Does anyone find these early statements from CH a bit more telling of what the household might have been like? BBM

Cherri Hodgins, Kathy Liknes' friend since junior high, was at the sale on Sunday. She last saw the couple that afternoon. "They were actually pretty happy," she said.

"They did well on the sale. They were relieved they'd sold off some things. They were looking forward to the future and they were looking forward to good change."

Why were they relieved at selling stuff, they had sold the house and had near 700 grand?

As for white collar HA, well, go to Montreal and find out how rooted they are in everything from municipal politics Quebec/police thru Provincial/Surte. They don't ride Harleys, more drive BMW's and are very clean cut. On St. Catherines street during the 92 Stanley Cup riot, most businesses that suffered damages didn't have insurance and had to pay out of their own pockets for repairs as they were also paying Protection money to the HA or Rock Machine.

I wonder if CH said actually because of a question a reporter asked her…like the reporter might've asked 'was there any trouble in the marriage, were they happy?' if so, her answer sounds kind of normal, it sounds like something I'd say myself if asked, because it sounds like CH is defending KL to a question to me.

But if CH just threw it out there, then yeah…weird way to describe things...

If a home is mortgaged for 700 grand, or 800 grand, there wouldn't have been anything to 'have'.

Good point, we don't know they owned it out right do we? They might've had to pay the bank the rest of the mortgage.

they owned it for 25 years I thought and if that's the case it was likely paid off years ago as prices on houses then was pretty darn good.

These are average home prices between 94 and 07, ,, 89 was a buyers bonanza.

Also, they could have re-mortgaged it, or put it into someone elses name. How does home ownership work if they supposedly declared bankruptcies?

I read the statement by CH with an inflection of; ... actually pretty good all things considered. They were not exactly beaming with "oh they were great!!!!"

and usually a good change is something needed, as change is what one wants in certain circumstances.

Sorry for quoting myself, but wanted to show these 2 pics together.

So if that is the truck caught on CCTV by the corner house on same side as L's house, and the exact location of truck has been identified, are we in agreement that the truck is travelling *away* from the L house?

And then according to the rumors held by news reporters who may have gleaned more information than the public, the truck was seen twice on CCTV, once at 9;15pm and once at 10;15pm. If it isn't sunset yet in the photo released by LE, we could guess that picture must have been the 9;15pm trip? We don't know which direction the truck was going at either of the time slots when it was apparently caught on video, but one might assume it would have been said something like 'the truck was seen driving away at 9;15 and then coming back at 10;15', but it was simply stated that it was two times, which would lead me to believe both were in same direction. And if he was going *away* from the L house at 10;15pm, that isn't enough time to do much considering that JO didn't leave until 10pm. Also 2 times isn't the equivalent to 'several' (as stated by LE at their press conference).

Cherchri
E[modsnip] talked to me about the timeline of the truck on CCTV in Parkhill. First picked up at 9:15 and then again at 10:15. She speculates he would have seen JO's vehicle at 9:15 and came back later when it appeared "company" had left.

So would this mean the truck was only on camera twice? Does this mean he drove the other way down the steet to leave and wasn't on camera leaving?

Cherchri
You know.... I assumed she was only referring to the coming and not the going.

Thank you otto for posting that google earth map showing the location of the house, camera, and the truck caught on the camera.. maybe my bearings are wrong, but I am getting that the truck is travelling on a curve going in the opposite direction of what you have indicated on the map, in relation to the location of the camera and the curve in the road? (see attached). I am definitely directionally challenged, so just my own directionally challenged viewpoint. Can anyone help?

or they fell into that dreadful trap of reverse mortgage. which then still leaves the question of who was paying for their undisclosed time in Mexico and then their retirement in Evansburg? Houses in Evansburg are not 700 grand.

They could have paid it off and then remortgaged, and never paid it off and kept remortgaging, even to the point of mortgaging it for more than it was worth. People do that all the time to get cash to .... do whatever with, ie buy a vacation property in Mexico? Buy new vehicle(s)? Repay debt to others?

and the timeframe gets shorter and shorter.

the truck is driving west in the picture.

Good point! If the times are correct that is only one hour between trips around the block. I wonder what the next time was. Why wouldn't a third time be released in a timeline from LE? I would think that would be helpful for others in the neighborhood or people moving around the city that may have thought they saw something. I really wonder how relevant the truck is in relation to the evidence LE has to support the charges.

That darn website to pull land titles has been down for a few days now. I really would like to know the name of the lawyer who bought the Liknes home.

Me too, curious about that.

Logically, the last time it drove around the route (if, not parked) was 11:00 pm as then it was dark. I was outside that night having a smoke and looking over some fishing tackle, it was a nice nice evening. BTW 16 celcius is really quite nice in Calgary even after a long rainy month, as it's typically dry here so we don't have that pervasive rising damp feel to our climate. and yes, sidewalks dry quickly here.

does anyone else notice the stain UNDERNEATH the garage door partially covered about 9 inches from the closest edge of the garage frame or just left of the 15 marker?

I don't want to say the truck was driving east or west in the picture because I dont know for a fact that the arrow pointing 'north' is accurate, but just wanted to be sure everyone is on the same page as far as determining that in that pic that LE released to the public, the truck is definitely going away from the L house, rather than toward it?

I'm guessing he drove around twice to scout out the scene and when he drove at the 10:15 that was when he knew company had left - that was his go time.

If he drove around the block to come back he wouldn't be captured on CCTV again until after the murder, that is if he left the scene that way and went West and not the other way which is East.

I fly fish directly below that street and once went to a party on the other side of the river on the property you can just see the backyard of. so yes, the truck has just passed the house going west.

To my knowledge, LE didn't release any of the times the truck was seen on video, only that it was 'several times' and in the critical period. It was the reporter that spoke with Cherchri at the September court appearance that said LE had captured 2 instances on video, and that the times were 9;15 and 10;15. Being a reporter actively involved on this case, I'm sure you'd hear a lot from various sources who may be 'in the know'.

It looks like a stain to me, or is it a shadow or stain that's not blood (water)? It's a tough one, but could very well be if something was done in the garage.
