THIS was Audrey:

“She had a positive influence on every life she touched,” Lynne said at the memorial. “She was private. And caring, kind, shy at times. Chatty when you got to know her. Stubborn. Fair. Real. A beautiful mind. A kind soul. Extremely intelligent. Funny. Eccentric. Generous. Giving. There are not enough words to properly describe our Audrey. She was unique and very special.”

Was re-reading on DLS ... still wondering IF ...

Homeless guy, schizophrenic, hunting knife, breach of probation, mental health issues, etc. Understandable that LE would hone in on him rather quickly.

Whatever the mountain of disclosure consisted of though, it seems that at least one major piece of evidence exonerated him. Now, if everything seemed to point to DLS, but that one piece eliminated him, i would think that LE would sit back on their hineys and say "well dang .. we KNOW he's our guy but we just can't prove it, so there's nothing more we can do right now". Did they do that? NOooo ... whatever it was that eliminated David as numero uno perp resulted in LE having to go back to scratch, to those who knew Audrey well.

Sorry for so many posts in a row here ... all you easterners are prolly in bed or battening down the hatches for Hurricane Sandy. Stay safe peeps ... while i'm out here dealing with 7.7 mag earthquakes ;) JK ... i felt a mild rumble and that was it.

What's that saying, "follow the evidence"?, well that led to the barn... back to wondering who else hung out there..

Police have not said what they have found or are searching for in the derelict barn and surrounding property.

They also have not said exactly what led them to the large wooden chunk of land to begin with.

Snip.

"Deborah Lytle, who lives near to the abandoned barn, said she was unaware that a squatter was living on the property.

“We thought it was occasionally being used by hunters,” she said"

ETA: Because Audrey was found, basically fully clothed, I think it unlikely that this was a sexual assault.
<snip>

Sorry, just realized how that sounded ... I meant that sexual assault doesn't seem to be the primary crime, and this particular assault sounds like it is atypical of the usual types of sexual assault committed. KWIM

I totally agree about the mailbox heist being a tall tale!

Audrey would have driven herself to the store in her own Camaro, purchased the new mailbox and she would have politely confronted the owner asking for the missing part.

I really resent PK's portrayal of AG as a love-infected, Grade 9 girl with a crush on the cute boy who does chores.

He should write romance novels!

:moo:

For that matter, I'm starting to even doubt the ---------> :cupcake:

Yes, same here! A few questions about the barn:

- did PK ever have an occasion to be in that barn?

- did AG ever feel sorry for those staying in the barn and send PK over there with some food or blankets?

- how far/how many minutes' walk from AG's house is the barn?

- could the perp have parked near the barn and then walked over to AG's house for the killing?

- were LE aware of the barn and just left people alone there?

- was the barn a hang-out for local teens?

According to this article, it may not have been evidence, but suggestions from the public to look at the barn.
http://www.woodstocksentinelreview....ller-turns-to-abandoned-farm-near-brantford-2
" Staff Sgt. Steve Hrab of the major crimes unit said the choice of location is the result of an "intensive" appeal through the media for the public's assistance in the investigation.

"As a result of the appeals, we've had a number of people in the area call us with information," Hrab said in an interview Sunday. "As a result of that, we are focusing our investigation on that abandoned farm."

He said he couldn't say at this point what drew investigators to the property or what they may have found.

It was just before 11 a.m. on Thursday -- three days after police surmise Audrey Gleave was last heard from -- that the body of the 73-year-old retired teacher was found by someone who had stopped by her Indian Trail house near Ancaster.

This was a stranger attack, perhaps the most frightening kind, done at the hands of a person or people who Gleave didn't even know, Hrab told the media Friday.

According to neighbours, that someone was a young man who often helped the short-of-breath Gleave with odd jobs around her house".

I think the perp knew all about DLS and was confident LE would put all their eggs in one basket (it would seem) since there hasn't been anyone else arrested for A's murder. IMO

Hmmmm - so Hrab believed someone or more than one person that DLS was some sort of suspicious person and the barn needed to be searched.

Seems nothing else would have led Hrab there.

People 'in the area' conveying this information to Hamilton LE could have included PK. It does not exclude him.

If this crime was for money, imo it would have been an elaborately staged event to point away from the most obvious people.

