There must've been a party and we didn't get invited :/

I can't help but wonder if there's tensions within the families, the L's and O's and if this tragedy is dividing anyone. I don't read too much into analyzing Facebook BUT, seeing RO's new profile pic of NO is crushing, such a beautiful boy :( Anyways, Hardly any 'likes' for RO's pic from the L side (2 from the girl and boy EL), and vice-versa on some of the L's profile pic homages, not too many likes from O's. To defend everyone though, I doubt Facebook is a priority for the families right now while grieving, but some seem to be on there more than others, who knows….

It's getting more and more possible that they may never be found. :/

It's possible bones can tell cause of death I think even if old maybe? If bones are chipped by a bullet, or knife or crushed by an object (I really hate typing these things) they might be able to tell cause of death no? I mean, I have no idea, just thought they could tell that stuff no matter how old.

Oooh...I would imagine that a new pic of NO would be difficult to "Like"....I wouldn't know what to do if that happened in my family. I know it's nowhere near the same but when my dad died, my sister-in-law put a pic of him as her profile picture, so everytime I went on FB, that's who I saw...it was really upsetting. Maybe people aren't "liking" it because IMO, FB is not an appropriate place to use as a "memorial" site. It is a beautiful pic, and I agree, he's absolutely gorgeous.

I also think that there would be tension between the Liknes and O'Brien families...maybe not with everyone, but certainly someone in their grief might have pointed a finger at someone else...sometimes people lash out in unreasonable ways...it's just a terribly sad thing all around. :(

I was watching a documentary on autopsies not too long ago, and the female coroner said that sometimes they never find out the cause of death. If tissue, etc., is absent, and if there aren't any telling marks on the bones as you have suggested, they never know. They can tell how long the person has been deceased from the bones and also how old the person is (this was described as being the same sort of process as determining the age of a tree), and the sex of the person. They also can recreate the person's face (in the case of an unknown) to a pretty good degree to be able to help get an id on the bones as well. It was all pretty interesting. Of course, it would be better if such things weren't required, but such is life I guess.

Good points Tinkerbel1, for sure. Makes sense, I guess some people might not know how to react or 'like' the photo. Facebook is a strange place, definitely an outlet for some but not all. Sorry about your dad too.

Oh thank you so much :) I have no doubt RO did that as a tribute, and so he should. Maybe people sent private messages to RO regarding the new photo? That would be much more personal and 'nicer' maybe? I hope that's what has happened, and that RO's effort has been acknowledged. :)

I believe tomorrow is the Superheroes are Real, walk for Nathan. I was looking at the collage and photo of Nathan on his Dads FB page.... Nathan radiates so much energy in his photo's, he is such a beautiful boy. As long as his parents have hope, so will I.

Me too! :) I will definitely send prayers out to everyone on the walk tomorrow. He has such pure energy, innocence and light, it's difficult to imagine anything other than him being safe and well somewhere. You are right, he is absolutely beautiful!

That makes sense. With a soft kill, there would be no evidence on the bones, but we know this wasn't a soft kill.

A fundraising benefit on a Friday would exclude all the working people ... seems like an unusual day to do that.

It looks like there are a lot of "Likes" for RO's collage and new pics of Nathan today! That little guy sure lights a place up doesn't he?! He just shines! :)

Oh..."soft kill"...those are such horrible words...actually they're all horrible words. How do we know it wasn't for sure? Could've been suffocation; could have been knife wound that didn't touch any bones...could've been a gunshot that didn't touch the bones. At this point in time, there will likely be nothing left but skeletons so if there were superficial wounds that caused bleeding and perhaps strangulation or suffocation, then there wouldn't be any evidence on the bones. Hopefully, there is some evidence at least for some sort of closure, although, do people really need to know how they met their fate? I imagine it would be so hard on the families to know.

I agree. Those words make my stomach lurch. Literally. Sadly, if my theory proves accurate little if anything would ever be found.

With a soft kill, there would be no evidence of the nature of the homicide on the bones. With a violent incident (murder, attempted homicide) where there appears to be blood and enough significant evidence to conclude that the victims are deceased, there could very well be evidence of weapon marks on bones. Hopefully the remains will be found soon.

It is safe to say, that the family has accepted that the victims are deceased and not simply "missing" - I think they can begin to heal (as much as one can in these cases) by having memorial services. Yes, finding the bodies would have been better, but this is a start. It must have taken a great deal of acceptance and courage to come to this decision.

I had no idea that there was a memorial for Nathan today. Was there any sort of formal announcement (eg: an obit)?
