Thank you very much for finding this!
From your link, an unusual piece of information:
“Details of the allegations against Caprian are protected by a court-ordered ban on publication.”

I can't imagine what info they didn't want released. They did put his name out there and the charges for 3 counts of arson and one for break and entering. There were three churches involved. What else was there?

@MistyWaters we noticed this more than once during the Tyner case. Normal for Ca?

And more description of search. I would think this includes off trail as well. IMO

'No closure': Family of missing cowboy Ben Tyner appeal for more information in search

When Tyner was first reported missing, searchers and friends were at a loss trying to determine his whereabouts, as there were no details or clues as to where he could have gone.

“We don’t know where he was going. It’s totally out of character for him to leave the ranch without notifying someone. None of this is adding up. It’s a flippin’ mystery,” Tammy Straya, ranch office manager with Nicola Ranch, told Postmedia News last month.

Nicola Valley and Kamloops SARs began searching the area and were quickly joined by police dogs, snowmobiles and RCMP air support, including drones. The Lower Nicola Indian Band also pitched in during the search.
IDK, SAR units exist for the purpose of rescuing people who had an accident but are still alive, and this affects how they search. In this case, they'd be trying to cover all the trails he may have been on, calling loudly, and looking carefully for signs he/horse had been along there. That's why they didn't want individuals going out there. That'd be a huge area, since the horse could have travelled a long way. Then, anywhere there might be an obvious hazard along the trail, where a person might have, eg, fallen from a viewpoint, they will search carefully along those cliffs.

But they're really not set up to search for victims of crime, or suicide, who are concealed in an unnatural way, they also miss people who wander too far from the trail and can't hear them

One thing I consider, LE/family never mentioned the last time Ben answered or called out on his phone. Good info, to keep close to the vest, imo.
Ben may have been killed Friday night, the killer telling LE “I saw him ride out Saturday”, & the horse actually turned out much later after Ben was killed & his body hidden. Jmo.
If Ben met his demise in his yard, which I personally believe, the killer could have easily returned Ben's phone to his house, imo.
IMO, hiding Ben would take priority over staging Gunny.
In fact, that could have been an after the fact idea.
People knowing Ben that might have passed by his house would have assumed he was inside, enjoying his weekend off, since Ben’s truck was in his driveway.
Like most cases, cell data might play an integral role here.

Moo
I’m so confused. Was Ben last seen Saturday at 2, riding out?
Or was he last seen Saturday night?

Quoting myself to add this!

At this point, RCMP say they have determined Tyner would've likely left on Sunday, however it's still not known how he got into the backcountry.

"We know of his whereabouts on Saturday night, so that gives us an extra day," Dunsmore explains. "We are still looking at how he may have gone up here, because we're still thinking that maybe he was driven up. So we don't know who would have driven him up, or if there's anybody out there that maybe brought him up with a truck and trailer, and we're looking for that person if that did happen."

Yes, the evidence (tips, CCTV footage, clues left on the sites, items seized from his home) is always held back until the trial

Well yea on the evidence, but I’m wondering if LE controls Ca press? Here, LE might be mum on a case but a citizen might talk to tv or press & they run with the story, prefacing with “LE declined comment”.

(Going back thru first thread, updating my data bank, I recall thecarsonist discussion, but was certain someone said he was back in jail)

Is this an error? Did Dunsmore mean “we know of his whereabouts Friday night”, or is the Saturday night whereabouts a now moot point, proven untrue, or what?

A journalist or news outlet can be charged with contempt of court if they publish anything that potentially jeopardizes due process and the right to a fair trial, etc. IMO, it's not fear of a lawsuit that holds them back, but the very high value placed on an unbiased justice system by the public. 5. This article from Feb 1 gives a more exact location of where the horse was found by KR.

Mystery of missing Merritt cowboy deepens as search continues amid plunging temperatures

Hunter Kim Robinson told Global News he found the horse about seven kilometres up a logging road, still fully-equipped.

“He had one rein hanging there so I thought something wasn’t right, so I went to catch him,” Robinson said. “He was a nice-looking horse, he had good rigging on him, but he was a bit jumpy. Every time I’d go close to him he’d step on that rein and kind of spook himself.”

Robinson said he’d been active in the area for about a month, and hadn’t seen any tracks between the Nicola Ranch and where he found the horse.

Wow! Tysm.
Very different from the US. Many times here, they print the news NOW, to be first, only to retract later.

I remember our resident cowboy @Dog_River mentioning Gunny was wearing a spade bit & it would cause pain when she stepped on her rein.

The man had last been seen Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., but it's unknown when he rode into the back country.

^^^^^^
From first post, first page.
Now, I wonder, does anyone, including LE really know when Ben was last seen?

I don’t think it’s common at all and I’m drawing a blank on why. LE already said almost everything there was to say in the report below other than how AC became the suspect so it seems that’s the reason for the ban. The media report was the 22nd but Ben’s disappeared later on about the 26th so the ban doesn’t directly relate to that.

The most recent update by the RCMP refers to “late January”. IMO that indicates the recent suspicious status has given them cause to review who seen what and when. Although in all fairness, none of their prior press releases mention he was last seen on any specific date or time.

“Investigators from the Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) and Merritt RCMP have been working hard to determine what led to Ben Tyner’s sudden disappearance in late January.”

No dates of last sighting in your link.
I agree, they might not have any reason to believe any sightings w/o further review of evidence & statements.
A lot is involved in a sighting. If I report seeing you at Timbuktu Pizzeria today @ noon, there has to be info putting me there as well. So much for LE to verify.
To sum this up, we are now left not knowing when Ben was last supposedly seen. His phone detail is prob’ the most accurate info they have. Moo

ETA: very strange LE now refers to his disappearance as “late January”.
This tells me they have new info that contradicts what was previously stated. But, they are not ready to release said info. Moo

From Ben Tyner Instagram. Photo shows him on a ride to learn the area and "his new home." This photo is dated November 8. Not sure when Ben arrived to take on this new job because his FB shows him still at home in late November, posting leather items for sale since he's moving. Maybe early November is from job interview timeframe? Or he went home for US Thanksgiving.

RSBM

Possibly they know quite precisely when he "disappeared", ie something happened, based on new evidence like text messages. That renders the info on last sightings irrelevant. They don't want to reveal what they know, so they have chosen to be vague.

Edit: just restated what you said! Though I don't think new evidence has to contradict the sightings.

Possibly any info relating to his motive? Or if he has previous record? Even possibly any alcohol or drug related state. JMO
