"Four in 10 Canadians have a job that can be done from home, according to Statistics Canada. The likelihood of holding such a job is shared unequally: members of lower-earning households are far less likely to be able to work from home than higher-earning households (And visible minorities are more likely to be low-income earners, other research shows.)
So closing non-essential businesses was more likely to have one of two terrible impacts for the working poor: residents were more likely to lose jobs; or more likely to have to leave home to keep working in “essential” businesses throughout the shutdown, and face that exposure risk."
According to Health Canada, the industrial-grade ethanol used in the recalled products may also contain impurities and other unapproved chemicals not suited for use in hand sanitizers.

New data presented by the provincial government shows if British Columbia continues its current trend there will be more new cases of COVID-19 than during the virus’s current peak.
The province’s modelling shows cases will continue to rise through August and into September if British Columbians don’t change their behaviour.
Toronto Public Health says it is notifying people who visited the Brass Rail Tavern at 701 Yonge St. about a potential exposure.
Officials say an employee who tested positive for the virus was at the club on these dates and times:
Aug. 4 from 7 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 5
Aug. 5 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Aug. 6

"People may be less likely to be honest with their personal contact information," said Lee, who is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
"Let's be honest, not everyone has a partner who may agree with them going to a strip club."
Ford seemed to agree, too.
"I'm sorry for the spouse. Man, I wouldn't want to be on the end of that one," he said''.
