''Tuccaro was staying at the Nisku Place Hotel with her son and a friend, after flying into Edmonton International Airport from Fort McMurray on Aug. 17 for a medical appointment.''

''Amber, who was from Alberta’s Mikisew Cree First Nation, was last seen on Aug. 18, 2010, in Nisku, Alta. just outside of Edmonton.

She arrived with a female friend and Jacob, who was 14 months old at the time, from Fort McMurray, where she was living with her mother. Their plan was to stay the night outside the city to save money, and head into Edmonton the next day.

Amber was too excited and decided to hitchhike into the city that night. When she didn’t return by the next day, the friend called her mother, who then called the RCMP.''

From Mikisew first nations, but she lived in Fort McMurray, the oil capital of Canada. (The Oilsands) nothing but rigs up there.
Normally I would assume the police checked out her phone bill or her friend's phone bill ( something, anything) to see if she had any contact with anyone working on the rigs back in the summer of 2010. brutal investigation , so who knows? I hope they didn't get stuck on just the people in the Nisku area.

Considering the recent arrest of this man accused of murder, anybody from anywhere could travel to the area, imo, speculation.

''Ronald Ackerman, 50, is charged with first-degree murder following the 1998 killing of Donna Ogilvie in Toronto.
A man flying home to Newfoundland after working a two-week turnaround in the oilsands was arrested by Toronto police for murdering a pregnant sex worker in 1998.''

“We need to find out what he’s been doing over the past 25 years and make sure that there are no other victims, whether sexually motivated or homicides that he could be involved in,” said Smith.''

I just cant stop thinking about why Nisku, saving money on a hotel would mean they'd spend a fortune on cabs. Is it possible they made arrangements to meet someone , someone travelling ? What time did she leave to go out? her mom said the roommate told her amber left in the middle of the night, other podcasts say it was early evening.

Nisku is active in the daytime, all oilfield people meeting in different restaurants, everyone knows each other, but at night, ... not much going, on like a ghost town. buiest place would be the strip club, and even then there are only 5 people in there. or they're glued to a video lottery terminal somewhere. What are the odds a serial killer is trolling in Nisku? It's not exactly the place to be looking for girls.
At that time, there were many Missing women found in various places, but there were 5(?) found within a 5 mile radius of eachother. I believe most of these women found were from the DT edmonton sex trade area, Amber was not, all from the same area downtown ( not amber) , and all left in the same place.
Is it the same killer? Did he normally go DT to get girls ? But this night, he didn't? and why was this person in Nisku? because you're only there if you have to be.

I don't know how it works in Nisku, but where I live I'm 100% sure I'd save money staying first night in cheap motel in the middle of nowhere if I'd arrive there late or on weekend.
Cab tariffs are pretty crazy sometimes. Like the drive that costs about 20$ Monday morning is 40 in the evening and could be more than 80$ on the weekend.
Anyone has any idea how it worked there?

In 2010 pre uber it was priced per km.
Saving money on a hotel for the first night would be ok if they were changing hotels and /or didn’t need to cab to the city.often. . it’s been a while since I’ve had to take a cab but back them
It was about 50 bucks to go from the airport to the south-side city limits
if they were going to move to a hotel in Edmonton then fair enough but to travel back and forth everyday wouldn’t be cheap.

Back in the 2000's Nisku would have still been active outside of the hours of 6am- 9pm. Oil was booming. Outside of retail, Nisku would not have necessarily been completely shut down at night. Sure admin goes home but things still happen out in the field and support is required in a moments notice. EX: “hotshots” ----- urgent (equipment) delivery to/between job sites. As well, most drill hand employees had key fobs to access yards/buildings 24 hours a day. It's the nature of the business. While the girls might not have much to do up there between 9pm - 6am, the hustle was still on. And just to add, the voice recorded is most likely not of a local and there's a good chance they aren't even from Alberta. MOO.

I know what you are saying, its not a complete ghost town at night, I dont know how to describe it, lets just say, I know someone whos had an oilfield business in Nisku for about 30 years, its a little place with nothing going on but business. so exactly like you said, only reason to be there would be for work, if you click on" things to do" on the map it will say " nothing" ( lol)
it's a little industrial (hamlet??) in between 2 cities and its purposeis is mainly accommodate the oil industry. The only thing is her hotel was on the leduc side of Nisku which comes directly from airport road. so there may be a little more traffic over there.

Probably also why that one guy gets discussed a lot, because his farm is in Rolly view, which is close to where the victims were found.

So when you hear him saying we're going towards 50 st and "East" the direction of that blue line is going east from nisku towards Beaumont. Edmonton is north of Nisku. and doesn't look like she went even one block north.

in 2010 I think the oilfield was starting to get busy, so the stats on rigs working in 2010 as opposed to earlier yrs increased ( maybe it could be a new hire?) It crashed again in 2014. There are little trends that may offer more information on things they could look for.

This is the movie about how they collected DNA from the sex trade workers in Edmonton. It was in response to the pickton murders and the inability to identify victims. After Vancouver, Edmonton Is considered an epi ctr for missing and murdered indigenous women. The movie is called who cares also may be found as "who Kares" because of K division RCMP and project Kare. Ambers DNA was not collected this way, but I believe one of the victims also found in this area was.

full movie available on National film board website

There are many more serial killers than we are aware of in Canada, who are active. I think it's likely that Amber's killer has never been caught, or even been on LE's radar for anything.
