Ok I googled "273149 range road 291 airdrie alberta" and on pg 2 the last info is labelled "url" and some strange cryptic wording What does it mean!?

273149!! Yes. That links up with the range of addresses that google maps gives that area too.

So the address is 273149 Range Road 291

I just remembered rural addresses work differently. They likely also have a separate mailing address that we could do a reverse whitepages/411 search on. Now sure how to get that alternate address though off the rural address. I'm looking into it.

Thanks so much Kitty Meow for that great series of photos and your comments about what you saw developing in Airdrie.

I didn't notice any ambulances in the vehicles, and you hadn't mentioned seeing any. Hope that means there's still hope for a positive outcome in all this!

You're more than welcome! and nope, no ambulances on scene, and media members said they hadn't seen any since they arrived at 10:30 this morning.

New here ~ took a couple of days to get registered but grateful to be able to post now.
Couple of thoughts and I do realize they may be dated at this point but I observed yesterday during the discussions regarding the green trucks, that the back rear windows were different from one another. One green truck had no window chrome accent dividers while the other truck seemed to have dividers. Obviously that is not an issue now if LE have indicated this is the vehicle shown on the video feed.
The second thought I had was in reference to the LE debriefing this evening. In retrospect I think in part it was a tactic by LE to get media away from the investigation scene by diverting media to LE HQ albeit for an uninformative debrief.
My thoughts regarding the individual in custody is that LE may be grasping at straws and are hoping they will be able to get info from the detainee while searching simultaneously the property. I only wonder why they brought in RCMP if they did not have any concrete leads. It could be a coincidence that this individual was in the area caught on tape and in turn happens to be wanted by LE for previous offences and may be unrelated to this case.

Someone mentioned about a possible incinerator in a picture today. I looked at the pic and it seemed to me to be an air whirly bird as we call them but basically an air exchanger on a roof....

Seeing all of the farm pics gives me a sick feeling, reminding me of the Tim Bosma case. :( I hope there is nothing even remotely similar, especially no copycatting, but this just seems all too familiar in a bad way. :( I hope I'm wrong. Kijiji. farm. truck. :sigh:

That's exactly what I said in the other thread Hamster, hope it isn't a copycat crime. A lot of coincidentals. Darn I cannot find the helicopter fly over video which was posted on Global, the one with no reporting, just the fly over. Did it go poof? Anyone?

Yes, you are right they usually have box #'s for their mail.

Google streetview shows this at the end of their street (about 4 houses down from the Liknes' home):

It's the Elbow River Pathway (iirc) that runs alongside the river.

It's not what I would call a forest, though. It's your typical treed pathway area.

a little down the page.

edit: sorry this isn't what you wanted! it has reporting.

I would imagine that they uploaded the video asap without reporting, then added the reporting once they could get someone to record it then re-uploaded the video.

Airdrie is in bottom left corner.

Thank you for all your help, kittymeow.

For wsers who are not local, this location does provide very quick access to the QE2 Highway ("Deerfoot"), which is a straight shot down into a Calgary and a few quick turns will have you on MacLeod Trail and into the Parkhill area. I know the distance and travel time have been posted but I just wanted to point out that it is a very easy drive from here to the Liknes' home.

Well, this was certainly an exciting day on Websleuths.
I have lurked here before but today this case gave me the impetus to finally join up and participate - such a strange case with none of the usual niggling concerns that it's all in the family. I must admit I've spent WAAAAAAY too long googling all kinds of stuff today in an effort to nut this thing out. Kudos to the Police of Calgary and the RCMP as they have a quiet sort of dignity which, although infuriating, hopefully means when they get their man (or men or women) that the REALLY get them with no compromising of the case by media etc.
I am still hoping against hope that there is a happy ending here but the gut feeling is that you don't sink that kind of manpower into a location like Airdrie unless there is a smoking gun. I'm wondering now if that flyer that people posted earlier with a Brooks location (south of Calgary) is enroute to another implicated destination/disposal location :(

Airdrie small population maybe 50,000. Someone out there must know al ot more JMO. Also the highest income on average.

Wow. I didn't know Airdrie had that many people! I've always thought it was smaller than that.
And I've lived in the Calgary my whole life :blushing:

I know when I lived on an acreage my address was RR1 Site 8 Box 32.
That's the address we used for everything.
But that was years ago, so maybe things have changed since then.

:dunno:

Well where's Jim Smyth when you need him? (OPP and busy, I understand). I'm hoping our CPS has an equivalent behavioural mastermind available to have a chat with a certain someone who's cooperating "to a degree." It's time to start talking; this poor family needs answers.

Yup for rural properties there's legal descriptions and rural addresses... and then mailing addresses. Every municipality has different rules about it, and each property owner can kind of pick what they use.

If I still worked at re/max it would be so easy to look this up properly! I remember having to work with rural addresses. It can get tricky.

I think you're right about that video...it was labelled RAW when it was first put up earlier today and about 6min or so long.....I'd saved the link you just posted and yeah :( it's been re-upped with commentary.....

BTW while I'm at it....thank you SO much for your onsite reports and pictures today!! Awesome job & it was like we were right there with you!! *you should have asked all your new reporter friends if there were any job openings!!* ;)

Do you have links to these fb pages?

Aw this is so nice! I had fun out there.

Anyway... still trying to figure out this darn rural address situation!

Wow! 25+ pages on this case since I logged off 8 hours ago! What a development. I haven't even caught up fully yet.

Like someone else stated, to me it looks like LE have found or are pretty sure they will find something of relevance on this property, given the presence of so much personnel.

I just hope it's not bodies ... :( But I hope they find something that leads them to Nathan and his grandparents!

Thanks to kittymeow for the fantastic inside scoop and the photos!

I have both a RR address and a legal land location. The RR address wouldn't help anyone know exactly where I lived but the land location would. When I worked for EMS thats the easiest way to find someones house is if they were able to give us there land location.
