That would be my idea too but, the prosecution has already told us that they found searches on a hard drive (computer storage) belonging to Garland that were sexual fetish type of 'restrained women in diapers' 

You could be right, but in my humble opinion, DG was searching the Internet to find solutions.
"Restrained women in diapers" - may mean "how to go about restraining a woman that wears diapers",
In the same way, he was perhaps looking for answers on torture (Alvin) and how to kill without emotion (NO) 😢.
