Ontario Provincial Police are offering a $50,000 reward to anyone with information about the disappearance of a woman who was last seen in 1996.

Carole Dianne Roy was officially reported missing to OPP in 2012, 16 years after she was last seen. She lived in Quebec until the early 1990s before moving to the Ottawa area.

Roy is described as white with short grey-brown hair, approximately five-feet-five-inches tall and between 150-175 pounds. She was 43 at the time of her disappearance, and often went by the names Carole Lalonde and Dianne Davis.

Wow, how sad she had no one to report her missing for all these years - I wonder who finally did? So many questions, such a short article.

What an odd case.
Here is a full missing person's profile:
http://www.missingadults.ca/viewMAc...d=wkruripl&&CurCase=249&StartAt=246&EndAt=272

Interestingly, it says on that profile that the OPP have reported that she has a couple of known aliases - Dianne DAVIS, Carol/ Diane LALONDE or Dianne Carole ROY. This information is corroborated by this page:

OPP say she used the aliases of Carole Lalonde and Dianne Davis and there is a reward of $50,000 for information leading to her whereabouts.

I have so many questions - why wasn't she reported missing for so long? She had a boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, didn't he raise the alarm? And why did she have those aliases?

They say Carole Dianne Roy was reported missing on May 23, 2012, but investigators say the last conformed sighting of Roy was on Oct. 11, 1996.

OPP say Roy lived in Quebec until the early 1990s before relocating to the Ottawa area, where she lived with her 59-year-old boyfriend in Beckwith Township, Ont.

Investigators say the boyfriend left their home shortly after the last confirmed sighting and moved to Western Canada.

Roy is described as Caucasian, approximately 5-5, 150-175 pounds, with greying brown hair, brown eyes, a partially paralyzed left arm, and bilingual with a French accent.

I am a local to the area, and a few community members I have discussed the case with, along with myself, want to find out what happened to Diane Roy once in for all and get closure for the family and community. Please, if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I believe the key to what happened lies with finding the name of the boyfriend who disappeared out west right after she was last seen and did not report her missing. From what I have found from the different sources, which I will link below, Roy was born possibly in Quebec circa 1952, and probably lived within the province until the early 90s when she moved to Beckwith Township. Beckwith is a very spread-out area and is densely forested with lots of waterways. She possibly moved to Beckwith to be with the boyfriend or met him while living here, he is reported as being 59 years old, however without a name there is no way to confirm that as being true, and then she disappeared in 1996 with the boyfriend disappearing out West shortly after in a reported blue or grey car (could be a station wagon, but only one source reported that). The boyfriend, despite leaving after her last confirmed sighting, never reported her missing, and it is reported that a family member in 2012 finally went ot police to claim her as a missing person. That makes 16 years of no one noticing enough from the community to say something to the authorities, which is strange for this area, especially in the 90s, since everyone knows everyone. However, because she moved out here from Quebec in her late 30s to early 40s, she possibly had no family or friends situated here, which makes it even more likely the boyfriend was settled here before her, and she moved here to be with him. Please feel free to add or disagree with anything I have said; anything to help find more information would be great!

''The Ontario Provincial Police will take over the case and offer a $50,000 reward to anyone who may have information and advance the investigation.

The Quebecer's spouse in 1996 was considered a suspect in this story. He eventually died before authorities could locate him to his new home in Alberta.''
