Manitoba man has not been seen for several weeks: RCMP

''RCMP officers in The Pas, Man., are searching for a man who hasn’t been seen in several weeks.

On Monday around 7:45 a.m., officers received a report that no one had seen 54-year-old Barry Byrtus in several weeks.

Mounties went to Byrtus’ home and found mail piled up at the door. They also didn’t find any recent signs that someone had been living there.

Police officers describe Byrtus as five foot eight and about 154 pounds. They are concerned for his well-being.

Anyone with information on Byrtus’ location is asked to contact RCMP at 204-627-6204 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.''

I haven't found any updates about Barry's disappearance. Many people who commented on RCMP's post wonder whether LE entered and searched Barry's home and property. Would LE need a search warrant to enter his home? I agree with the suggestion to check under any snow piles on and around his property. He may have met the same unfortunate fate as Bruce Vanmatre.

It’s weird how Mail could get piled up at the door there’s no mail delivery in the pas there’s only P.O. Boxes . The picture also doesn’t look like him anymore. Talking to friends and family in the pas there’s no searches or anything planned. There’s way to many missing people in northern Manitoba and it’s such a large area.

A Manitoba man who was missing for months has been found dead, Mounties in The Pas announced Monday.

Barry Byrtus, 54, was reported missing on Jan. 4.

On Thursday, RCMP found a body in an open area off Centennial Drive, in The Pas, that was later identified as Byrtus.

His death does not appear to be suspicious, police said.
