I agree completely, well said.
I admit to having a snarky streak, but have to say, this site is a lot more fun when you aren't having a coronary whenever someone posts something contrary to what you think. I spent a little time on a dating site forum, ... try that if you want to see snarky. MOG!
Like Tinkerbel, I think this (and all of life) is better when we collaborate instead of try to take control.

lol...yes...the dating sites...where the guys really do wear leopard print underwear (and the occasional negligee) and pick their noses, and expect you to pay for everything...lol

Without wasting my time to look, Travis Vader immediately comes to mind.

I meant the point about calling "tunnel vision" while using "tunnel vision".

"Whoops!" is all it takes... everyone is pretty laid back here.

Charges against Vader were stayed not withdrawn, so he's not totally off the hook. AFAIK, there has never been any indication that LE has other suspects. IMO, not really a "Whoops" as much as they couldn't meet the threshold and are hoping the next year will provide what they need to do so. Another case without bodies being recovered.

Is it safe to come out yet? Just kidding!

I have created an account with Industry Canada, paid my $8 bucks to search for any companies who have recently declared bankruptcy under the name Winter Petroleum and nothing came up. What could it mean?

a. I don't know what I am doing.
b. They have not yet finalized bankruptcy
c. They have not declared bankruptcy
d. They use a different name

Any thoughts?

Well firstly...separate from all this...I think input is great...hashing thru theories and ...well...sleuthing...that's why we're here right? I'm a curious person....and I do know the saying curiosity killed the cat....but I'm not a cat sooooooooo... ;) My way of 'dealing'...if things are looking heated...if people are annoying *& yes I can be annoying too just like everyone else so don't think I'm pointing fingers!*....I shut down my computer....get a nice drink *ahem* and some sort of sweet.....and CHILL...There are always more ways to look at a situation than MY OWN.
I could be *& most likely are* wrong....it's the puzzle that I'm interested in....and of course hoping against hope...to help in some small way...btw....Happy Birthday to little Nathan...fly lil buddy..it's your day...

Lois....your post....I bolded above...here in MB...a lot of companies have their business name...but they often are registered under a #'ed company....I don't know how that works other than here....I would definitely strike choice 'A' off of your list....just not feasible! ;)

lol...Industry Canada you say...that sounds about right...lol.

I wonder if they're behind updating their information. When a business goes bankrupt, I think there's a different process than when an individual goes bankrupt. I've seen many companies continue to operate when in bankruptcy...I believe Red Lobster is one of them. I really am just guessing here but it's possible that the 'bankrupt' information from a company doesn't hit Industry Canada for a period of time (say a year)? I have no clue. I wonder if you can get your $ 8 back lol

Strange. The only think I can think of is processing time? Maybe when you file, it takes months to process and maybe not published until finalized? I have no idea.

Do you have unlimited searches on that $8? Can you search companies or individuals? Actually, instead of bombarding you with these questions, I'll go check out the website lol! I'm curious about other players in this case who might have also filed recently…

ETA - Tinker and I responded with similar answers. I work at a hospital and our FOI requests for medical records are so backed up because of sheer volume that processing time takes awhile - hence I think the words used by most folks to describe it is called 'red tape'. Could be the same with bankruptcy paper work, legalities, etc.

It's my experience that when the police say they're not looking for any more suspects that they're not looking for any more suspects. I take such statements at face value.

Perhaps you can provide an example of a case where murder charge(s) are laid, the police say they're not looking for any more suspects, and then, later, they announce they're laying additional murder/ accessory charges.

I don't know of any cases where that's happened.

I'm sorry you don't follow my original point. Not sure I can help with that other than to suggest you reread the posts. I don't really think there's more I can add.

I believe that OutoftheDarkness indicated that the comment "we are not looking for any other suspects" was addressed. He felt that perhaps at the time the statement was made, LE was indeed not looking for any other suspects, however that may have changed since then as new evidence/forensic test results/etc. come in. One question I do have....I don't know if it's been addressed...
I'm not familiar with 'settings' on a CCTV...do they constantly record?
Do they record say every 5 minutes *example* and then update?
Just curious...a constant record of course would be ideal...
If it's set to take a pic every few minutes and then refresh....well...movements in that 4min 59 sec lapse ...could be missed completely...JMOO

They could be behind. The search said it included up to September 17, 2014, but who knows. I never tried the number company because it is $8 bucks a search, if the results show less than 10 you may still end up with nothing to see and they still take your $8...not cool! the site does not mention anything about using numbered companies. If I search "winter" more results come up but you have to pay per file you want to see. It was a gamble.

Yes... that's the wasting my time looking part, because I hate engaging in deflection. Travis Vader may or may not be charged again, but we don't know why the charges were stayed. LE admitted they didn't check up on possible sightings. If someone else ultimately gets charged, then you'll have the very scenario offered up as deflection.

The whoops was referencing the pot and kettle case.

Precisely. Open Mind vs Tunnel Vision. I rest my case.

Is there any way or chance that people can do searches in person at a local Provincial Court House? At no cost?

Maybe they have a DBA name? Can't see though why the registered name wouldn't come up.

A numbered company makes sense.

This is the numbered company for Winter Pet from an Alberta Govt Petroleum Regulator database,, two hours of sleuthing, bedtime now;

1324661 ALBERTA INC.

and it is considered active as of this month and year, hmmm?
