This case is local to me. Christopher Beasley is being charged for the murder of the mother of his child, and their baby daughter is still missing and presumed dead. Absolutely devastating.

Missing baby presumed dead after mother's remains found by Alberta RCMP
Mom, 23, found slain in St. Albert, baby daughter missing and presumed dead: RCMP

Police arrested Christopher Beasley, 33, on Tuesday at a St. Albert hotel.

He has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and two counts of indignity to a body. The second-degree murder charge pertains to the death of Egotik-Learn, police said.

RCMP believe Egotik-Learn was killed on Dec. 5, 2025.

“Investigations like this are a reminder that every successful investigation begins with a tragedy. A woman and her child should be planning tomorrow, not being mourned today," Stevenson said.

Beasley is the infant's father and was in a common-law relationship with Egotik-Learn at the time of the homicide, police said. Court records show that at the time of Egotik-Learn's death, Beasley was on probation for assaulting her last year.

Beasley received 18 months of probation after he pleaded guilty to assaulting Egotik-Learn in 2025. He faced three other charges involving Egotik-Learn, in early 2025, but they were withdrawn.

What a beautiful young mother and baby. What a loss for their loved ones :(

After discovering Egotik-Learn’s body, officers learned her nine-month-old daughter, Braylee Beasley, was missing. Since that time, they have been trying to find her.

Though the search is ongoing, police believe the young girl is likely dead, Stevenson said at the news conference.

Investigators have a strong suspicion of where her remains may be, Stevenson added without elaborating.

For Andrea Egotik, 2026 has been an exceptionally difficult year. In January, RCMP came to her Nunavut home to deliver heart-wrenching news. Her daughter had been killed.

“I wake up crying. I go to bed crying,” she said. “I just want my honey and my Ingu.”

In Andrea’s culture, Ingu means grandchild.

Andrea adds nobody reported Ayla missing, because they were getting text messages from someone pretending to be Ayla — for more than a month after RCMP say she died.

She believes Beasley was sending those messages.

“I am so mad. I didn’t know it wasn’t my honey,” she explained.

Andrea sent Global News text messages from Christmas, and as recently as Jan. 15, showing someone impersonating Ayla.

This is so devastating. Part of me was worried he threw her in the Sturgeon river, which is right behind the apartment but it would've hopefully been frozen over then and not possible. The fact he's not given up where she is is also just so disgusting and makes me so angry. I grew up in the area and murders aren't all that common in comparison to Edmonton right next to it and it's just all so sad. I really hope they find Braylee soon.

Also per that article and him impersonating Ayla and asking for money: disgusting. How shameless.
