Thanks for the article matou!
From the link, one of many good points.
Bringing it to the FF thread.

"The media have a role to play in helping families find their missing children by keeping cases in the public eye, especially when the child has been missing for a long time, Dzikowicz says.

"What people don't fully realize is every time we talk about a case in the media, there is more information that comes forward," she said.

In turn, the general public can help by reporting any information they have or remember later that could be related to a case — no matter how insignificant it may seem or how long it's been.

"People sometimes forget that the smallest piece of information can bring answers to a family because it can be a piece in the puzzle," she said. "In most of these cases across our country, the police have a good picture of what may have happened, but they just need that one little piece to help bring a child home."

After the vigil, scheduled from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., members of the public are invited to the Notre-Dame-du-Cap Basilica for the “light a candle for a friend” event which runs until 9:00 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to light a candle and offer a prayer for Cedrika and her family.

The Cedrika Provencher Foundation also announced that a simultaneous vigil will be held in Rivest Park, on Iberville Boulevard in Repentigny.

The POI probably doesn't even have the Red Acura anymore.

POI changed for a Toyota, then a Gray Acura in 2008, i don't have scientific facts but people in tight-knit cities like Trois-Rivieres talk in that way.

I know the name of the POI, but since they are rules on this website and we probably can't comment publicly and can't have names thrown around... But it is amazing what you can find of Facebook, comments and names getting deleted quicker than making toasts...

Does this mean they found, or did not find what they were looking for?

After 10 days, Quebec provincial police have ended their ground search of a wooded area near Trois-Rivières for new evidence in the case of Cédrika Provencher.

The SQ did not reveal any details about what, if anything, was found during the search, but said investigators are satisfied with the work that was done.

In a news release, the police force said searchers could return to the site next spring if necessary.

No real news with the police investigation as of late, they are not talking or sharing information with the public or the media. The Québec provincial police are still trying to find the evidence needed to grill the suspect, the infamous man with the red Acura who's car was spotted driving around the park from which Cedrika was abducted back in July 2007. The suspect was questioned in the early days of the investigation. Prior to being questioned, he cleaned his car thoroughly and got an attorney who told him not to cooperate with investigators. His identity has not been made public but one of my sources in law enforcement has since given me his name. Obviously I cannot share it here at this point but the one thing I can say for sure is that he is not related to any other unsolved disappearances or murders that happened in Quebec since the 1980's. More news are to be expected in the upcoming months.

The Québec provincial police are now saying that they might resume their searches in the area where the skull and some skeletal remains were found last December.

The search resumes in the woods near Saint-Maurice today.

The search resumes in the woods near Saint-Maurice today.

Thanks for the update Tarik, wondering what else they are looking for, could it be for other missing persons? Any idea if they are closer to naming/ arresting a suspect?
imo.rbbm.

Back in December, hunters found her skull in a wooded area on the side of Highway 40 in the community of St. Maurice, about 15 kilometres from where the girl was last seen.

For now, it's not clear why the SQ has decided to resume the search.

New tip is reason for new search.

Now the SQ has decided to search again, and said on Tuesday it was because they had received new information about the case.

"I can't say when it will end, whether it will be today (Tuesday) or tomorrow (Wednesday)," he said. "What I can say is that it will end when all of our verifications tied to the information we received are complete," said Lapointe, adding that Tuesday’s operation was “completely independent and separate from what was done last December."

Lapointe wouldn't say what information triggered the search, but he reminded people to contact police immediately if they have any tips related to the case -- regardless of how mundane they might think they are.
"Sometimes people have information they think is insignificant," he said. "That's not true. Any new information, for us, coupled with what we already have, can help us advance the case."

Everyone in that area simply wants to find out what happened to little Cedrika.

I am so hoping that progress is made and that this case is solved soon! Cedrika's family deserves nothing less!
