Special appeal to all journalists perusing our thread:

PLEASE use different photos of Alvin and Kathy.

Those photos are their (very serious) passport photos. I know this case very well, I know they are the victims, but so many do not, and everytime I see those photos next to Nathan, I feel they deserve real life photos instead of the criminal like, non-smiling passport photos.

Please - to honour them - please change the pictures.

Jennifer went to be at 9, got up and went home at 11. Douglas Garland, per his father, was at home at 11 when father went to bed, and again at 7AM when father woke up.

It must be so difficult to be a juror in a long, major trial.

I'm not sure I would put much into DG's father's testimony....he is hard of hearing and to me it just seemed like he was just agreeing with what they were asking him and didnt seem to remember much about timeliness and details IMO. But it's very possible DG definitely waited for his parents to go to bed before he left the acreage. It would make more sense anyways.

I'm guessing the small tooth located in the house was the result of the impact of the bar bell. And I truly hated typing that as much as even knowing it was a small tooth.

I'm hoping the teeth that were found were the result of a major struggle.

She comments that both Garlands parents are quite spry, especially Mrs.Garland.

Megan from CBC has a comment regarding Mr. Garland having TWO daughters and a son. Have we heard about another daughter?

I have a retired Uncle who is RCMP living in the area of this crime. I know he must be beyond revolted by it, as we all are.

Thinking of all involved in this trial. Thankful for the coverage and that jurors sit to render justice. But I can't help wonder how many victims of Garland there are? Not just prior murder victims, but those who are harmed by being exposed to the details of this horrific case.

Ya and it seems they were giving him the time stamps and the info and he was just kind of saying yes or no answers. Even I don't remember what I did 2 days ago let alone 2 years ago and I'm only 33 lol...so add old age and painkillers to the mix...ya, no lol

Given that Garland senior worked in the oil industry and owned the acreage, my guess is that he was a very accomplished man when he worked. He may be hard of hearing, but he probably has regular bedtime. I'm guessing that he would have known in 2014, shortly after the murders, whether his son was at home when he went to bed and when he woke up.

Any normal human being would be revolted! Perhaps DNA from others will be found in the 6 burn barels of ashes police sorted thru?

Police gathered evidence, but prosecutors review the evidence for trial. The prosecutor probably asked the very same question.

You would have to question the integrity of the ashes as evidence if it's been sitting out there for 9 months. Strange.
