This has been posted a few times already, but here it is again. Unfortunately, as the story is updated, some content is changed so some of the original news articles are difficult to find.

"Police divers spent Monday and Tuesday searching the waters of Riviere des Prairies, with investigators stating they have a credible witness placing Ariel near the waterfront at the time of his disappearance."

Thank you.
Parc des Bateliers IS "near" the waterfont. They still would have needed to walk on wet and slippery snow in order to cross paths "at" the waterfront. JMO

The quote I posted states that police were searching a park where Ariel was seen at the "waterfront". I believe that means that he was at the waterfront in the park. Furthermore, we have this map provided by the media. The map indicates a very specific location at the park. Ariel and the credible witness walked on the path in the parkway leading to the waterfront. Ariel clearly went off the path (if information from police is correct) and went closer to the waterfront. Other photos posted of the search show that the area is covered in snow, which is not the same as "slippery".

Thank you to Hazel for providing this image from media update on the case:

The snow fell on Tuesday, the day after he disappeared.

That must be why the witness and Ariel were walking the park pathways on Monday. Clear, snow-free pathways would be very inviting.

I hope LE can talk to Ariel's friends and ask if they went together to the park during summer, fall, winter.

I think it is possible that Ariel has more friends around the apartment complex, and maybe when his dad dropped him off at Ismael's to possibly play video games, other friends came knocking and they all as a group went to play outside like boys do. They could have played soccer for a while, then off to the pathways and to the park. Maybe some friends have bicycles.

It seems to me that the father is very convinced that his son would have said "no" when enticed by other friends to go play outdoors, and perhaps that was not the case.
After all, we know that "boys will be boys."

So my point is, it could be possible that Ariel thought he could find his friend at the park, and headed there that Monday morning. He was sad when he found no one there.

All just speculation, but I think a female LE could talk and ask these questions to Ariel's friends, and let them know they will not get in trouble for telling the truth. JMOO

Does any parent know their child 100%? Sometimes with friends or without they totally forget/ignore, see something worth exploring and off they go without another thought.

Perhaps a female LE talking to his friends would help. They may feel more comfortable telling her anything they know if getting into trouble is a big fear.

I take "near the waterfront" to mean anywhere in the park including at the entrance. I've not seen anywhere that LE specifically indicates at what location the witness met up with Ariel. Did I miss something? What was the basis on which the media produced that map with the red dotted line ending near the water... speculation?

This information clearly states that there is footage showing him enter the park, and a witness who spoke to him "in" the park. I don't think there's any reason to assume that "in the park" or "at the park" means on the road near the park.

"The last time he was seen at 11:25 am (Monday, March 12), he was talking to a lady in the park. We have images of surveillance cameras that show the boy entering the park, but none that shows that he has come out"

Okay, so in the park. But that could be anywhere in the park, why the red dotted line ending at the water?

You're very welcome otto, but my understanding was that the witness was at the park , I haven't read anything about the witness walking on the pathway(s), but I could be wrong. There are benches at the park, and all this time I was under the assumption that the witness was perhaps sitting on one of the benches. I read the witness talked to Ariel, not that she walked alongside Ariel.

I'm quoting you:

You know what, I think as a parent if I was not allowed to speak to the witness, not allowed to see the footage, I might feel uneasy about the whole investigation too...the more I think about it. It's my child, let me help.

I couldn't stand waiting around for days on end helplessly while divers, sonars, boats and helicopters are scouring the river when the weather allows it, whithout any definite proof he drowned.
These parents are going through such an unbearable nightmare.

So none of his clothing has been found, is that correct?

  • #716
If the police will not disclose information concerning the witness or her identity, they probably have a good reason not to. It may hamper the investigation, or it may be for her safety...it was stated that she was in shock....

He was in the park, and he was at the waterfront. The red dotted line indicates the path from the road to the waterfront, as that is the last known location of Ariel before he disappeared. After that point, where he spoke to the credible witness, there are no witnesses or CCTV of him.

The witness spoke to Ariel at the waterfront. The only way to get to the waterfront is via a path. On that basis, I believe the woman walked on a path to get to the waterfront where she saw Ariel and spoke to him.

Absolutely... I don't mean that the decision is wrong. Just that as the parent, it would feel like you were being excluded from the investigation. Perhaps a reason why they are acting the way that they are.

Okay, so I'm looking at the map with the benches. We know Ariel was on CCTV at 11:15 up by the Garage on the way to his friend's house, correct? How on earth did he get all the way down to Parc des Bateliers by 11:25 after knocking on his friends door? That's not a leisurely stroll, he would have to be almost running.
