''London's fifth homicide victim this year has been identified as Daniel Fawcett, 52, of London, a former member of the band Helix.

Fawcett was a well-known local musician, who most recently was part of Tim 'E' and the Yes Men, an Elvis Presley tribute band. He had been part of the successful Kitchener, Ont., hard rock band Helix from 2002 to 2004.

"He wouldn't hurt a flea. He was one of the biggest kind-hearted guys that ever walked the planet, and to take him away from his beautiful daughter, and everybody that loves him, is just such an awful thing," said Tim Hendry, an Elvis tribute artist and close friend of Fawcett, who lives and performs in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

"We need everybody's help to try to locate and find the person that took him from us and took him from his beautiful daughter," Hendry said. "We need everybody in London to bond together and try to find this piece of sh-t."

Investigators with the London Police Service are hoping to speak with anyone who may have been in the 0-100 block of Grosvenor Street between 2 and 7 a.m., on Sunday, or who may have information that could help with the investigation.''

He was found at the Grosvenor entrance to Gibbons Park. While somewhat close to busy 'Richmond Row' restaurant and bar strip it's still a bit removed and that location wouldn't be visible to any area residents. It's treed and down a hill. Was he meeting someone at the park or was he dumped there?

“I heard subdued voices overnight,” said Doug Gerber, adding hearing people in the park on weekend evenings wasn’t unusual, but the voices didn’t sound like the usual “hooting and hollering” from the late night bar crowd.

Gerber said he didn’t hear any gunshots or other commotion.

''London’s tight-knit music community is struggling to come to terms with how Fawcett met a violent end in a London park during the weekend.

Emergency responders called around 7 a.m. Sunday to the Grosvenor Street entrance of Gibbons Park found Fawcett unresponsive, police said, and he was pronounced dead a short time later.''

“He and I travelled together all the time and we just formed a bond that was inseparable. He was like a brother to me and I’m going to miss him so much. I loved him dearly,” Hendry said Tuesday from his home in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

The COVID-19 pandemic was tough on Fawcett, who, like most musicians, was put out of work when live-music venues were forced to shutter.
But Hendry said he spoke with Fawcett last week and invited him to Tennessee.''

''Several officers surrounded a white blanket on the ground just a few metres from the road leading into the parking lot before the covering was removed to reveal the body of a man wearing black pants and a black backpack, Maljkovic said.
“He looked like he had no shirt on,” she said of the deceased man.''

''Maljkovic said she and her mother had heard frequent yelling coming from the park in recent nights but doesn’t know whether it’s connected to the homicide.''
