Constable says he can't always find the date someone searched for something on the Internet - it doesn't always capture the date. #Garland

#Garland on afternoon break

Probably. So I suppose the hard drive in the rafters was from the Acer computer that was new sometime after March 16, 2013? There likely won't be too much of a problem with dates in that one.

So...why didn't we hear any of the details of email exchanges between DG and AL from the Sony hard drives? Was everything deleted? They only knew that there were emails but not the content? :waitasec:

Maybe that was the testimony of overall what was found (I found an email); and next is the detail within it (the email said...)?

Maybe there wasn't anything worth putting in to evidence. There is so much evidence in this case that the crown needs to make sure they don't crowd the minds of the jury with useless facts.

Well I'm confused. I thought the first witness did forensic evaluation of the two hard drives in the Sony and would present his findings...including any incriminating evidence found in it. And then the second would do the same for the hard drive found in the rafters. So no incriminating evidence was found on the Sony other than emails between DG and AL (contents unknown), a kijiji registration in the name of MK (never completed?) and searches of AL and his company Vecto? The Sony computer had two hard drives and 2 user names and it appears that it belonged to Patti G and she gave it to DG in 2008. Because I believe the contents of that email, thanking her for giving him the computer, was revealed. So they did have access to some email contents.

I guess things may have really ramped up after March 16, 2013 on the new computer? And we'll be hearing about it's contents after the lunch break? :waitasec:

Okay it does appear that the Sony had nothing significant to offer and it's the hard drive that will bring in all the other evidence.

Const. Doug Kraan is expected to present findings specific to a forensic examination of a computer hard drive found hidden in the rafters of the basement of the house.

On the first day of the trial, the prosecution told the jury almost 200 gigabytes of information was stored on the hard drive and reviewed by the tech crimes unit.

The Crown alleges Garland meticulously researched things such as murder and how to kill without emotion, torture, the Likneses on social media and their estate sale.

It’s alleged the hard drive also held information on picking locks—specifically the Schlage BE365 that the Likneses had on their door.

This is torturously slow moving. I couldn't be in the courtroom. At some point I'd jump and yell "move it along!" I am just so anxious to hear something incriminating.
IMO

Ohhhhhh I soooo agree. We get it! They weren't in Mexico lol
But of course we know that it needs to be slow and tedious but thorough. No mistakes. No chance to open up anything for Defense to use.

ETA - Replying to Slebby above re: trial pace.

Yep they are 100% making sure everyone knows that hard drive was properly retreived with no chance of a set up or tampering. How many law enforcement testified about finding the hard drive? I'm thinking at least 3.

It is tedious. And nothing incriminating for a while now. The hard drive data, the dna RESULTS - not just the "we found blood and sent it for testing" and the aerial photos seem to be what holds the most damaging evidence against DG.Does anyone know when the Crown intends to rest? Is this broken up 50/50 so that the defence gets 2.5 weeks and the crown 2.5 weeks?

The defence has said that they have not decided whether they are calling witnesses yet or not and the Crown is calling 60

If the defense is planning an NCR - would they have already stated that, or can they drop that at any point in the trial?
