I just read about new equipment available for DNA testing in the Cleveland case. I wonder if it's the same.

I agree - 100%. In this trial I think DG's defence attorneys have been very even handed. No heavy-hitting cross examination for obviously irrefutable evidence. They have only taken a shot at the little gaps here and there.

Its very interesting to me about the defense strategy in this case.

He has been very quiet so far and has hardly objected to anything. Almost too quiet. I almost get the feeling that they know he will be convicted and maybe he is doing very little on purpose to give DG a way to appeal later with an "ineffective counsel" argument.

Its either that or maybe there really has not been much they can object to.

I suppose we will find out more when its their turn to argue their case.

Can they still plead guilty at any time before the jury starts to deliberate? Maybe he is waiting to see how the case is going and then maybe try to arrange some sort of sentencing deal with prosecuters or is it too late for that?

Glad your here Kamille to do tweets. I have been nursing a hunting lab who has an ACL tear. Between icing her and keeping her quiet I am multi tasking. No surgery per Vet warranted at this point. Sorry for the O/T but wanted to say thank you to our terrific posters here. Sorry I cant help out.

So sorry to hear. My beautiful Labby had that injury - vet gave me very strong pain killers for her and instructions to keep her off her feet for as long as possible (we managed 4 days) - no surgery and 4 years later she is still 100%. Hoping the same for your furry one.

High temperatures can cause DNA to degrade- breaks down chemicals in DNA, according to Mohrbutter #Garland #yyc

Bill GravelandVerified account ‏@BillGraveland 7s8 seconds ago
"High temperatures can cause DNA to degrade," said Mohrbutter. Breaks it into smaller pieces and makes it harder to determine. #Garland

Lucie Edwardson ‏@MetroLucie now56 seconds ago
Chemicals can also impact DNA in three ways. #Garland #yyc

Lucie Edwardson ‏@MetroLucie now44 seconds ago
Some chemicals cause breaking of bonds in DNA, some bind, some interfere with extraction - all can inhibit ability to obtain DNA. #Garland

Nancy HixtVerified account ‏@NancyHixt now38 seconds ago
Mohrbutter: high temperatures can cause DNA to degrade--chemicals like bleach can also have an impact #Garland

Michael PlattVerified account ‏@SUNMichaelPlatt 11s11 seconds ago
Bleach, strong acids and bases can degrade DNA says Mohrbutter. High temps too. #Garland

I think it's very unlikely the defense is slacking in hopes of Garland filing and ineffectual counsel motion. That would mean they're throwing themselves under a bus just to see this guy walk free. That would be illegal and evil. I think they just don't have a whole lot to object to. In Canada you see that sometimes - almost as if the Defense is just going through the motions, making sure everything is done correctly. I'm sure they know their client doesn't really stand a chance.
