"The RCMP said the cameras that usually would have been on at Level Nightclub were out of service that night, so there’s not even a shot of him leaving the bar.

The family was told that someone had seen him get into a cab in front of the bar and that maybe he went to a party.

Nothing came from either tip."

New articles released to mark the 18-year anniversary of Aaron's disappearance:

All of them now claim with certainty that "Aaron Derbyshire was last seen leaving a Leon Avenue nightclub," despite earlier reports saying he was last seen inside the club, and that there's no footage of him leaving the club because the cameras weren't working.

I tend to think that Aaron had wanted to go home already but couldn't find a way to gracefully leave his friends. I know I've been there—like the conversation is fun and upbeat that it's hard to suddenly be like, "Hey, I want to go."

But when his friends went to see the fight that broke out outside, Aaron may have thought this was his chance to make a quiet exit and just apologize later. After leaving, he could've become the victim of a crime of opportunity.

What do you think?
