Just when I wrap my head around the probability (according to LE) of none of the trio leaving Parkhill alive and in one piece, another statement, or interpretation of a statement, ie:' forcibly removed', whips my head and brain in another direction. So many convoluted statements and interpretations of language...arg!

I couldn't agree more! I think one thing one minute and then another thing the next.

Makes me feel like we are lost in one gigantic corn maze. (Not to minimize or negate the gravity of the whole situation!)

I can't tell if the case is zig-zagging, or if we're just dissecting and overanalyzing every grain of salt and creating mountains out of mole hills!

And...some mountains out of 'no' hills too...lol

My interpretation of "forcibly removed" ...

LE attended the scene and knew a violent incident occurred, probably suspected homicide but would not state to that effect without confirmation from the ME. Obviously the trio were not physically there or able to be located, someone was in medical distress, and an Amber Alert was issued in the event one, two, or three of them were not fatally injured. If any of the three were alive at the time they left the home, they were more than likely forcibly removed.

Once it was confirmed by whatever means that the trio were deceased (possibly at the residence), then obviously the initial statement wrt being forcibly removed was no longer applicable as it was on July 2 when the statement was made ... they were deceased and it was no longer relevant.

I think? LOL

It seems pretty straight forward. When police discovered the scene, they stated that it was clear that the victims left against their will; forcibly (perhaps alive, perhaps dead, but forcibly none the less). Three days later, police released information that there was a violent struggle (or something to that effect). Facts about the horrific nature of the scene were slowly released in part - I believe - because the community was concerned that a madman was on the loose attacking people that were holding garage sales. Until police knew what they were dealing with, I think they didn't want to contribute to fear and concern about public safety. On July 4, a green truck was targeted, and then it all fell into place, leading to the arrest on July 14.

On July 14, when evidence confirmed that the victims were deceased, it was still true that the victims left "against their will", or through the force of another person. The reason they left against their will, and due to the force of some other person, is because they were dead.

"July 1: Police say they have a “big mystery” on their hands, and evidence at the Liknes home suggest that the three family members left the residence against their will. Police ask anyone who attended the estate sale to contact them.

July 4: Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus says a violent struggle occurred inside the Liknes’ home before the three went missing."

I wonder why police are calling it a complex case then? The scenarios above seem fairly straight forward

When you have no bodies, circumstantial evidence and a debatable motive, you have a complex case.

Okay, I wasn't going to play but just to add fuel to the fire…keep in mind it's an old article from July 6th BEFORE forensic lab results came back so everyone was still in the dark, just interesting lingo (BBM):

"Police said it's a best practice to return to the scene of an abduction five to seven days afterward, with research suggesting fresh searches have proven to be helpful in finding missing persons."

"Investigators said a violent struggle took place inside the Likneses' Parkhill home before they vanished along with Nathan. Officers suspect at least one of them has been injured - they are still waiting for forensic testing to find out who was hurt."

From another article: "Police confirm a violent crime occurred in the Parkhill residence."

In my experience, when there is limited information coming from your source, in this case LE, reporters tend to get creative with wording. This was and still is, a big story, so every newscast the story needs to be told, but you don't want to keep repeating the same words in the same order... So, taking the same information, re-writing and re-emphasizing, you try and make the story relevant and sounding new.

With the exception of a few small tips here and there, every news outlet was working off the same information; the pressers we also have transcribed here. Honestly, I wouldn't read too much into word choices from MSM - It is the CPS press releases and their direct quotes, that have the accurate information.

MOO.

I know, it's crazy if you think about it! I could post 50 quotes from 50 newspapers describing ONE event 50 different ways all by using different words and lingo. I mean I could decipher this all day long and keep going in cirlces lol!

I'm being cheeky about us here on the forum, I find myself reposting the same info over and over, forgetting this and that, then re-analyzing something that's already been posted (like 10 times with 10 links) and then analyzed again and again etc. etc. etc.

I guess they don't call us sleuthers for nothin, can't say we haven't been 'thorough'! (the emoticon represents us looking up links)!

Maybe this would be a good time to post the police and the lawyer statements. I do find them quite telling. As soon as a new thread starts I will load them up!
