This is a stretch, but there's an M-surname here that's familiar to readers in Ancaster, Ontario who followed the Bosma case:

Then when you go to the event's clothing sponsor, you find an L-surname that "likes" the page. It's not the missing man, but the surname may be familiar to readers in Calgary.

Maybe their shoes are still there, purse/wallet left behind, things like that? IDK

I just had a real sickening thought. What if something was purchased at the sale and the buyer got home and found out it wasn't what it ought to be?

I just have a weird feeling about the statement "less of a mystery".

If the LE people have figured out why and how the three were abducted, that would be "less of a mystery" all right, but the potential for a horrible tragedy would remain undiminished.

I think using that expression is not a cause for relief, but only reflects professional objectivity. Frankly I think using that phrase strikes me as callous.


"It's not a mystery now. Move along. Nothing more to see." And yes, that will make a lot of people shrug and say - ho-hum. The police are 'moving forward'.

To me, red hot urgency should be maintained in every public venue.

Jumping off a post upthread - "Selling everything" made sense when we thought the couple was moving to Mexico to retire.

Now that we know their plan was going to have them living in Edmonton, this doesn't make sense. Edmonton is a 3-hour drive from Calgary. Storage pods can be rented easily and quite economically. Purchasing everything new again would be awfully expensive. Now, decluttering would seem reasonable. Selling furniture and "everything"... ??

(Perhaps the Edmonton home was purchased furnished? Very unusual, IMO).

Thinking more about the 300 people LE says we're in the Liknes' home this past weekend. 300! I sure hope "Well I was there for the sale and that's why my DNA/prints are at the crime scene" does not factor in to a future defense strategy.

I think you are grasping. I get what you mean, it just seems really out there. In debt to people from Mexico fits a bit better to me, IMO.

For what it's worth - my parents are downsizing. My mom wants to sell everything they have and get new modern smaller furniture. More like a fresh start.

That makes sense, but aren't there still things to pack? Clothes, shoes, heirlooms, photos, keepsakes, books, tools, lawnmowers, etc?

Good point, MaraSleuth. I hope it's something like that. Perhaps they were using some of their profits of their home sale to furnish their new place. I wish I knew what they paid for their Edmonton home. But anyway, big cash to start over.

However, I did reread the Globe and Mail article and saw that there was also discussion of AL's business declaring bankruptcy (along with his wife's bankruptcy).

My personal opinion would be that the Edmonton market is 15% cheaper than Calgary. But you could certainly spend 700k there and the cost of selling and moving your Calgary home would set you back for a bit. I wonder if KL sold her own home?
