Canada - CD, 32, found dead in field, North Dumfries, Ont, 12 July 2017 *Arrest*

  • #21
On Village road, going north from RR 97, there is an incline.
On the east side , there is an embankment.
Past that, there is a lane to farmers fields, with a gate, a pole type gate.
LE is in there, on the farmer's property, not along the roadside

"<modsnip>was given his angel wings prematurely on July 12, 2017. C had touched so many of us in some small way throughout his short, yet very memorable life.

C's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His smile would bring joy and touch ones soul and his big brown eyes would melt your heart. C never had to speak a word for anyone who truly knew him could see his thoughts and feel his love/pain.

Although C possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. C had a heart of Gold and was loved dearly by many. He could spend hours playing his favorite video games. He enjoyed music, sleeping late, loved animals and eating. He loved the color black and listening to the sounds of nature. C loved the outdoors especially around the campfire. His favorite shows growing up were Little Monsters, Simpsons, Family Guy but most of all C loved watching wrestling with his grandfather WD who past just over a year ago. C will now be reunited with his beloved grandfather to share those wrestling matches again."

I wish I woke up earlier I would have went to her bail hearing. The court house is literally a street away. 2 min walk. I will keep my eyes open on this.

I'm wondering if he took drugs and overdosed so he was dumped in a field. All I can think of.

That is my thought as well.
The charges are indignity to a body, not murder

Complete speculation, but given some recent cases involving women, covertly administering unhealthy products come to mind. imo.

Desiree McNeil is charged with one count of committing an indignity to a body.

According to the article above, there is a publicity ban on the victim's name. I'll alert a mod the change the thread title.

OT, Is it common in Canada to have a vctims name banned from publication? Since the person isn't a minor, what are the laws regarding protecting his identity?

  • #36
All the news articles still have his name? I'm missing where it says not to use due to publication ban?

A publication ban is a court order which prohibits the public or media from disseminating certain details of an otherwise public judicial proceeding. In Canada, publication bans are most commonly issued when the safety or reputation of a victim or witness may be hindered by having their identity openly broadcast in the press. They are also commonly issued when the crime involves minors or is sexual in nature.
