I mentioned the day they finally took AL's truck in for evidence they showed the family at the house with footage of JO coming out the door removing blue paper booties and other family members sitting at the front and on the driveway near the truck. This was shown on Global News Calgary (or possibly Global National still looking for link)
The camera zoomed in on the family and included the side of the truck and front right side and wheel base and you could see dried mud on the body of the truck and inside the wheelbase.

I believe this was on Friday July 4, the day they mentioned the green truck. It bothered me because in the recent case in Lake Bonavista they didn't secure the scene until 12 hours later and didn't impound all the vehicles till later. In a missing case IMHO, a careful examination of vehicles should be warranted to see if they have been taken out and returned. It never should be assumed they have not been used just because they are sitting there. All of this IMHO.

I know the picture you mean, and in looking for it, found these.

Rear bumper - zoomed in, I can't see anything

Early in this mystery there was a strange separation in the messaging between Alvin and Kathryn Liknes, things like how the public was asked to look for young Nathan possibly in the company of his grandfather. Why was the grandfather getting more of the emphasis?

I only started reading about these people yesterday, and only read some media reports and the last couple of threads...........but this is one thing I did notice....and it makes me think that something happened to grandma.........now there are a few possible scenarios that could then come from that......grandad killed grandma and may have enlisted DG for help and grandad and Nathan are on the run, DG harmed her at the house and the others somewhere else. I really hope the little boy is ok. Must be so terrifying for his parents at the moment. But after seeing the search pictures yesterday I don't think it looks too good for the three of them. Certainly hope I am wrong.

If he's been to prison then LE definitely have his prints on file somewhere. It is commonplace for the Crown to request DNA now but I highly doubt it was when he was released 14 years ago.

It doesn't help when the RCMP closed three of it's labs last year.

Blood typing is quick (I've done it in a lab in school). DNA is not. If they could tell that there were different blood types they would have an idea how many victims they were dealing with.

Agree. With luck and coincidence, blood typing test could suggest which one(s) blood was found, but not necessarily. But how long for a marker such as gender?

Absolutely, NO is loved by his grandparents but if something accidentally happened and forbid with no hope in a recovery then maybe the Grandparents panicked.
I have seen many photos of the family, of AL and KL and they all appear loving and sweet. I don't want anyone to read into my post that I have ill preconceived thoughts of the family.

I missed reading your first post speculating that he may have been hurt during a domestic dispute...how devastating that would be :-( although at this point it is so hard to come up with a good scenario.

The best I can come up with is that someone in the family was hurt accidentally by an outsider and that outsider panicked and forced them all to leave with them. Now the outsider doesn't know how to get out of it and have them all captive somewhere.

Wow, great discovery PennyM. I haven't read this as yet and did not realize how close in time the financial crisis was. This does put a different light on the situation and continues my thoughts that it was a domestic crisis in the home. If one can imagine the stress levels of both AL and KL during a financial business solvency add to that personal financial issues maybe despite the sale of the home, the couple still were in too deep financially with creditors et al.

I think it's only been listed as rumour without MSM source, so congrats for being first with that...

Just remember that LE has said that they do not suspect AL or KL at this time. They are victims in this unless we are told otherwise.

I am starting to think someone is on the lamb and took NO with them.
Often times spouses shield one another from financial problems and if KL and AL got into a dispute late that night over their financials something may have occurred unplanned. If it was KL that was injured perhaps NO and AL are still alive and safe. That would be a better scenario for the family bringing some hope to them. With so many business dealings, maybe a vehicle was not so hard to come by for AL to leave with. Maybe he was planning on leaving all along with KL and a unknown vehicle was available to them. Would that be why they were selling everything. (I know it has been on MSM they were moving to Mexico, Edmonton etc which is why they said they were selling everything) but maybe the discrepancies of telling people different stories of where they were going was a rouse.

Hmmm. Just continuing to speculate on two rather worrisome (IMO) romantic relationships involving persons with a criminal past and AL's immediate family - one involving his son and DG's sister, the other involving his daughter and FC. Just sayin' Interesting. IMO. IMHO.

This is video of a reporter telling that he spoke with AL (AL's son) and he shares what AL told him.

I transcribed part of it:
We spoke to Allen Liknes who is the son of the missing Alvin Liknes. He is married to Garland's sister, and so he told us today on the phone that he was surprised the family was to see Garland's ... green pickup or what appeared to be his pickup in the pictures last Friday. He doesn't believe Doulgas Garland and his father, Alvin, have spoken in about seven years. ...

Douglas worked for Alvin but apparently when that business faltered the working relationship ended. It didn't* end on a bad note though apparently. Allen last saw Douglas Garland at Thanksgiving at his in-law's last fall, but he noted, he said Douglas wsas a bit of a loner and he didn't speak to him that much.

*I heard the word "didn't." Please correct me if you guys heard it differently.

Why the focus on DG then? Is it a distraction. As much as DG seems shady to me, my gut tells me he is not directly involved. I haven't ruled out indirectly. JMO.

I want to know what else all the people involved were doing to get $$$. My focus is on the estate sale.

Did the Liknes' have a buyer to come back "after hours" to get their goods? What about phone records? Nobody pulls those out these days?