<snips>

IIRC, the barn is in the area of Garden Av and Lynden Rd (which becomes Indian Trail further east). That puts the barn about 7km /9 min drive from Audrey's. Also I don't recall ever reading that DLS had a vehicle, so I can't see anything that would draw DLS 7kms (4 to 5 miles) eastward on foot in December. We know he attended a bank in Brantford (banking=$$ of some sort), and was arrested at a laundromat in Brantford ($$ for laundry). It makes more sense that he would walk into Brantford (a hop skip jump westward) where there are services and shopping, rather than AG's very rural neck of the woods where there is basically nothing but farms and country acreages. (Did DLS ride a bike perhaps ???)

We did read before that young people had been at the barn at various times ... to what extent it was a hangout isn't really clear. For that matter, i don't recall that we ever knew how long DLS lived in the barn or whether it was a hangout prior to him living there and that's how he ended up there. PK had lived in Brantford with his parents before, so it is also unknown whether he hung out at the barn when he was younger, or knew DLS/others who did.

“Dave,” she told him, “You might want to think about getting a lawyer. You're under investigation for Ms. Audrey Gleave's murder.”

“Who?”

That was his first reaction: Who?

He got upset. He told Deb maybe he knows someone who had been out that way. Why don't the police come and talk to him, he might be able to help?

It is apparent that while DLS was under investigation, he didn't even know it, although others did. I still wonder if LE ultimately did ask him if he knew "someone who had been out that way".

Thanks to Woodland for posting my thoughts. I've thought all along that PK put LE onto the barn and the fact that DLS spent time there.

DLS was just such an 'easy' fall-guy. I'm realy sick at heart that LE even fell for it. Oh sure, LE had to investigate DLS and all tips. But to place him under arrest.......it allowed the killer to run free. :jail:

I am always a bit curious who was in the washroom of the bank and reported DLS Dec 29 for having the knife on him. Also, DLS purchased the knife with $$ his dad gave him for Christmas. Did he buy it at a regular retail store, or from someone on the street?

Maybe LE was looking for bike tracks?
http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/cri...-arrested-in-retired-teacher-s-stabbing-death
"Scott was known to ride his bike down the road into Gleave’s neighbourhood. But police said they don’t believe he knew Gleave.

“We’ve had witnesses who (placed) him going down that road,” Hrab said. “He’s a lifelong resident of that area in Brantford.”

One thing police can’t figure out is why Gleave was targeted"

Snip.

Police have received some forensic test results, Hrab said. But he said he couldn’t talk about evidence, including what items were seized from Scott".

More questions about the 'K' family:

- is PK's wife still a chef?

- is she still working at the place where PK had to drive her before he found AG's body?

I was thinking of AG taking photos of PK working in her garden, yet we have not seen any pictures of A in attendance at PK's wedding. If PK and A were close friends, one would think PK would have made sure a picture was taken of himself, his bride and A, the way a person would ensure there were special pictures taken with their grandmother at their wedding. Just IMO of course because I made sure I did.

This is a video of a suspect in a vicious attack on an older woman in N.Y.last month, cannot help but wonder if this may have happened in AG's case...

http://www.salon.com/2012/09/13/woman_in_her_70s_reports_rape_in_central_park/

"NEW YORK (AP) — Before the attack, there was a question: “Do you remember me?”

A 73-year-old birdwatcher who said she was raped in Central Park Wednesday told investigators that’s what the man who assaulted her asked, before he threw her to the ground.

The woman, who regularly visits the park, said she thinks the assailant was the same man she photographed masturbating about nine days ago in another, more isolated spot known as The Ramble, police said. She said he demanded she delete the image before they went their separate ways, and tried to grab her camera but didn’t succeed. Police said that initial encounter wasn’t reported.

On Wednesday, she told police she was attacked at about 11 a.m. in a wooded area near the park’s tranquil Strawberry Fields that serves as a memorial to John Lennon, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said at a news conference"

Same here! Thinking the same thing. PK told us that he had 'to convince AG to attend his wedding'. I've asked this before:

- how did she get there....in her Camaro?

- did she go to the wedding alone?

*I* don't believe AG was at the wedding. PK's words become much more hollow and without substance....at least, for me!
