I posted in the Audrey Gleave thread, but since we’re talking about other cases possibly linked, I’d like to remind those here of the Audrey Gleave case. Audrey lived about 30 kms from Waterdown at the same time that CH was living in Waterdown (Potentially). It’s a stretch, but shouldn’t be completely ignored.

I thought about that as well. I live in Waterdown and was kind of "freaked out" when I realized he lived down the street from me.

I saw his picture and thought he looked familiar but pooh poohed it until I read he lived here. Wow!

I thought about Audrey right away but, how do you go from raping and murdering a 9 year old child to murdering a retired senior 25 some odd years later.

It's hard to wrap one's head around but, who knows?

It's interesting you mentioned it. I read the story of the writer of "lovely bones" and "lucky". She was raped savagely by a man in his 20's at night walking outside when she was 18. He didn't kill her even though he had a knife (lost during fight). His name was Gregory Madison. He was caught few years later and went to jail for 17* years.
I read few years ago that this man was released and went to jail again for a rape of a disabled senior woman.

I can’t be the only one who thinks Hoover kinda looks like that one creepy orderly from the first Saw movie.

Not all killers have a preference. Israel Keye's victims were different ages and he killed both males and females. He was caught after about 14 years of serial killing and he was not even on LE's radar. The only charge he ever had was a DUI. He told investigators there were two sides to him and everybody only knew one side.

I wonder if Hoover had a dark side nobody ever saw. It would be interesting to hear what family and people he was close to have to say about him.

That is a very good observation.

AG did not pop up into my head due to her age, but, certainly her murder was heinous and it absolutely worth exploring. Who killed Audrey Gleave? 'Horrendous’ Ancaster murder still unsolved Dec. 30, 2010

Sonia Varaschin? Also stabbed and sexually assaulted, taken elsewhere and left in a rural area. WARMINGTON: OPP determined to solve 2010 murder of Sonia Varaschin | Toronto Sun August 30, 2010

I don't think you could put a tight geographical circle on his potential victim pool, but, certainly these cases would be within reason, and is there a tie to the Collingwood area for his sons, because, it seems to me there might have been, Barrie, Collingwood, Orangeville??

Another stabbing of a young victim that is unsolved - and not high profile - is Kathleen MacVicar in Trenton, ON. Some had wondered about Russell Williams. $75,000 reward offered in cold-case MacVicar murder in 2001, say police June 13, 2001

ViCLAS should indicate linkage.

Audrey’s unsolved murder did come to my mind when I heard HOOVer lived in Waterdown...her in Ancaster..
The account Of her murder makes is sound like the perp did a bazaar, sick thing and her pants were ripped at the crotch...
But..there is DNA from that murder.
So..I tend to think to follow the money..who benefitted from her death...only one person benefitted...

You’re right. He did live close. Although “close” to one might seem far to another. I’m not an expert on killers, so I’m wondering if anyone knows, would a person who is into little girls, also be interested in an older woman?
The main thing, to me, is that the murder of CJ would have been ridiculously easy. To overpower a 9 year old child really speaks of a coward, and CH even had a story to tell her, and she knew him. So IMO I would suspect him in other cowardly crimes, where there is one small defenseless victim. So anybody female, alone, and under about 25 years old. All my opinion.

When his obituary finally pops up, we might get some more answers about his personal life.

They likely say “rot in hell”.

If he continued to be an installer of some sort, it may have been an act of opportunity. The randomness of the AG murder could have been a passing meeting at a casino, smoke shop, anything really. That would be a key reason for the police to want to build a definitive timeline. That would lead to jobs, off the books jobs, etc.

Yeah, that too! I wonder if any ever suspected he was capable of such a horrible crime. He apparently had a social life.

I'm almost expecting them to say he was friendly, but quiet and shy. Maybe when they look back they will see that there were red flags. I feel bad for his children.

I'm especially interested in the months leading up to his suicide. I wonder if he knew it was only a matter of time.

How do people find former addresses for Hoover? Someone here posted an address for him in Etobicoke. Another person mentioned that he lived down the street from them in Waterdown. I think someone even posted a picture of his former home where he hung himself. How does one find his former addresses?

I checked my notes and at the time of Christine’s Murder, Hoover lived somewhere in Toronto...perhaps Etobicoke, as you say
In 1996, Hoover lived in Ajax..on Tragunna lane with first wife and two sons...
Then he lived in Waterdown with second wife 2004-2009.
When he killed himself in 2015 he lived on County Rd. #65 Port Hope.

Sorry don’t even know my source at this point..(I’ve been hard into Melanie Ethier’s unsolved case)

I would tell you how I found his Port Hope address, but if you're like my wife you will roll your eyes and tell me to get a life, lol. I will say I studied telephone poles and pictures of dogs to nail it down, lmao.

The day of, or day after the announcement, a news crew went to the Port Hope home, now owned by his son seeking comment. Son had no comment, but the street name and a small view of the house could be seen. People then google street-walked the road on google maps to find the location address that matched up with the footage. Because the google street-view image is older, one has to match up other things (like placement and angle of phone poles) that can be seen to compare footage/street view to confirm location.
