Recovered/Located Canada - April Burkle, 34, from Texas, missing in Toronto, 21 Oct 2019

By the sounds of this latest report... everything seems to be hearsay to Cauthen from 'friend'. It doesnt sound like she spoke with her at all. Weird that 'friend' has moved back to the States instead of trying to find her. Seems to be a lot more going on than is being released. Should we be looking for woman who matches her description dragging luggage around with her?? I worry about 'friend'.
BBM. Yesterday I watched a longer video elsewhere, in which a couple more details were mentioned. I'd replace the word "instead" in the above sentence with another word.

Has it been confirmed that she was indeed with the 'elopee' and seen by police?? Weird coincidence. If that story is true why wouldnt her aunt set off alarms that something is wrong? She could have easily told the police that she was concerned about her mental health. Wonder if she spoke to her at all or only the police. Sorry, I keep posting all these questions. I should just sit on my hands and wait till we get more information. ughhh!
BBM. IMO that part could be easily confirmed by the police. They weren't just seen but taken to the police station. It could be that her behavior wasn't weird enough to warrant detention.

I think the police officer was asked but wouldnt confirm.. I would hope that if her aunt was contacted that they would consider something was a bit off if she raised concern. Maybe not detention but a bit more investigation into her circumstances. I would hope.

She interacted with the police 11 days after flying in and refusing to go with her friend. She was found with (seemingly) a stranger. Where did she leave her things at? So far I don't see how her friend would be responsible. She had opportunity to go to the authorities if she was threatened by him.

I wouldnt necessarily say that the 'friend' was responsible but I do find that not raising any flags to family and friends immediately and leaving Canada without finding her is a bit odd. I personally would feel a responsibility considering she came to visit me. IMO

If she didn't break any laws and didn't seem like a threat to herself or others, I'm not sure they could prevent her from leaving. We don't know what she told them.

I totally agree...but what was the conversation with her aunt all about then?? The police were concerned enough to call an aunt in the States about her well being. Just seems a bit off to me. My hinky meter is all. shrug.

Do we know when he left Canada? If/when he notified the family? It's been three weeks since her arrival and the police has taken over. Her family and friends are likely witholding some background info from public to protect her privacy.

She did not have any ID on her. Maybe the aunt was called to check out her story.

Forgive me if I’ve missed this detail, but has this friend been identified (as in do we know his name)? I’m asking because I find it odd that it’s not being used openly like let’s say her other friend from AR.

Why did she update her fb to say that she lives in Toronto?? That is another weird one for me. Was her 'friend' in Hamilton only for a while and returning to the States or was she planning on staying in Toronto after he left?? What were her plans? This is crazy.

Exactly! Wouldnt her aunt wonder wtf her ID was?? It just doesnt make any sense to me.

No, he has not been publicly named. In some articles they call him "boyfriend" instead of "friend". There's a boyfriend on her SM from a while ago, but I'm not sure if they are the same person.

Her friend from AR contacted the media and was on the news, that's why we know her name.

Maybe she told the aunt a believable story as well. We'd have to ask her.

ETA: In the article below it's stated that she claimed that she had either lost her ID/phone or that they had been stolen. Additionally, her family thought at first that she needed some time for herself. That's probably why the alarm wasn't raised sooner.

Contains a video interview with her close friend. Sometimes listening to someone helps you pick up on details you may not otherwise by just reading articles (IMO)
