I am seriously at a loss in the case.

LE has expended a MASSIVE amount of resources on this search, and I do truly understand why, but, wth? They say the only the reason they are searching is because of the green truck being seen on camera. REALLY?

Things are NOT adding up, and they better release some more info, or there are going to be repercussions for it. This has been an extremely high profile search.

More info required for the public please. I bet half of Canada thinks the whole thing is solved, since they had the guy in jail and were searching his home.

Speculating ... maybe he confessed to murder but doesn't say where the bodies are, so they have to just keep searching. And they are waiting to charge him until they find them. Or he didn't confess but they are pretty sure it was him, result the same, they keep searching and wait with the charges.

Wow! Wells ... they are looking for bodies :(

It seems so
They really seem at a loss as to where to search if one is to believe the comment about only searching because of the green truck

I keep hoping for a bit of good news

Our ME office is in one of our hospitals. We don't have a separate one. ME's here don't always attend scenes. Sometimes they release bodies by telephone. Transport depends on the location and what resources are available.

They do have their own building the address in Calgary is 4070 Bowness Rd NW. It's the Medical Investigators that usually will call back when there is a new case. Then they decide if they come to the scene or if they just have to send the tech to pick up the bodies. I talk to Medical Investigators at my job and they decide if they will take the case or not. Medical Investigators are different then Medical Examiners that are the doctors that do the actual autopsies.

If you google the number on the link It comes back "A E Garland". I'm guessing those are his parents names ? Can anyone confirm that ?
If thats the case then it would be confirmed it was or is his company.

Yes. Was confirmed a couple of days ago. AEG is owner of property and father of DG.

I would say that things do add up. Three people vanished and there was a suspicious vehicle seen several times at the scene during the hours when the crime occurred. Police followed up on that suspicious vehicle and have linked it to a man with both a criminal history and close ties to the missing people. Police have used whatever they have to detain the person of interest, but their priority has always been to find the missing five year old child and his grandparents. They are using every resource available to search for them. The first place to search is the 40 acres where the person of interest lives.

The latest information is a request for rural people on all sides of the city to search their properties for anything that could be related to the disappearance of Nathan and his grandparents. That suggests that although police are thoroughly searching the acreage near Airdrie, nothing they have found indicates that they missing persons are on that property. That would mean that the person of interest could have put them in another location and police need tips from the public to identify possible crime scenes.

It seems like an evolving investigation ... something that will obviously take time if the person of interest is viewing this as an example of his clever criminal abilities. I wonder if his parents have spoken with him, and if that could help in getting more information ... if he is involved.

Wondering how solid the grandparents relationship is. With all their reports of bankruptcy, selling the family home and then both telling different stories on where they were moving, what if they were splitting up? That would be another reason to sell all their belongings. Neither wanting to take "memories" with them.

Police have revealed the 'person of Interest' and missing grandfather had money dealings that soured
CBC News Posted: Jul 09, 2014 9:14 AM MT Last Updated: Jul 09, 2014 11:29 AM MT

Calgary police investigating the disappearance of five-year-old Nathan O'Brien and his grandparents say there is "bad blood" related to money between Douglas Garland, the "person of interest" in the case, and the missing grandfather.

Police say they are not aware of any specific business deals between Garland and Alvin Liknes, but money was involved.

I had assumed that this was a company that Douglas Garland established for working with oil/gas exploration companies ... like the companies that Alvin Liknes established.

Alternatively, they were two peas in a pod that figured out how to separate people from their money, and then use bankruptcy to eschew responsibility.

Per the above article you guys can sleuth the business dealings between DG and AL only. No sleuthing of innocent people indirectly involved and that includes both families and business associates.

sorry if I missed this, but were DG's parents ever located?

Sorry...I'm in a different province. The ME has an office outside of the hospital but they do the autopsies at one of our large hospitals. I deal with them in my province and it seems to be a bit different.
