Anthony Philip Porter

Case Classification: Endangered Missing
Missing Since: June 26, 1969
Location Last Seen: Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada
Description:
Porter disappeared from Kimberley, British Columbia on June 26, 1969. He left his family residence around 1:00 pm and was expected home around 5:30 pm for dinner but never returned. He has never been heard from again.
At 10:30 that night, Porter's family received a phone call from a man requesting $100,000 for the return of their son. A few weeks later, a ransom note was received with instructions on where to leave the money at a cabin in Wycliffe. On July 26, 1969, the police were surveilling the area and observed Earle Bennett’s vehicle approach the cabin where he subsequently went inside.
Bennett was arrested, charged with extortion, convicted, and was imprisoned for three years. He only admitted to being part of the extortion and that he acted alone, taking advantage of the fact that Porter was missing. Although Bennett remained a subject of interest, he never confessed to having involvement in Porter's disappearance and died in a plane crash shortly after he was released.
Despite extensive searches including an intensive search of the Bennett Farm, Porter has never been located.
