I agree this is something knew to think about. And Sillybilly yes probably more than 10 minutes. Was he reporting a murder or a woman without vital signs by the way?

Thinking back, imo, 911 operator asked PK to check AG for a pulse, so it doesn't seem as though the 911 operator had any idea he/she was dealing with a murdered person.

IIRC, PK was reluctant to do so, but says he did do this and didn't get one.

Regarding the murder taking place in AG's home, I don't think CSI would have been able to clear the home for selling purposes so quickly, as the home sold very quickly, had the murder occurred inside the home.

Just MOO

Quoted from ROS' post:

I understand what you're saying here. But, perhaps the murder took place in a room that was reasonably easy to wash/clean up like a bathroom, basement.

The house was sold far too quickly IMO. How on earth could LE do a thorough job? Checking drains. Fingerprinting everywhere. Checking footprints everywhere. Looking at garbage/debris for DNA. Scouring every nook and cranny of the house, property, garage, basement. At least the car was taken away for forensics.

Also while we're on the topic of 'quickness', I think Audrey's body was cremated far too quickly as well.

I suppose LE 'had their guy' with the gentleman who was wrongly arrested.

Oh dear..........

ETA: Oh, I just thought of something. Did we ever see photos of the back of Audrey's house after the killing? Perhaps she was killed outdoors and placed inside the garage. That would eliminate the need for LE to scour every inch of her house.

IIRC, we only saw the front of the house and the car being taken away by LE.

Just a thought........:twocents:

A 25-year veteran of the Hamilton Police Service, the former homicide investigator was not killed in the line of duty. On Dec. 17, he died at age 47 after shooting himself in a locker room at police headquarters.

But speeches during the afternoon service at Bay Gardens Funeral Home suggested that injuries Matthews sustained on the job — emotional ones, rather than those brought on by a stray bullet or out-of-control car — played a weighty role in his death.

‘He could only handle so much’

“My father was heavily affected by the cases he could not solve, the answers he could not provide, the pain he could not ease in others,” said Matthews’s daughter Kierstyn, one of several family members to say a few words.

BBM

Staff Sgt. Ian Matthews took over lead on AG's case from Hrab back in 2011, IIRC. Although we, the public, may be frustrated by an apparent lack of forward movement in this investigation, I believe that our frustrations pale in comparison to those of LE actually assigned to the case. I trust that much goes on behind the scenes unbeknownst to us... and that is as it should, and needs, to be.

RIP, Staff Sgt. Matthews. I am so saddened that your wounded soul found solace only in death.

So now, presumably, AG's case will fall to a new lead investigator - hopefully someone with time and opportunity to review all evidence and leads right from the beginning, and perhaps fresh eyes will see new insights.

Thanks for this beautiful post.
My heart truly goes out to Sgt. Ian Matthews, his family, friends ,fellow officers and community for losing a good man.

:rose: Three years ago right about now you were found. There will be justice, Audrey. RIP :rose:

Thinking of Audrey every day, and today especially. What a loss of a beautiful woman, a beautiful mind ... a beautiful soul who certainly deserves justice.

Last night I was listening to the magnificent rendition of Amazing Grace by Andre Rieu and wondering why Audrey didn't send the same email to her friend JH who is also a violinist and was born in Austria.

  • #588
^^^^^^^^ Maybe Audrey thought JH would not appreciate it for some reason. :dunno:

Also perhaps the killer (whom I think was in her house and sent the e-mails) didn't know she and JH were very good friends.

rsbm

I have wondered this too. Especially since JH is pretty religious. I thought maybe because JH was away over the holidays and wouldn't return until after New Years Eve, Audrey figured there was no point because he wasn't around to get it?

  • #590
When did JH return from his vacation?

  • #591
Based on my research they left on Dec 24/10 and returned Jan 2 or 3/11.

ETA: actually, they could have come back anytime between Dec 30/10 to Jan 3/11...they went on a 7 day cruise, leaving on Dec 24/10. But I'm not sure if the 7 days includes the days of departure and return, and haven't been able to find anything that specifically states the date they returned.

No Stone you hint at an obvious but interesting point to my knowledge we have not quite put down in words here:

IF someone was sending those emails there has to be a purpose either as a 1. message 2. to keep those people thinking Audrey is ok 3. as a sort of maudlin ironic insult to Audrey. 3 could fit along with 1 OR 2.

It does seem to be true that the neighbours, P.K. and LV would be the three most likely to need to be assured Audrey was ok the Fergusons probably just because of proximity. So maybe you have hit on something there by the by.

Of course if (1) then the assailant could also send to themselves.

Travel blog of his I am not sure what we are allowed to link to says "our 10 day cruise in the Southern Caribbean this year from December 27 to January 6". But I am not 100% sure if this is 2010 to 2011 but I think so.

Long ago From Germany linked to something JH wrote saying he went first by car to Buffalo I believe it was before Christmas the 23rd or 24th - will have to find that again if still available - and flew down to meet the cruise from there.

I think SB's dates are correct (but they might not be) but as well that would mean they would have to fly to Buffalo then drive back across the border etc.

His musings on what he was doing at around the time his friend Audrey was killed and her body discovered are very evocative. Too bad he is not on WS he would have a lot to offer I think.

I think there' s HUGE clue in the song 'Amazing Grace' but we don't seem to be able to pinpoint it just yet. :blushing:

1. It's about someone who was/is down and out but finally saved. WHO?
2. It's a religious tune having its origins in religion. WHY?
3. Only sent to PK and LF. WHY?
4. The overall theme seems to be about being "saved". WHY?
5. If the killer sent the song, what was the killer's purpose? CLUES? TAUNTING? MOCKING?
6. The song is often sung at funerals. WAS THIS THE KILLER'S FINAL GOOD-BYE?
7. The song was the final thing anyone heard from Audrey. WHY?

JH's cruise 2011 to 2012, started December 27, 2011, and was a 10-day cruise. Cruise in December 2010 was a 7-day cruise departing December 24, 2010.

iirc from JH's blogs.

Something has been bothering me for a long time now. Audrey was extremely particular and she was a high school teacher.

In her (her = ?????????) e-mail to PK she comments that I've a fever. For some unknown reason, I simply cannot fathom Audrey writing I've......... I'd expect her to state I have a fever......... Teachers get used to using correct grammar in order to set a good example for the students.

Can't explain why that's been niggling away at me but it has.........:twocents:

(Did someone else write the I've.......)

As far as I could tell, those are the dates for the 2011-2012 cruise. I will find the links for the various blog entries. I have spent waaaaay too many hours pouring over and logging them all this past week lol

He also talks about specific items which were taken from her home. I wondered if he knew this because he was familiar with the house and its contents/Audrey's belongings. I haven't read anything either way about whether he ever visited inside the house

AG: "so I don't think I've a fever"

I have always thought this was an awkward way to say this.

I wonder if AG always used contractions?

imo

I think we mostly can assume he was in the house cause of comment about meds not in the medicine cabinet not in her bedroom. Unless he was just making stuff up.

Query: why do we have so many suspects? None of whom really fit with the idea of a brutal attack with a "sexual component"? Obviously we never know what evil lurks in the hearts of men.....or women...... or teenagers....though so commonly men. But still on the face of it all the enticing financial stuff doesn't mesh with the sexual element. I am beginning to believe pretty strongly in that since I can see how it would throw off the investigation you can't expect Hamilton LE to be wildly imaginative. I am sure they mostly are looking at the financial stuff as peripheral expressions of normal human greed and need - maybe not - I hope not. If Hrab's comment is real and why wouldn't it be then I am sure they will be thinking...male sexual sadist.
