''At around 8:44 a.m., a passerby found a woman passed out in a laneway near Sherbourne and Dundas Sts.

“Someone came by driving a blue Kia Rio and volunteered to take her to the hospital,” Const. David Hopkinson told the Sun.

“She was loaded into the car, and the car disappeared. We cannot find her, she’s not made it to the hospital.”

''Toronto police have charged a man with kidnapping after a woman who was unconscious after an apparent drug overdose was allegedly abducted.

The alleged victim, identified as Amber Johnson, 33, of Toronto, is still missing.''

''Officers have since located the vehicle and arrested a suspect. James Felfoldi, 51, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and fail to comply with parole.


Police have not found Johnson. She’s described as five-foot-eleven, 160 pounds with an average build, and short brown hair. She was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeve hoodie, blue cut-off jean shorts, and black and white running shoes.''

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a woman.

On Monday, July 13, 2020, at 8:44 a.m., officers responded to a call for an overdose in the Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East area.

It is alleged that:

- a woman suffered an apparent overdose and was rendered unconscious

- she was placed inside a car by a man

- concerned citizens challenged the man regarding her safety

- the man indicated he was taking her to hospital

- the man disappeared with the woman, never making it to hospital

- officers have located the car

- the man has been arrested but the woman remains missing

James Felfoldi, 51, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:

1. Kidnapping
2. Fail to Comply with Parole

He will appear in court, at College Park, on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, via media conference, at 10 a.m.

Amber Johnson, 33, of Toronto, is still missing. She is described as 5'11", 160 lbs., with an average build, and short brown hair. She was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeve hoodie, blue cut-off jean shorts, and black and white running shoes.

I was just reflecting on how statistically nearly all missing persons cases resolve in safe recovery but only maybe half of the ones who make it to Websleuths do. I hope Amber appreciates that someone loved her enough and was worried enough about her to amplify her story this much in one day. That lifestyle often ends tragically.

Can't help wonder about the backstory here because LE typically mention whenever someone is "living a high risk lifestyle". Did this woman overdose herself or is it something else?

I'm always surprised at how few details on these cases emerge in Canada but from what we have the situation I'm visualizing is that he took her to his house where something happened and then she regained consciousness and went back to the streets. The police found him relatively quickly but took some time to find her. It sounds like the kidnapping charges were filed before they found her so they may end up dismissed if she just, for example, regained consciousness in his car on the way to the hospital and asked to be dropped off somewhere. For all we know he might have administered Narcan himself but something about the guy must have been pretty suspicious to the bystanders and the police too, I'm guessing he's on parole for something in this kind of ballpark already. All speculation.

Sending good wishes to Amber, glad to see she was found despite it (imo) sounding like it would have ended tragically. Whatever her circumstances are, I hope that from now on she founds ways to heal and lead a healthier life if stories of overdose are true. Addicts are not "bad" people, just people struggling with mental health issues. I talked to my therapist once how the chaotic state of the world, economic issues and systematic oppression contribute to mental illnesses of all kinds. People finds healthy and not healthy ways to just "cope" with reality.

Exactly! Most addiction issues are rooted in horrible traumas the addict has endured. Addicts deserve love and support just like everyone else. They turn to drugs when they can't cope with their circumstances and/or mental illness etc.

Very happy to see Amber was found safe.

Woman located following alleged kidnapping in downtown Toronto: police

Concerned bystanders challenged the man regarding the woman’s safety and he indicated that he was taking her to the hospital, police said.

However the man disappeared with the woman and never arrived at hospital, according to police."

We still don't know what kind of scenario this was. It doesn't state anything about this woman having been a drug addict or that she did in fact suffer from an overdose.

I find it bizarre that this man just happened to be there at the scene, ready to abduct this woman. Was it really just a crime of opportunity or ? He doesn't look like the do-gooder type Imo.
