did it go bust or are people just being quiet about the next best thing since directional drilling or self-casing wells? I wonder how much al was asking for licensing of the original technology?

Good point! :)

I think it can be requested by the lawyer on either side, but must be approved by a judge... and then the media I believe can fight it, asking for valid grounds, etc., perhaps sillybilly might know more?

Does anyone know who can request or instigate a publicity/media ban on trials? Can the victim's families, LE, the defence, the Crown or all of the above request this?

ETA - I thought the Liknes family might request a publication ban as ALJr has posted two articles about publication bans on his FB. Wondering if this possible, they might not want the family's private business made public at trial.

In one of the news articles I ran across in the past day or so, it said something also in reference to an investment DG may have made in regard to the soured business dealing(s) that DG had with AL. I brushed it off to another one of those errors in reporting, because I don't believe any other news article has made mention of that.

Well, it's a little late now...lol. WSer's have done a fine job of uncovering a LOT of it! I think that has to be requested by the lawyers.

True, but I'm sure lots will come out at trial too, even about DG also and who knows who else. WSer's might've just scratched the surface!

I also wondered if a ban might be requested if this went the other way - not to protect victims privacy but if LE have proof of a disturbing crime that took place they might feel not fit for public consumption or to protect DG for him to have a fair trial. Time will tell I guess.

Gut feeling, but I think there will be a publication ban for sure...if for no other reason, than to ensure that DG gets a fair trial. It's so high-profile, just like DeGrood's, they'll probably want this kept as quiet as possible outside of the courtroom. JMO

I just read the couple articles relating to the publication ban and I can understand the reasoning behind that case as it involves a juvenile and child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. I could possibly see a publication ban on the details of Nathan but not for AL and KL or DG. But if I were in the same situation I would probably prefer to keep it private. How much privacy can they gain from the ban? Imagine if there was a ban and DG was found not-guilty, all hell would break loose.

Hey! Would it be possible to add another thread to this forum to include just pictures from MSM and whatever else we are allowed? That would be super helpful!

bad form to quote oneself, but here we are;

we were told by msm that winterpet went bankrupt, which it did in a way but not formal process. blue found an article on it being sold. are msm fact checking a little deeper than just what they heard. I know reporters are not much more than parrots and it takes money to do in-depth investigative journalism, but, I mean here we are on ws unearthing a lot of factual info that is likely related but we're not msm and therefore it has no legs.

mild rant, pologies

If there was a publication ban would this specific forum be jeopardized?

Interesting article for sure. I was talking to my hubby about this and he thought the public and families have a right to know trial info, I told him I didn't think the public or families *really* need to know for example, all the details of the Bernardo case as it's too disturbing and hard on the families.

Then he made a good point - if more and more court trials start getting sealed then we us the public are almost having blind faith in LE, judges, lawyers, etc. and giving them too much power to have trials and keep everyone in the dark. But the pendulum swings the other way and the media can paint a suspect as guilty and sway public opinion (probably nota jury as much though). Very hard topic, I'm torn on this one big time.

Excellent idea LL! I was going nuts trying to find some pics.

no. unless we were reporting court proceedings during a ban, and I think even that's a grey area as court room tweets are acceptable.

I agree Stan, unfortunately technology is king. The reporters tweet 'facts' in real time on their Twitter without even fact-checking, or confirming their info or sources it seems.

Not sure it's their fault or us the audience's fault for wanting our information instantaneous and now - the chicken/egg syndrome. It's sad really, what are we to really believe?

Isn't the whole point of having a public trial so that the public can make sure that justice is being done? So how is it allowed that a PB can be issued to protect the rights of the accused? I can see if they are trying to protect a victim, or a witness, but not the accused?

I thoughts leaves at first sight, maybe tree fallings too.

The reason I didn't think leaves or tree needles was because of the time of year but maybe they have been there a long time.

Lol...rants allowed! Can be very frustrating can't it...seeing two or three different things about the same subject?

Depending on where MSM got their information from? There may be some laziness there...everyone's busy...covering more stories than just one...maybe they hear something and think "good enough"...bankrupt and sold are definitely 2 different things. Wonder if it's possible that's what AL and friends were sharing around...rather than letting their employees think they were sold. Maybe new buyer had no intention of keeping employees or moving forward in the same way as was being done? So hard to say.

Can WS give reporters 'tips'? Then the info would have "legs" so to speak.
