Some things off the top of my head trying to pin down a timeline.

Did Ben use credit cards?
Maybe he was caught on camera going to a store for groceries, supplies?
Talking about going to a bar, did he even drink?
What about restaurants?
Back in the days, ranch hands used to eat together in a mess hall type building. Did Ben join them or did he do his own cooking?

Would Ben drive into town or did he travel by horse?
Someone asked about a possible picture of Ben's truck. I seem to remember a picture of his truck along with his trailer at his place near the beginning. Not sure if it was on a video, newscast, or news article but haven't be able to find it.

I never saw a photo of his truck or trailer. Doesn't mean there isn't one. I've only seen reports stating that both were still parked in front of his residence.

@Satchie so, Gunny was NOT on NR property? Maybe adjacent?

I can't say for sure, I don't know about all the property they own. But it seems very unlikely, the Nicola Ranch was assembled beginning in 1919, from prime property on the south-east side of the mountain, whereas the horse was found on the north-west (back) side, highly marginal ranching country which is now being logged and home to wild horses. Gearing-Edge: A paradise, a dream of beauty undefiled - Merritt Herald

I belive some confusion was introduced by the suggestion that Ben had ridden his horse a short way from the Nicola Ranch and up the south side of the mountain to a low ridge, and then somehow gotten into trouble, and he and/or his horse had then crossed over the mountain to where it was found.

"Merritt RCMP Const. Tracy Dunsmore said other ranchers believe Tyner rode to an area known as Swakum Ridge, northwest of Merritt, searching for cattle belonging to the ranch."
Family of missing cowboy coming from Wyoming to aid in search

But Kim Robinson dismissed this idea, and suggests the RCMP do too: "But now I think they believe because that horse would have had to fly from Nicola Ranch to get where I found him without leaving a track,” Robinson said. “I would say it is almost 100 per cent impossible for anybody to leave that ranch and try and hide their tracks and be successful.”

There's a pic of his truck on Ben's sm acct- newer big white 4 door
extended cab. I wondered when I saw it if the local cowboys
would be jealous of his nice things. Nice, truck, nice saddle and
tack, nice horse, etc.

I think they all had equally nice things.

Would he have bought the truck or could it have been furnished to him by the ranch?

IMO, he drove his truck from WY, when he relocated, trailer too, for his horses.
But the ranch prob has a large number of vehicles. Most do. Jmo.

What gorgeous looking country! IMO worth a visit on my bucket list :)

There’s a lot of history with NR. Unfortunately, my WiFi is super slow lately & trying to open articles is all but impossible.

Thanks @enelram Seems he must have purchased that recently then. Maybe because he was headed on a long trip north for that new job.

You're right- shiny new things and a newbie in town (boss). JMO

Looked back at the date he posted it. October 9 2018. Before he left for Merritt. Maybe he received a bonus for signing on to the ranch?

All great questions. On the first thread, a few locals described Merritt. They made it sound as if it lacked in the night life department, lol.
I don’t think Ben rode his horse into town.
NR offers a “kitchen” that looks very well equipped, for group meetings, banquets, receptions, etc. maybe thecstaff used it as well for get togethers.
But all in all, I think it was each man for himself, like any other job. Do your work, go home, enjoy your evening.

@watcher9 Ben actually delayed moving, after accepting the position. He had to run the Yyner ranch after his dad was injured. I’ll see if I can find the link on first thread.

I did notice the date. Could be definitely a signing bonus. Or his salary just went up enough to buy it himself. IMO

Oh I do remember he stayed for awhile and moved in November around Thanksgiving.

I don't know why anyone would have said Ben didn't go over Swakum Mtn ... there are all sorts of off-roading trails, snowmobile and biking trails referred to on tourism maps.
RSBM
I think if there are trails that go high enough to get completely over the mountain, they'd probably have been snow covered, and the tracks would have shown up.

All pics I’ve seen show he has very nice things.

Ugh, I worry a perp’ might flee. We know in the US, criminals often go on the run. I see no way LE can have anyone living on one of the largest ranches in Nicola Valley under surveillance. (Speculating there is a per).
