Yes. This is especially the case since she left CB in a mostly French-speaking part of Ontario (bilingual, but still). The very name "St. Albert" follows a recognizable pattern of French Canadian communities being named after saints, if she did not know what this area was.I would agree. I think about 99.9% of Montrealers speak and understand English. I have for years gone clothes shopping and night clubbing in Montreal. I have never met anyone who did not speak any English at all. Additionally, my family had a cottage in the area as well, mostly bilingual people there too.
So, I don’t believe placing CB in a ditch in Ontario had anything to do with language. The placement could have been such that it was an area close to her family though.
I think the photos of CB should be erased all over the net if that is possible. I personally will use her initials henceforth.''Police are now asking the public to stop sharing the name and photo of the three-year-old. They say the girl has been through a difficult ordeal and needs to regain her anonymity.''![]()

''On Wednesday, police said they were looking to speak to a woman who lived and worked on a farm who they believe met the child’s mother. Police believe they met sometime on Sunday between 9:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., either in southwestern Quebec or Ontario.''
''The discovery of the missing toddler was an emotional moment for police involved in the search.
At a joint press conference with Quebec and Ontario provincial police forces in St. Albert Wednesday evening, OPP Acting Staff Sgt. Shaun Cameron said the case had deeply affected many officers.''
Totally agree with you. However, in court cases etc., in the future imo, since CB is a minor, her anonymity will be protected. I could be wrong, but it is my understanding of the Canadian law.I agree with not publishing her picture - especially the one taken of her in the back of the police car yesterday.
But this case is far from over. There will presumably be charges and a possible trial. There will certainly be follow up to this case. Maybe even an inquest
So I think it will be impossible to never mention her name again. Just the notoriety of the case being spread around the world. It’s impossible to erase this case from history. It is a spectacular case of hope and survival
That's fair. I had forgotten at the time of my post that the belt between Ottawa and Cornwall is largely Francophone.Yes. has anyone checked to see how far away the dog was located from the child? Is it possible the pup was left with CB on the side of the road in the ditch but the dog, as dogs will do, wandered away form CB and then ended up being hit by a car?
Could the dog have gotten to where it was found by itself if it was initially left with CB?
I’m not sure that it was.
It was the mother’s birthday the day before -Saturday June 14.
But I think that Father’s Day on the 15th -“Fete des pères” in french- somehow got misconstrued into the “father’s birthday” by some English media.
But it was the mother’s 34th birthday on the Saturday. Which begs the question did she not have any family and friends to celebrate her? Just stayed home alone with CB? No cake or presents or loved ones dropping by? This is very sad and telling if so.
Mom may not have had any support system
I am in a border area of the St. Lawrence River and there was literally zero on any of our news about it. We are only 20 miles away from the river.A farmer witness came forward early Wednesday morning after being made aware of the missing girl and called 911.
He was interviewed anonymously on the news today.
He is also critical of the lack of amber alert.
He is in Ontario also where this was not widely reported as much as in Quebec

I had similar thoughts (but mostly questions) re: how the farmer and his mother’s info factored into finding CB. I went back to the article (using my browser’s interpretation so not perfect but pretty good) where the farmer was interviewed, and it sounds like the farmer contacted authorities 645am Wednesday based on seeing a Facebook post about the missing child.I’m wondering if the witness contacted 911 initially and then the SQ took that information to the mother who confirmed that she had indeed spoken to a farmer wearing an apron with abondance written on it but wasn’t sure where
It was around 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday that the farmer's son contacted the authorities after seeing a photo of the missing mother and child circulating on Facebook. The two had no idea that searches had been launched for several days to find the child.
The police went to their residence around 10 a.m. on Wednesday and questioned the farmer and her son until 2 p.m., before starting their search in the area. The girl was finally found alive on the edge of Highway 417 around 3:06 p.m. thanks to the drones of Ontario police officers.
There is a traffic camera operated by Ontario Ministry of Transport at the exit of the 417 to Casselman. I suspect that LE would have immediately reviewed the camera tapes given the proximity to the meeting with the farmer. I wonder if they spotted something on the tapes as CB was found relatively close to that intersection which then triggered a decision to use drones in that area. As others have said, it is a mute point but interesting to speculate on the sequence of events.I had similar thoughts (but mostly questions) re: how the farmer and his mother’s info factored into finding CB. It probably doesn’t matter (thank goodness, now that she’s been found), but I do find the timeline a little confusing because (IIRC) the police didn’t put out the call with the description of the older woman with the “abondance” apron until Wednesday morning, but her son says he contacted authorities very early on Wednesday.
Pure speculation- wonder if mom shared this info Tuesday evening and police waited to decide if it was worth putting out public request for info with witness description, but ultimately did so Wednesday morning. Timing in that scenario would be pure coincidental that the farmer contacted authorities same day.
Also- curious what kind of info the farmer and his mother were able to provide that directed the search in their area, and if it really only took ~1 hour after concluding their interview before CB was located. Wonder if Rachel said anything specific to the witnesses that directed authorities to hone in on specific search area, or if they just went out in a radius from the farmer’s home, eventually finding CB 2km away.
Again- I realize it all probably is a moot point and am glad to have the questions go unanswered since CB is safe, but do wonder if some of these details could come into factor when deciding intent, mental state, etc.
