I find it interesting that Alvin's blood was found on one dumbbell and Kathy's on the other. Are we to assume that DG used the dumbbells to injure Alvin and Kathy? After all his research and planning, it appears that he used something other than a weapon he brought himself.

Anyone else thinking this?

I was wondering if he forgot his bag of tricks at home ... would explain why there was no DNA besides his on them.

Such a flood of emotions. At times I can handle the testimony as its meant to be processed by the jurors and other times I wish I had control of lightning and we know who get zapped by a bolt.

If it's any consolation to all our Calgarians on the board, you may have cold and snow, but we have had freezing rain now for a couple of hours in Southern Ontario. I'll trade you our freezing rain for your snow and cold.:happydance:

I always felt that he realized his billy club type thing wasnt going to cut it and I think he saw the dumbell and decided to use that instead.

I honestly took Ativan during the testimony today.

I am a bit more SW than you Tealgrove and we have had a high today of 52 and endless down pour of rain. What the hay??? Stay safe. I hate freezing rain. Presently looking out our patio door and rain is washing away the snow we had. Strange winter. Both of us get lake effect Tealgrove but u have had much more this year than us.

I know.....sigh. Why would one need to use a meat hook if victims are injured and immobile. Ever since I read that I have a horrid thought I keep pushing away. Did he torture Kathy and little man Nathan forcing Alvin to watch? Killer was about punishment to the max. degree. I'm not sure putting that thought out here will make me feel any better as we may never know. The thought has been nagging at me.

BBM
If it did it all out in the open, it may have been easier to cut up a hanging body as opposed to one laying on the ground? Seems there was some type of metal pole thing near the 3 outbuildings..... shivers

This is a good point.

I dont recall them ever saying anything in that bag had any DNA besides his on them so he could have forgotten the whole bag.

If he left the bag either at home or in the truck then maybe that is why the dumbell was used.

I think some handcuffs were in that bag. Could this be a clue that maybe he felt he had to kill them all there at the house because he had no handcuffs?

I took a Gravol. I think it was the case and I drank 4 glasses of OJ. Soon it will be cocktail hour when Hubby gets home LOL. Feeling the need to have a nice glass of Pinio with dinner.

YES. It really doesn't make sense for all the planning and the arsenal of weaponry. What happened here? To enter the home just hoping he'd randomly find an appropriate weapon?? Seems waaaay off. There is more to this.

First time poster. Can I just say that the "right foot" "left foot" stickers in Nathan's sneakers are simply gutting me right now? Ironically it's those small, everyday details that really magnify for me the utter senselessness of this tragedy.

I wonder if Garland knew he would be caught and was just so obsessed that he didn't care. That even if he was caught and convicted, it was worth it. Or was he so arrogant that he thought he'd never be caught?

In my opinion, the green truck was his biggest mistake and the downfall of his plan. I can only imagine how much more time he could have had to potentially clean up the farm and destroy other evidence if he just used a generic rental truck. Someone from the Liknes family would have had to have told LE to investigate Douglas as a person of interest because of a potential grudge. Otherwise LE would have essentially all the folks that attended the estate sale as a person of interest.

Those who want to see the photos need to realize that once something is posted on the internet, there is no controlling where it goes and ends up.

People need to weigh their desires to see these photos against the family's need not to have them posted on the internet.

As others have pointed out, this discussion is likely irrelevant because it is highly unlikely the judge will release the photos to the media. They will either be sealed or covered by a publication ban.

The media has never published this type of photos for very good reason.

Absolutely agree. There is no controlling where something goes and ends up once posted on the internet.
It doesn't have to be photos, even if it's your own words or thoughts/opinions, they can easily be misinterpreted and manipulated how people see fit, regardless of how you intended. All without your permission.
I can completely understand why these photos will likely never be released to the media. They publish enough graphic content for us curious minds.

Now that we know that Kathy and Noah's blood/DNA were found in the spare room, do we think they came upstairs to sleep OR....did they hear a commotion and come running upstairs to see what was happening? I can envision them backing into the spare room if DG charged them. At which point both Kathy and Noah are beaten by DG.

I also think Kathy started coming around at which point he hit again with the dumbbell from the garage which would have been the major blow.

I was corrected on this before, but for some reason I seem to think that I had the impression that Kathy was more injured than anyone else while still at the house and perhaps mortally. This would explain it. Her blood was the drag marks, her blood on the dumbbell in the basement, her blood in the upstairs bedroom and on the stairs I believe.

This was one brutally savage attack. MOO
