''A man with ties to organized crime was killed and two others were seriously injured in a daylight shooting at a Starbucks in a busy strip mall in Laval, Que., which authorities said bore the hallmarks of a planned hit.

Radio-Canada sources have confirmed the victim was Charalambos Theologou, also known as Bobby the Greek. The two people injured in the shooting were members of his gang, the Chomedey Greeks.

Laval police rushed to the Starbucks, located at the corner of the Highway 440 service road and 100th Avenue, after receiving a 911 call at 10:30 a.m. reporting the shooting. At the time, the busy complex, which also features other restaurants and businesses, was packed with people.''

''Charalambos Theologou, aka "Bobby the Greek," knew his days were numbered, according to a person who claims to know him.
"I heard a few weeks ago, 4-5 weeks ago, that the guy was stressed and then was a little hidden, [...] Because he knew it was planned, that it was dangerous. He knew he was in danger," said a man met by TVA Nouvelles near the crime scene in Laval on Wednesday.''

'According to this person, "Bobby the Greek" was involved in all kinds of crimes, but was particularly known for his involvement in extortion cases.''

Had to have been captured on video camera, imo.

Article content
Montreal police said they discovered the car, a Honda Civic, on fire at around 3 a.m. Thursday near Clément-Ader and Joliot-Curie Aves. in the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles Montreal borough.''

The part that bugs me, is that this was done in a crowded public space, a Starbucks for heaven's sake in the morning.
If criminals want to' take out' other criminals, they should do it well away from innocent people, imo.

Maybe he was lured there, for a meeting "in a public place" that would seem safe. (Sounds like a script to a not-so-great movie.)

''An undercover Quebec provincial police officer was inside a Laval, Que., Starbucks trailing the organized crime figure who was fatally shot there Wednesday, Radio-Canada has learned.

Charalambos Theologou, also known as "Bobby the Greek," was shot so quickly that all teams involved in the surveillance operation were taken by surprise, according to Radio-Canada sources.

The two people injured in the shooting were members of Theologou's gang, the Chomedey Greeks.''
''A team of at least five cars, including an operations supervisor, was deployed on the ground to monitor Theologou's movements, who'd been under police surveillance since leaving his private residence that morning, Radio-Canada sources say. Around 10 police officers were observing the gang leader, sources say.''

Wait, what? He was gunned down WHILE under police surveillance? Am I understanding that correctly?

I'm thinking not only was that a brazen hit, it was deliberately done to show LE the gang is in charge. (Just a guess...I don't know!)
