Essentially, Campbell's DNA is not on any items that Suzunski tested from the Heathbell site.

Watch the defense with this. :(

Natasha Pace‏@NatashaPace2 mins

There was a "strong indication" it's Kirwan's blood. Suzunski won't say anything is 100%.

https://twitter.com/NatashaPace

With these odds tho.......

Natasha Pace ‏@NatashaPace 43m
The odds work out to 1 in 1.4 trillion. "It's a big number" Suzunski says of it being someone other than Kirwan's DNA.

Part 2 of tweet series from DNA expert, Dr. Thomas Suzanski.

Lunch Break!! Trial will resume at 2 pm AST; or 1 pm EST.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC4 mins
Crown requesting lunch break. Back at 2 pm.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC6 mins
Suzanski says the stained black top found in Falconer's car had male and female DNA. Strong indication that Amber Kirwan was a match.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC8 mins
Mason Campbell's DNA did not match any samples, according to Suzanski.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC9 mins
Suzanski says this case was very complicated. Many exhibits had to be reexamined.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC2 mins
Correction: bottle cap in Falconer's car was not conclusive.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC3 mins
Suzanski says DNA on ball cap originated from 3 people, but he didn't find a conclusive match.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC5 mins
Suzanski says DNA found on towel wrapped around Kirwan's wrists did not match Mason Campbell.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC8 mins
Suzanski tested Falconer's boots. Number of spots tested presumptively positive for blood.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC33s
Suzanski says several items from Falconer's car as well as a cigarette butt from Mason Campbell's car were tested.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC2m
Suzanski says DNA in syringe didn't match Kirwan or two other unknown male samples he previously collected.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC3m
Suzanski says a syringe found in a ditch nearby was also tested.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC4m
Suzanski says swab of kitchen chair was inconclusive.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC2 mins
Suzanski says too many mixtures on knife, which makes it difficult to get accurate result.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC6 mins
Two pieces of duct tape had Kirwan's DNA on it. Both were found in trailer.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC10 mins
DNA expert Thomas Suzanski says hair on duct tape in camper was Kirwan's.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC12 mins
Suzanski says that "happens all the time."

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC13 mins
Suzanski says there wasn't enough DNA on Falconer's knife to create a reliable result.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC13 mins
Suzanski says DNA of two, maybe three people found on towel. Male and female.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC16 mins
Suzanski says no male DNA was detected in Kirwan's vaginal, rectal or anal area.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC18 mins
Suzanski says Amber Kirwan's DNA was found on black cloth found in camper trailer.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC22 mins
Suzanski the black cloth found in camper trailer had male and female DNA.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC23 mins
Suzanski says several preliminary tests were inconclusive.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC27 mins
The hemostix tests that police officers use on scene is a presumptive test.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC28 mins
Suzanski explaining test that accurately identifies the presence of blood.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC30 mins
Suzanski says a small portion of Kirwan's clothing was cut to sample for DNA.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC32 mins
Clothing and towel tied around Kirwan's wrists also swabbed.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC32 mins
A knife reportedly from Chris Falconer also swabbed, according to DNA expert Thomas Suzanski.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC34 mins
Suzanski says a fingernail and several other swabs were taken from Amber Kirwan.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC36 mins
Suzanski examined samples pulled from the black leggings, Kirwan's toothbrush and a ball cap,

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC40 mins
Suzanski says several hairs were pulled from black leggings found in Heathbell.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC42 mins
DNA expert Thomas Suzanski now being asked to refer to his own report from Oct. 14, 2011.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC43 mins
Judge and jury back in court room.

Angela MacIvor‏@AngMacIvorCBC48 mins
Suzanski about to continue his testimony. He is a DNA expert.

They need to get his DNA on her or her clothing for this to be a slam dunk. They have proven in my mind that Amber was at least held in this camper. But lots of people could have been in the camper while the owners were away for the night.

Another thing that really worries me is why in the name of god was he driving around with a blood stained shirt? This was even after they had found the body and he knew it! He was smart enough to wear gloves to not leave fingerprints but not smart enough to get rid of a bag with his shirt covered in her blood? It's just not adding up for me. Of course who knows what a cold blooded killer is thinking!

Agree. I wonder why he had that shirt in the car as well. If I am getting the facts straight it is Falconers muscle shirt. Not Ambers? If it was Ambers I might think it was a "trophy" ? Perhaps it all the aftermath he simply forgot he shoved it in that bag?

  • #566
Maybe he is just lazy and didn't get around to throwing out that bag yet?? Maybe he forgot it was there? I dunno... So strange.

Good points. I, too, have some of these questions.

BBM - I'm sure we have all heard that he has a low IQ; but the two as you have stated above really makes it look as if there could be something else at play here, at least imo.

BBM - This is not the same shirt that Amber wore under her black and blue top.

That one was found with the straps ripped. I believe it was part of the binding used for her hands, but I'm going to go back an confirm exactly where Amber's tank top turned up.

The man's tank top found in the back of the grey Chevy, in the plastic bag, is believed to belong to Falconer. I don't know if they can confirm that 100%; but his girlfriend yesterday did say that he often wore tops of that design, and he had some black ones.

But the one they are talking about today--found with Amber's DNA--is definitely assumed to be Falconer's, at this point.

I have found in many Trials there are some "quirky" questions and never an explanation. Evident he wore gloves (and I do think a condom). I guess sometimes there isn't any rhyme or reason to a killers actions. IMO. Thinking back he left the leggings and earrings where they might be discovered. Why not just burn them? Or rid them far away from the crime scene.

Agree. I wish they would refer to Ambers shirt as a tank top and Falconers as a muscle shirt. Very odd he kept it tho.

BBM - The way I understand it, it was pretty well saturated--all they way down to the very bottom of it.

I wonder what would have became of the shorts or pants he had on--or hopefully had on.

Excuse me for saying this, but it is quite possible it would have began to smell, too.

But still, it is always possible to forget something. If he took it off first, I suppose it could have gotten separated from everything else; and overlooked in the final clean up.

My other theory is that someone could have placed it there unbeknownst to Falconer.

I'm not defending him--I believe he had a big part in Amber's abduction and murder. No tears will be shed by me if the jury convicts him of first degree murder--in fact, I will be relieved.

I'm just saying, though. It looks to me like someone else was also involved.

All in imnshoo, of course.

Gosh, this is frustrating. Could be considered evidence towards rape, though.

Presumptive test for semen in Kirwan was positive, vaginal and anal - no DNA profile could be gotten

They don't have to have his dna to prove sexual assault. SOB

BBM - Yes, I agree. Few and far between answer all the questions.

I noted this morning they did find semen in two places, although it was too deteriorated to be identifiable.

Again, what was found and where is more interesting--maybe--than what was not found.

Someone obviously wanted her found, spreading her things around like clues--evening hanging her beautiful and much loved earrings in a tree!

But was it all too obvious? Did it point a little too directly to Falconer?

He was involved, though. He absolutely was.

imo

Precisely. Arrogant, 🤬🤬🤬, predator and, IMO murderer. Bas*ard. What did he do to Amber? :furious:

The have already said they can't prove sexual assualt.

It's just little things such as those contained in the tweet I quoted that will hopefully lead the jury to question it.

He is charged with first degree murder. I'm not sure of the secondary charges--I'm hoping there are some though.

For the first time since the trial began, I don't see Mason Campbell in the courtroom. He was Amber's boyfriend.
