I have to ask more experienced sleuthers, since this is the first case I've followed this closely and in real-time: is this amount of damning evidence normal in cases like this??? I'm just stunned at all of the rock-solid evidence CPS have here, time and time again, layer after layer (internet searches, documents, video, items, DNA, and on and on). Or, am I falling for the story the Crown is weaving because they are doing their job well?

Sometimes there is this much and sometimes there isn't. There is a lot of evidence here. To be honest, the photo of the bodies would be the clincher for me, not that I need convincing at this point. Garland left a trail. Without the hard drive, we really wouldn't have all of this. The hard drive set the wheels in motion for a lot of this evidence gathering as well as tying it together.

In the 2 other cases I have followed closely (Tori Stafford, Tim Bosma) there was a lot of damning evidence in them as well.

I don't know if its 'usual' - nothing about this is 'usual'. I followed a ton of cases, and there is a LOT of crazy ones - but this one ... wow

CPS is phenomenal, I can't say that enough.

DG spent a small fortune leading up to the murders. I wonder if he planned on paying his credit card.

Those knives aren't cheap.

The planning, the purchasing, the research are all incredible. The guy certainly set up himself up for First Degree.

This is all pretty mind blowing.

Princess auto is actually extremely cheap. Even with everything he bought he wouldn't have spent that much. He must have been really broke to risk using a cc for those purchases.

Good knives are quite expensive.

Good point about the hard drive being found in that hidden rafter space.

Without that a lot of these items would have been scattered about his place. His place was filled with tons of farm tools and other items. LE would not have known about some of these certain items to think they could have been used in this particular crime. Or bought with the intent of being used for the crime.

That hard drive nicely tied things together for LE of his intentions.

Which brings us back to an earlier post someone made that when he was arrested around 1:30am trying to sneak back to his place he likely was trying to get that hard drive so he could get rid of it.

He was smart in some ways and really a dumb crook in others.
Some of the things sound so genious like breaking into a lock with a drill bit and then other things he did like being caught on someones video camera driving around in his truck made him appear to be a dumb crook.

Just glad he made some mistakes like that.
