I would be interested to know who the loanshark was

ok, you go sleuth loanshark's (don't get curbed) and i'll watch reruns of different strokes.

but seriously, that was the defense for his case,, it might be miles from the truth. be nice if we could find the original docket (just to find out the vehicles). I'm not implying that dg and cl are chums but rather an avenue of how dg might have met al.

disclaimer: I mean no ill intent toward or in passing to the fine community of loan shark out there in underworld land or the executive offices of Mastercard, as, without your economic push, industries in the manufacture of heavy gold chains, bandanas, the Camaro, accordions and the fine resort of Sandals New Jersey would cease to be. thank you for your contribution to society.

Do we know if the Mexico ownership is referring to AL as Liknes who co-owns with a Garland? Maybe it's CL who has joint ownership and not AL.
very good point.

Wayyyyyyyy off subject; so a few of us are completely new to WS and there are a few on here who are ancient artifacts/veterans/elders as they say. I only come onto this thread and no where else (as I would likely get lost and not find my way back). Anyhoo, is this thread typical of other WS threads? I've never sleuthed a case and wonder if other cases have so many intricate/odd coincindence running thru them. Seriously, if I could post everything that I find (and other posters too), it would make your head spin faster than it already is. Then again, if I sleuthed my own life it might bring up some odd things too (ok, maybe not).

no, he was running calcap with AL prior to the car lot thing, and that kinda went backwards I guess while being in jail. but that didn't deter him from being a theif a couple of years later and then a couple of years after that. I guess once you do something illegal, you either learn and take the straight path, or you learn to circumvent the law better in the future.

IIRC...I think I have a link for it somewhere....he had a carpet install set-up involved with calcap ...
CL was the one who got to the L's on the morning of the 30th also wasn't he...cuz I think we confused him with the other younger CL...I know I have that link......
Yes...I knew I remembered him being interviewed:

I'm new too Stan and only registered and participated specifically to this case because this story tugged at my heartstrings big time, probably mostly because of little NO.

While on this site, I clicked on a WS link about a missing Ohio woman case and got sucked right in also (accidently) and have been checking in on that one here and there but never post. Turns out that case was a suicide, but tons of theories regarding foul play, so goes to show it's easy for things to take on a life of it's own with all the ideas.

I had only first heard of WS when I started following the Elisa Lam case in MSM after the eerie elevator video of her was released and googled her and that's how I even heard that WS existed.

So then I followed the EL case on here but didn't post, just read. That case went in a few directions, but I don't recall it having the many intertangled coincidences and odd synchronicity this one does, that's for sure.

This one is definitely head-spin worthy.

This thread is not typical. Some threads I have been interested in are full of venting and wishing for more clues. Poster's comments can be very hard to understand and there is a lack of good spelling and grammar. The Nathan thread is one I follow daily because of the tenacious above average intellects here.
(I'm not including myself in the comment above...other projects have my attention for now).

Is it just me (or maybe am I being too nit-picky) and I think this might've been discussed here before, but - I find his statement odd. No names...it's the little guy, my brother and his wife. Not Nathan, not Alvin and not Kathy.

Sounds impersonal or detached to me. I thought I read somewhere AL and CL were twins and close, seems like a distant statement but I'm probably over-analyzing!

"“I sure hope they find the little guy and my brother and his wife.”

dumb question, but when exactly were the L's planning on departing Parkhill?

  • #370
I would be extremely upset if my off-the-record conversation with a fellow reporter ended up on websleuths with me being identifiable.

I am not sure privacy legislation would apply to an off the record friendly discussion between people in the same field. Regardless, adults that engage in conversation or share details with anyone, even within their own household, can't be surprised when that conversation takes on legs. Most of us know better than to disclose anything that we don't want shared.

That is a good question. They could have planned to leave within a short time of the estate sale because they attempted to sell everything. Maybe they were going towards Mexico first and back to Evansberg or Edmonton area. A moving company of sorts put the rest of the belongings into storage so possibly they needed to hand over the keys by August or September. Or maybe they had a longer lease arranged with the new owner and were leaving early or living on a month-to-month arrangement. I wonder where all the vehicles went or if they are still at the home.

Not over-analyzing in my opinion lala. When I first read this I found that statement very odd as well...the 'no names' put me off....
I think AL and AL are twins...I think CL is older...

Thank you. Not to mention the fact that I am not a fellow reporter. I have not been a reporter for many years. There were many interesting conversations that day and I carefully chose what to share. The only thing I actually shared was the timeline on the CCTV camera.

That Lethbridge Herald article was November 1990 when CL was 48 ... so 72 this year.

Maybe DG and CL were involved in the same crimes together.

I've been visiting this site for about 8 years...6 as a reg member...
This is the first case I was highly active in...so many I followed closely...
I still go back to a few select cases to this day to re-read a lot...in the off chance of finding 'something'..

The Boy in the Box...breaks my heart & it happened before I was even born...& never been solved...
Victoria Stafford...the after school video will haunt me forever...

Kyron..sweet little Kyron...Four years later and I still wonder about that little guy....
Tim Bosma...now that case has some twists and turns...with revelations about DM's father...and the missing girl Laura Babcock...

Patricia Kimmi...after reading her case every day...and insight from her family here...you would know what an awesome lady she was...& would have been such a great friend to have...

Lyric & Elizabeth...
& some fairly recent...including our case here...& Beverly Carter...Erin Corwin...
I could go on for days....

It seems fairly typical that high profile cases have a large flood of information and visitors on the page....to begin with...
Then...either a suspect is arrested...there is the wait for trial...or...with no new information at all it goes one of 2 ways...
It becomes very quiet...or remains somewhat active with scenarios & re-sleuthing what is known to that point...

I know there are a lot of cases where some are invested greatly into it and will 'bump' quiet threads to keep them visible..
As for 'typical' in regards to twists...turns....all kinds of things like that....there are actually quite a few that have some 'wow' & 'aha' moments...

It seems there are certain cases that seem to 'grab' people's attention right away....huge press...huge numbers following & contributing on WS...
Then there are others where it just seems to fade off...sadly...

What makes one case any more important...or any more 'sleuth worthy'? I have yet to put my finger on that one....
What I do know is...there are far too many tragic stories...far too many families & loved ones out there without answers...sometimes decades later...
I think we all want the same thing & what is typical to all the cases....we want happy endings & answers...

No two cases are alike and I don’t think this one is too far out there. Some threads have only 1 victim, others multiple victims, male/female, adults/kids, some straight forward, others twisty-turney. The fact that AL and KL were involved in businesses and that theirs is such a large family, it perhaps adds more sleuthability and curious coinkydinks than in other cases.

Okay, good, glad I wasn't sounding too judgmental!

And yes, of course! AL and AL are twins, oh my I got them mixed up. I don't know what i was thinking. Thanks for the reminder on that :)

So there are TWO brothers - AllenSr and Cliff (not boxer nephew). So this changes things more to me, maybe they are not as close then.

Cherchri I asked news.talk this question and please don't feel obligated at all to answer, only if you feel like it... I was curious, with what you may know more than the rest of us do you think this is a basic, simple crime or a more layered and complex one?

Wow, seeing all those names you mentioned is heartbreaking and a reminder of the loss of life out there. So many people out there, so many tragedies, and it only takes one person knowing something to break something wide open.

I don't know how LE does it, waiting…waiting…looking... for one tiny detail on a case that can solve it. Respect to LE and the families and victims too of course.
