Deceased/Not Found Canada - Catherine Todd, 48, Kitchener, 18 March 2013 *J. Parise guilty*

Ok I'm back! The thing protruding from the parking lot side of the building is definitely a spotlight. I drove around the whole block to get a look at all angles of the building, and saw no presence of a video camera. A couple of vents on the sides and back, nothing on the front.

Here's a couple pictures, and a each one blown up. The two on the left side look to be just vents, the larger one on the right is definitely a floodlight. The glare of the sun was not in my favour, and I felt like a tool sitting in the parking lot taking pictures with my cell phone, so I didn't hang around very long :p

Something curious to note though, the top floor window appears to be covered up with tinfoil or some type of reflective material. An odd choice of window dressing, I wonder if that was actually Catherine's apartment and was covered as part of the investigation. Though, I thought I read she lived on the 2nd floor, not 3rd. Weird.

Also, looking through the glass back door, there is a set of stairs directly as you walk in the door that goes straight up, and another set going down.

Apologies for the crappy picture quality, I didn't think to bring my Nikon to work with me today :D

Lots of people use foil to cover their windows because it leaves absolute darkness.

Aah. I guess I've just got this far in life without having ever seen that before, LOL.

  • #183
Also it will reflect heat so your room/apartment stays cooler and the electric bill is lower also.

I immediately think grow-op when I see tinfoil windows. :truce:

Good point, LOL. I really haven't seen windows with tinfoil on them before. Maybe because here in Canada everything is pretty :D When I first saw this I thought "Wow, how tacky.. must be a bachelor. No woman would allow that", then I thought, waitaminute, maybe that was Catherine's apartment.

Learn something new every day :p

]Well, I tried calling OK, the Superintendent, but got his voicemail. From there, I looked up his residence as it is different from the Lorraine Ave address.

OK lives at 101-8 Birkshire Court, Kitchener. His building is identical to the apartment complex that CT lived in on Lorraine ave.

I zoomed in and am sure I saw what looks to be a surveillance camera just inside the front door. You decide....

I circled what looks be a camera in red.

ETA: This is NOT the number 8 unit, it's number 4. So hoping they all have a camera inside the door.

One thing I noticed when I pulled up to the building was owned by EIWO property management http://www.eiwocanadian.com/ A lot of apartments in town are operated by this group.

http://www.therecord.com/news/local/article/913103--dumping-sofa-in-landfill-meant-to-frustrate-investigators-expert

The landfill took in about 700 tonnes, the equivalent weight of 550 four-door 2013 Honda Civic sedans, in residential and business waste on each day it was open last year, according to figures provided by the Region of Waterloo. This suggests that even if police know which day the loveseat was dropped off, it could still be dwarfed by the amount of other waste delivered to the landfill that same day.

Latest update from the KWRecord. Wow, that is a lot of refuse to search through. I pray they find Catherine's body very soon, so her family can give her a proper burial.

So depressing. I hate that she's buried in that pile of garbage. She derserves better than that :( Hurry up and find her, and lay this poor woman to rest with some dignity.

I don't know how LE caught this perp but if it was he who claimed he disposed of CT in the dump, I wouldn't necessarily take his word on it. He could be sending them on a wild goose chase while he tries to spin some story as to how it happened. The longer the body is missing = less evidence kwim. Example: say he told LE they had a spat and he pushed her, she fell and hit her head and died accidentally as apposed to him choking her to death. This could be possible reduced sentence if he spins his story just right and there is lack of evidence. MOO he deserves life with no chance of parole for at least 25 years. There is absolutely no excuse for killing someone, fleeing and trying to hide or get rid of evidence if it's accidental. He did all three, murder, fleeing and disposing of evidence and body. To lazy right now to go back and reread but do any of the articles report whether there was blood found at the scene? TIA

Hi, swedie... I don't think it was ever specified exactly what was found at the scene, except that there was evidence suggesting she suffered injuries, so I would read into that that they did find blood. But also, initially LE said she was missing but may still be alive - so perhaps it was not a lot of blood. One of the earlier reports below - from before JSP was arrested -

http://www.guelphmercury.com/news/local/article/907616--police-suspect-foul-play-in-disappearance-of-kitchener-woman

Waterloo Regional Police announced Saturday they suspect foul play after conducting a forensic search of her apartment at 50 Lorraine Ave.

“It appears she suffered injuries as a result of her disappearance,” said police spokesperson Insp. Kevin Thaler.

It’s not clear how severe Todd’s suspected injuries may have been.

“At this time, we can’t rule out that she’s alive somewhere,” Thaler said.

It was only after his arrest, I believe, that MSM reported that Catherine was deceased, which led to speculation that JSP confessed to killing her. Otherwise, without her body, how/when did LE become certain she was not alive but hidden away somewhere?

Off topic, but similar in regard to the body ending up at a landfill site, except in this case, LE did not even attempt to locate it. Such a sad ending to a very short life...

Parked at a Mac’s store at Martin Grove Rd. and Silverstone Dr., Ayyard took George — named after her father — from his car seat, wrapping him in a blue, yellow and white blanket before putting him inside a black plastic garbage bag.

He was left in a dumpster at the side of the store.

Police tracked the dumpster’s route to two potential landfill sites in Niagara Falls and Blenheim, Ont., but found that both crushed all incoming waste with heavy machinery.

I hate to think what has become of poor Catherine's body if indeed it is at the Erb St. landfill site. Even if JSP could convince a jury that her death was accidental, this lowlife should pay dearly for his absolute disregard for Catherine's dignity - all those muscles, which he's obviously so proud of, do nothing to disguise the coward inside, IMO.

Very sad.. even though Cathy lived a life and made choices not many people could understand or fathom - she didnt deserve to be tossed in the trash.
My opinion about how the LE found JSP would be through cell phone records. As for finding his truck -Onstar.

Another interesting tidbit of info - Cathy's cousin is Dan Todd - the drummer from the Canadian band 'Platinum Blonde'

Welcome to WS, shut-thedoor :)

No matter her choices, it's horrid that Catherine was thrown away like so much garbage, IMO.

Sounds like you may have known or at least known of Catherine... and that you may have knowledge that she was involved in either the drug and/or sex scene as we have speculated? Or some other poor life choices?

Do you know that cell phone communication played a part in whatever the connection was between her & JSP? Someone suggested that they were bf/gf - do you know?

Sounds like quite a musical family, obviously some talent there.

Hmmm... the FB friend of JSP with initials KDS no longer seems to have a FB page. Wonder what that's all about?
