So I am trying to focus on motive. Money or revenge, it's got to he one of those two. I'll throw in a psychopath as a very distant third.

But the key has got to be in who exactly would take these people with them, dead or alive. Why??

Revenge

I may have missed this, but do we know if Grandma & Grandpa are the only adults living in the home?

If there was a tennant, I'm sure it would have been mentioned as a missing person, or interviewed.

This timeline says the L's bought a condo in Mexico, so did they buy two homes, one in Edmonton and one in Mexico?

Wondering if RO was caring for N's brothers on Sunday and Monday morning when JO went to pick N up?

How far away did JO live from her parent's home?

I wonder if the Ls had given their notice to vacate the rented premises, and if other prospective tenants had been shown through the house.

IIRC in the press conference, Jeff Liknes said his parents had sold their home a year ago and had been leasing it until they were prepared to move to their property in Edmonton. The plan was pretty loose--spend about three months in Edmonton, then some time in Mexico, then return to Edmonton. Jeff did not know how long Alvin and Kathy planned to stay in Mexico. Alvin's twin brother owned a house in Mexico--it was family property, and other family members vacationed down there. Apparently it was a recent purchase.

ctv Calgary 11pm news

Lady who has run estate sales as a business for the last 14 years said she never does one without security present and only one door open for in or out with all other house exits protected.

Sounds like she has experience with possible issues.

I can see people thinking the house is empty when you use the words "estate sale" as it implies the people are deceased. Perhaps if this was based on the online ads the person/people did not see the word "living" and/or did not understand what it meant and thought when they come back after the sale the house should be empty to pillage . I believe that both grandparents would use ever cell in their beings to protect Nathan so if there was an intruder not expecting anyone there things could have escalated very fast if Nathan was in harms way.

They sold the house in Calgary in Dec 2013 for a lowball price. They had owned the house for 17 years and still tripled their money. They bought a house in Edmonton (much cheaper). Alvin has a twin brother, an identical twin, that lives in Mazatlan, Mexico. It sounds like Alvin told people that they were moving North to Edmonton and Kathryn told people they had bought property (condo) in Mexico. In fact, they were going to live in Edmonton and hoped to visit Alvin's twin brother Allen in Mazatlan in about three months for an unspecified length of time. Parkhill, Calgary versus Edmonton? Isn't it no brainer ... Parkhill is nicer than every part of Edmonton?

Why did they sell short to leave Calgary ... liquidate ... after a six month lease on the house they sold (which would be worth an extra 100k six months later). Did they want to make sure that nothing was in their names? Were they leaving town because it was dangerous? What was behind all the facades of oil, gas, mining, web, looking to purchase property, and marketing companies? Was anyone taken advantage of ... as in revenge?

:-( Oh, Nathan.

Wrong place, wrong time.

Another thought. Full of rage, you are prepared to commit a crime against someone who you feel has wronged you. At the scene you are surprised by the presence of a small, innocent child and the reality of some very stiff consequences hits you. But now you're in too far. Would that be enough to make you change plans and flee with the bodies or attempt to cover your tracks and stage a kidnapping (cast suspicion towards the grandparents)?

Also on the news was Lindsay Buziak's father who is making and posting fliers. Lindsay was a realtor who was stabbed to death showing an empty home to a couple in BC. Her murder remains unsolved.

Add that to the timeline information that the house was sold in December 2013.

How do you get a "degree" in printing management? A degree in English, a certificate in printing?

She claims to be a Realtor: About Me (Kathyrn Liknes webpage)

"I am married with two children and have 11 grandchildren (10 Step and 1 of my own), I graduated many years ago and have a degree in Printing Management. I really never used my degree (silly I know) and the job I took in printing was a sales job and then that sent me on a different path. I am a Residential/Commercial Realtor in Calgary Alberta and I have just been introduce to a company called Nucerity. Nucerity has a product called Skincerity and I was intrigued that they could build a multi Million or Billion Dollar Company on one product. I join a couple of months ago, I was sceptical at first as it is a MLM Business but in a short time learned that the company really wants a person to succeed and they have great training and great commission structure. This in a roll on nightly breathable masque that you put on a night...anyway if you would be interested in learning more visit my website: www.beautyinthebottle.ca"

The maps I posted are from google maps. I modified them to identify the property, or aerial view, and garbage cans. No link other than Google maps.

How should maps that I create from library maps, with relevant details, be linked?

I don't know, otto. I have tried to justify quite a few things but KL's internet presence/business endeavors are just plain hinky to me. Add that to the bankruptcy and, well, this would have to be a major coincidence to not play a part here.

I agree. This is a major coincidence given the financial troubles, selling real estate "short" to a lawyer, bankrupcy two years ago (2012, or 2011?) (there are 24 month deadlines for second time offenders), a big internet profile with no substance for both grandparents, liquidating, advertising that they were liquidating all over the internet, vanishing on the last day of their lease on the property that they sold - ust before they could start their new life in Edmonton with a home in Mazatlan (another facade). Alvin's identical twin brother recently bought a property in Mazatlan and invited the family to visit.

There's something there.

Google streetview shows this at the end of their street (about 4 houses down from the Liknes' home):

It's the Elbow River Pathway (iirc) that runs alongside the river.

I'm going to go with this (the above link) for "how to" reference about linking maps that have been modified. This is from Google maps.

The front of the house ... street view google maps on 123 38A Ave SW Calgary

Google Street View of garbage bins that were searched by police.

The neighbourhood ... google maps with modifications

This is the city lot plan:

This is the bigger picture ... A marks the spot

Is the Elbow River Pathway connected to any other river branches?

A few places I guess, including:

College of the Ozarks

Ferris State University
Kean University
Pennsylvania College of Technology
Pittsburgh State University
Rochester Institute of Technology
University of Central Missouri
University of Wisconsin-Stout

From Google maps and routes with photoshop ... it looks like a straight shot from the house to the border.

In the getresponse link, participants at the seminar were to be introduced to their sales manager, Kathy Liknes. When I go to the webinar link in the article, it comes up that the seminar is over. From what I can gather it was scheduled for June 24 and was to be live.

Further checking on DB who posted the info includes a cell # that, when googled, brings up a plethora of other online businesses. I think this one hit in particular gives a good idea of how the business works:
