I did a search and didn't find her name on the thread...

It was more her picture and her jaw nose profile - her age is out though...

Where they were last seen is about 3 hours drive from where the Darlington Nuclear Plant is.
Her friend Byron Simmons has not been found either.

First of all I went back to the area today and forgot to bring my camera :tantrum: but the area is being dug up, many trees that once covered that little space are being taken out and I'm assuming its being taken over, So pray that if something is there it's unearthed and reported to the police

Secondly, I was researching the jewelers that was associated with the ring and found they sponsored a lot of nursing programs in Oshawa, I wasn't really thinking or looking per say, just seeing what they did in the community. I came across a picture of a student (mind you this was 1969, I haven't found her or her family and she isn't reported missing) But her teeth, her teeth and nose look so close to the UID drawings I had to go back and show my spouse.

I wont release her name, but I attached a picture.

Another theory floating in my head :shame:

Can i have some input? Why would a family owned business owned and Operated in the busiest part of Oshawa move? They were located in the prime location for traffic. and before you say no business, there is now an Omni jewelery right where this Burns jewelry was located and yes they get business.

Some thing sticks out to me, there is no indication of poor sales but the shop is closed and moved to Perth Ontario in 1994 (a town with a population 5840 as opposed to Oshawa 157,000) seems like a poor business move to me. Does anyone know why they closed?

I don't want to point fingers or blame anyone I just always think why did they move? I have searched hi and low hoping to come across a reason but the only think I find when I search them is the UID.

The teeth do look similar jessica- and so does the nose, to me, from what can be seen. Also, the UID's jawline is described as narrow - imo, the sketches do not depict that, or not very well, but the photo you have posted does.

Nice work!

As for the jeweler moving - maybe the owner(s) were looking to retire within the next few years and only wanted to dabble in their business up until then?

Just checked and Melissa Yeo is no longer on the OPP Missing Persons site nor the newer RCMP Canada's Missing site. She was definitely on the OPP site at one time.

Is it possible this UID had a cleft pallet or cleft lip? Could that explain the nose work done and narrowing of the jaw?

I emailed Diana Trepkov, who did the reconstruction as I know some sites state she is native and some say mixed. I asked her honest Opinion on what the remains were and she had the lead detective who investigated her remains and the area she was found contact me:

Jessica, I was one of the investigators on the found human remains at Holt Road. Thank you for your interest in the file. I will be able to answer some of the questions.

Yes the female was Caucasian. We were not able to tell how tall she was due to the fact all her remains were not found. Some of the larger bones may have assisted in estimating her height, however they were never recovered. The remains are 100% female. The forensic anthropologist estimated her age between 18 – 30 years of age. They could not estimate how long the remains have been in place, only that the remains had been at the site for two to ten years, possibly longer.

We are still attempting to identify this female. There is also a facebook page, “Please help identify this woman”. It has some photographs of artifacts found at the site which may assist in identifying the female.

If you have any further questions, please contact me.

I emailed some more questions pertaining to the site being dug up as we speak and the artifacts left behind, hopefully we can get some more anwsers. :scared:

Thank you for your assistance in getting the word out about our female. It is a sad story, nobody seems to be missing her. Yes the reconstructions are all unique, there is no exact science in reconstruction. I believe one day she will be identified and a photo of her will tell us which technique was the most accurate. Yes I saw the new road going in for Darlington, it saddened me that her resting spot was disturbed. We conducted two thorough anthropological digs at the site and believe we have located the majority of the artifacts left behind. We believe the ring is a significant find, although based on the location she was found (next to Highway 401) tends to lend to the theory she could have been from elsewhere and was travelling through the Region.

There are numerous theories regarding the clothing, I would hate to make assumptions in relation to them. I cannot answer to the Anemia, it was discovered during the examination by the forensic anthropologist and pathologist, and I have limited medical knowledge, so I cannot explain what the discovery means. There are no other restorations done to the teeth and it is not known if she ever wore braces. We have no information she ever had a cleft palate.

They know of the construction but claimed they did a thorough investigation, yet this UID has no long bones found, only a skull and some smaller bones.

Great update thanks jessica-

Did you see the similarities between the girl I posted and the descriptions in the unknown? aboriginal etc. (webpage was black, forget where I was now) - She seems a close match with the protruding teeth, etc. The only thing I found uncertain was the narrow jaw, and that she was from Manitoba which is quite a distance away. Distance doesn't mean much these days with transportation being reasonably 'available'.

Hope they figure out who this person is and that investigators read what we put here?

It couldn't be her as she had a chipped front tooth and the UID didn't, the UID is also Caucasian (some sites list native or mixed, that's false).

Also would like to add the investigator and other sites have claimed to have checked all Canadian missing persons and american and there has been no hits, they believe she was never reported missing.

Picking apart the email I couldn't get this out of my head.

We believe the ring is a significant find, although based on the location she was found (next to Highway 401) tends to lend to the theory she could have been from elsewhere and was traveling through the Region

Did he just admit the ring isn't hers?
1) The size of the wrist watch and ring don't add up, we have discussed this before (ie) watch band small, ring size very large.
2)The ring is significant as the ring was bought in Oshawa on Simcoe Street (10 minutes away) and found with remains, yet they think she was passing through?
