People are questioning why no amber alert for Claire Bell

In Canada as in most places, the following requirements must be met:

1.The police have reasonable grounds to believe that the child (a person under 18 years of age) has been abducted.
2.The police also must have reason to believe that the physical safety or life of the child is seriously in danger.
3. Information that would allow locating the child, the suspect, and/or the vehicle used by the suspect.

However,

“Quebec provincial police are asking anyone who may have seen a grey 2007 Ford Escape around Montreal's LaSalle borough or Coteau-du-Lac, Que., to reach out to them, as the search for a missing three-year-old girl continues.”

“The toddler was reported missing by her mother around 3 p.m. ET Sunday after the woman walked into a business on Chemin St-Emmanuel, says the SQ. The mother is being met by investigators.”

The link further reports the following actions of CB’s mother. The mother couldn’t remember what happened?
[snipped]
“An employee of the store who was working Sunday said the woman drove her car into the parking lot and ran into the store in a panic.

CBC News is not identifying the employee because she is not authorized to speak on behalf of the store.

The employee said the woman said she'd lost her child and couldn't remember what happened. Another employee then called 911.”

ETA -“According to police, CB was last seen at her residence near Newman Avenue in Montreal's LaSalle borough Sunday morning, around 9:45 a.m. ET.”

Her mother couldn't remember what happened? And reported her missing from a different town. That's so confusing. Maybe a Home Alone type situation where she forgot to collect her or bring her along?

Has mom been checked out for any kind of injury, black out, drugs that could have been ingested without her knowing? Could she have had a break of some sort and "came to" in another location without realizing what happened or how she got there?

Trying to give her the benefit of the doubt - weird stuff happens.

Maybe a fugue? 🤷‍♀️ very odd to me.

Very odd, and also very scary. Please, may this child be safely located (and her little dog, too.)

um. This escalated from troubling with little information provided to YIKES now that we have more info.

I will be over here quietly attempting to sit on my hands for now. 😶

ETA I do have to wonder why they haven't stated last seen by whom at her residence. Because in light of mom's apparent confusion around things . . .

According to police, CB was last seen at her residence near Newman Avenue in Montreal's LaSalle borough Sunday morning, around 9:45 a.m. ET.

On the Montreal radio show “Lagacé le matin”, crime journalist Bénédicte Lebel reported that she interviewed the employee at the Coteau-du-Lac souvenir shop, who said that it was the girl’s mother that came in on Sunday afternoon around 3:30 pm. She was in rough shape, barefoot, looking confused. She also had injuries or scratches on her legs. She said that she had lost her daughter, but couldn’t remember what happened after she left her apartment on Sunday morning because she had some sort of blackout.

Both places are in Montreal just different districts.

I thought the girl and her mother lived in La Salle and the mother reported CB missing in Coteau-du-Lac ? These two places are an hour's drive from each other.

arrived at the shop in a vehicle but was in disarray, barefoot, and her legs covered in scratches/injuries? Possible blackout?

I am not liking any of this. JMO

Quebec provincial police have deployed helicopters, drones, and ground search crews in the search for a three-year-old girl who was last seen in Montreal’s LaSalle borough.

CB was last seen on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. near Newman Boulevard.

Her mother reported her missing at 3:30 p.m. in Coteau-du-Lac in the Montérégie region, almost an hour away.

Crime journalist Bénédicte Lebel gave an update on the case this afternoon on the “Lagacé le matin” radio show. The search for CB is still ongoing and is mostly focused in Coteau-du-Lac, but also in Lasalle and in Ontario. Police is asking the public to report any sightings of the car that Claire’s mother was driving on Sunday between 9:45 am and 3:30 pm. It’s a 2007 grey Ford Escape, license plate K50 FVE, with a “Baby on board” yellow sticker in the back window. Any information should be reported to the Sûreté du Québec at 1-800-659-4264.

My mistake! Sorry! Coteau du Lac is 50 kms away from the Montreal home. I have requested my other post to be deleted. Again apologies.

The father dropped CB off at his ex’s (CB’s mom) condo on Saturday morning.
The SQ has said that through their “investigative” work they can confirm the last sighting of her was 9:40 Sunday morning.

They mother reported CB missing at the BEM store at 3:30 Sunday

The mother is currently being questioned by investigators. They have seized her Ford Escape and are asking anyone who may have seen it yesterday to contact police.

The mother’s long haired brown chihuahua is also missing.

Lasalle and Coteau du Lac are both close to the St. Lawrence River. And both sections of the river have strong currents especially around the hydroelectric dam, canal de Soulanges and the Lachine rapids.

Also the BEM store is located right off of highway 20 which is a main autoroute close to the Ontario border.

The FI Grand Prix was in Montreal this past weekend. Basically a huge mass of money, excess, debauchery, sex trafficking, drugs and partying

None of this sounds good at all
Poor sweetie.
