But wouldn't that be applied to the bankruptcy?

Not if the sale of the house occurred after the bankruptcy, or the house was not in the grandmother's name, since she is the only person who declared personal bankruptcy recently. The purpose of a bankruptcy is so that you no longer have to service debts.

Side question: how often/rarely is a hitman caught? It seems to be very, very rarely heard of either the capture or confession of a hitman. Also, would one be likely to use the Internet to look for a hitman? (Partly why I was wondering if the investigators searched DG's computer)

I absolutely believe this was a professional hit and *if* so, these victims probably won't be found. Hit men aren't often caught.

Not trying to be judgemental but maybe because their furniture was hideous and they wanted to buy nicer stuff? It all looked 20 years old. I wouldn't take it either.
Sometimes I think Folks use the word "Estate Sale" to attract people, personally I think it is a huge mistake..

Like many others, I've been following this case every moment I can...some great theories and lots of great questions...but the one question that nags at me is...the morning that JO went to pick up NO from grandparents house, something made her call the police when she entered...and a few hours later AL's brother shows up because he was concerned AL hadn't answered his phone...my question is...why wasn't somebody calling every family member they could think of to ask if they'd seen AL or KL...maybe its not important but it just bothers me!!!!

I have two questions that niggle me too; firstly, why was the truck spotted only up until JO was to pick up NO and not after 10:00am? secondly, who met whom first? Did DG introduce his sis to AL/son, or did AL/dad know DG and intro'd DG's sis to his son. Or rather, how did they all become acquainted? Drives me bananas.

Sorry to be morbid but the glenmore reservoir would be a pretty horrible place to dump a body or bodies. It's not secluded, and would be difficult to find a place to make the drop without being seen. Besides, there is a psychiatric ward in the hospital that is right near the reservoir and sadly enough it is not uncommon to find former patients in the water - I think the last such publicized incident was not even a few months ago.

That... And the bodies would be spotted very quickly. They're not going anywhere and there is so much activity in and around there. The only reason someone would ever dump a dead body there is if they wanted it to be found quickly.

They'd be better off quickly running down to the bow river which is very close to the parkhill residence and taking their chances that the bodies don't wash up until quite far downstream.

Run off was still high'ish June 30th, so dumping at twin bridges on hwy 8 would be easier, even from discovery ridge. mind you it's snaggy through the T'Su Tsina nation, but with good flow could make the reservoir.

What happened first:

Garland's Sister met Alvin's Son, they introduced Alvin and Douglas, or
Garland was doing business with Alvin and introduced his sister and Alvin's son.

Either way, there appears to be both a familial and business relationship between the victim and person of interest.

I agree Cathdawg. More precious things like silver, antiques, etc are best handled through antique dealers and the like. Old, well worn stuff good old garage sale (not inside the home).

One route is Macleod Trail to Glenmore Trail (to the Glenmore Reservoir), the other route is Blackfoot Trail to Deerfoot Trail (to Airdrie).

To get to Blackfoot you have to go up 47th or 48th which is narrow and more subject to cctv and being the holiday weekend would draw suspicion. It's not far to Glenmore Trail and there's less likelihood of anyone remembering seeing a vehicle on that artery to Deerfoot. 48th would have an assortment of live and cctv type witness, imo.

[modsnip]

What I found strange about the ad was that she was soliciting buildings when I doubt that there was a buyer. She declared bankruptcy in 2012, the house was not in her name (that's from an early link), and although she may once have had a real estate licence, I doubt she still had it.

She removed her name from the house title in 2012, he removed his in 2013. In June, 2014, his company declared bankruptcy, the lease was paid, the employees were paid, the office was cleaned out, the assets might be in Mexico, the family has vanished, but it was not of their own volition. It's almost like they planned to disappear, and then someone made them disappear. If Nathan had not been with them, what would people be thinking ... a couple liquidated everything, said they were leaving the country, and they left a mess behind (assuming no blood), no reason to think twice until several months had passed? Make it look like a man murdered his wife, dragged her out of the house and vanished ... not even knowing about Nathan until the plan was put in play and the grandfather was already injured. Without Nathan, this would look very different.

Yes but the address listed is an established real estate company in downtown Calgary. So she must have just been working.

I said it earlier but KL did not post the ad on that website. It is a spam site that scrapes the ads off of kijiji. I am 99.9% sure of this.

Center Street SE to Fairmont Dr SE right now cordoned off, 15 cop cars at scene , Shell station marked off with crime tape, appear to be looking for someone.

Cop cars aren't all together but spaced out along road

15 cop cars seems excessive if just for robbery IMHO

How is it going there??

They probably met at a bar....

I helped at a good old garage sale today. Tables were set up, everything was laid out in rows, nothing in the garage was for sale, there was a lemonade stand run by a 6 year old - 25cents a glass. It was a different type of sale at the Liknes house. Since furniture was being sold, it makes sense that it was a walk-through sale, as it spares the owners the trouble of moving heavy furniture down stairs ... the buyers do it for them.

At the garage sale that I attended, all the action was between 7AM and about 12:30PM. Most things were gone, the deal was one for a dollar (book, clothing item, etc.), take the whole box and it's free. The majority of the people that attended did not speak English as a first language, and did not speak English amongst themselves. There were roughly 100 people including children and people that didn't buy ... something to think about when questioning why the full 200 did not meet with police. Police stated that they were interested in people that attended the sale and if something was purchased, to bring a photo. It was only after that started that people learned about fingerprinting for elimination. The wives and children probably stayed home.

The Truck...the more it is talked about it the more I am confused... The truck in question was it the truck seen beside the Porsche in the pic used pictorially as a truck they where looking for?

LE said they confiscated the truck last week on the Farm...and it was confiscated...Thanks

I think that's the website office, not a physical work location. I don't think she was working as a realtor, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn that she was trying to do some buying and selling on the side.

A mint condition 1991-93 green Ford T150 was found on the Airdrie acreage. That truck is rare. A similar rare truck was seen more than once near the crime scene during the hours in question. Most 20-25 year old trucks are well worn. It was removed from the property on July 4 at about 6PM. The media learned about activity on the Airdrie property the following day, July 5, at about 11AM. Whatever it is news footage is not the truck in question ... no matter what the news station implies.

As for bodies being found in the Bow River and Reservoir has a lot to do with Summer fun. But the one at Glenmore Trail struck me as suspicious after reading otto's route and other dumping theories. and it could explain the very light dusting of mud on AL's truck. This is a bike path too and easy access to the Bow. There are many places one can get close to the Bow without drawing much attention. If one doesn't spend much time the Bow one might not know there is a gravel bar here most of the time; 50.986596, -114.026471 copy/paste to google maps. oh, btw, glenmore park is gated after 11:00pm, so the reservoir wouldn't be accessible easily.

So, everyone, how would you interpret the police's saying the case was "Less of a mystery" on July 3? He was saying "We are getting good information coming in" when he said that, so it seems it was the information that came in that made it less of a mystery, rather than some kind of discovery in the house. So perhaps the family provided possible motive and suspects.

Watching Global news now, don't see anything about this on the news. Just something about a rented bus that got its roof smooshed when driving under an overpass (that it obviously couldn't clear) near the Stampede grounds.

The bike path does not provide a good opportunity to put a body in the water, but the Glenmore Trail bridge over the reservoir does.
