Police said Wednesday they are seeking video of the park area from 6:30 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.
Very troubling.

So, I'm guessing someone found the purse/noticed her truck there early Saturday.

Interesting that they're looking specifically for video. That's not just to find her, IMO that's for evidence.

I was thinking, the only reason someone would leave her purse out in the open would probably be if she'd had an emergency, eg the boy getting swept away by a current and her jumping in after him.

But it sounds like a popular dog park. Surely there'd be other people there in the evening who'd have gotten involved. It's not like you keep a 7 year old up late, swimming at a deserted park.

I wonder what her plan was for the boy, while she went to Edmonton...

Hope this turns out better than it seems.

''The Saskatoon Police Service is asking anyone with video footage of Chief Whitecap Park from last Friday, to check it for a red pick up truck belonging to Dawn Dumont (Walker). That would include any security cameras, or dash cams.

She and her son were reported missing after her red Ford F-150 pick up was found in Chief Whitecap Park, south of Saskatoon. Someone in the park found her purse, and handed it over to police. Dumont Walker was last seen last Friday in Saskatoon. Its believed she was making plans to go to Edmonton.

The Saskatoon Police Service are looking for the video footage from 6:30pm Friday night July 22nd, to 9:00 a.m. to Saturday July 23rd.

Saskatoon Police are coordinating a search of the South Saskatchewan River.''

If she was going to see the Pope, I imagine she’d want to share that experience with her son—kind of a once-in-a-lifetime, historic, event. Even if she was going in an official capacity, she was probably still planning to bring her son along.

This is a really popular dog beach very close to the city (5 min out). I would be very surprised if nobody else saw them there. On a nice day there will be 50-100 people there, especially on the weekends. to get to the beach you have to hike through the forest for about 10 min. The river is flowing and many people drown in it every year. It’s also quite deep near this beach and it can tow you under.
do people actually fish in that area? Is there a specific place to fish or would it just be anywhere along the shore?

Yes people do fish and it would be anywhere along the shore/bank.

Saskatoon police are asking the public for video or dash-camera footage as they intensify the search for Dawn Walker and her seven-year-old son, Vinnie Jansen.

Walker, 48, who is well known in the Indigenous and literary communities, was last seen on Friday evening at a business on the 300 block of Owen Manor.

On Monday, RCMP located Walker's truck at Chief Whitecap Park, near the Riverside Country Club. Some of Walker's personal items were found nearby, but there was no trace of her or her child.

Police said Wednesday they are seeking video of the park area from 6:30 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.

They may be checking whether or not she was ever at the park.

I'm surprised no one saw them. If there was an incident of possible drowning people would help mother and child. The other thing is I'm sure she wouldn't go to a secluded area where no one would see her and her son and leave her belongings/purse in that location This doesn't make sense to me. The only thing I can think of is that mother and son arrived later on once people had left the area, but there would be people still around doing activities of some sort.

I wonder if later on at night someone parked her truck where it was found and put her belongings where they were eventually discovered. Again as I've wondered in other cases as she was involved in community service if this brought her into contact with a stalker/nefarious individual who she possibly didn't even know was intent on harming her. I'm very concerned no one saw her or her son that afternoon/evening at the beach. IMO this may be more than it appears on the surface if she or her son weren't seen by anyone at that location/timeframe.

Reading the reports about her colleagues reaction, it sounds like she already had a potentially nefarious individual in her life...

''Saskatchewan RCMP and Saskatoon police say they are leaving no stone unturned as they investigate the disappearance of Dawn Walker and her young son.

Walker, 48, and Vinnie Jansen, 7, were last seen on Friday evening.

"The RCMP and Saskatoon police services are focusing on every aspect of this investigation, including any historical issues," RCMP Staff Sgt. Greg Abbott told reporters Thursday.

For several days, Walker's loved ones have publicly repeated that she's been a victim of domestic violence, and called on police to conduct a thorough investigation.''

''Police have confirmed Walker has filed domestic abuse reports, but Saskatoon police criminal investigation Supt. Patrick Nogier has chosen to withhold whether any charges were laid.''

"We are searching throughout the long weekend," Abbot said. "We continue to search and we're going to use every resource possible to help bring Vincent and Dawn home to their family."

On Thursday, at least a hundred of Walker's friends, family and supporters marched for an hour from Chief Whitecap Park to Diefenbaker Park praying to bring Walker and her little boy home.

"This week has been hard and I feel for all of our people that are here today and the family. The mom, Theresa, especially — that's her baby, and her grand baby."

I'm thinking obviously at the country clube there will be CCTV, but would she or her son be seen on the footage? Hope that can shed some light on what may have happened to them. At least we would know they were in the area or not. I could be wrong but at the parking lot where her truck was found I don't think it has CCTV. Today is Friday day 7 of them being missing.

''Cameron said he remains optimistic about finding Jansen and Walker, who is the chief of staff for FSIN and acts as a quarterback for the organization.

Walker ran as Dawn Dumont Walker for the Liberal Party in Saskatoon—University during the 2021 federal election. She has also worked as a columnist with Eagle Feather News and the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and is the author of four novels: Nobody Cries at Bingo, Rose’s Run, Glass Beads and the Prairie Chicken Dance Tour.

She was supposed to leave for this week’s papal visit to Alberta when concerns rose over her absence, Cameron said.

“Like any other parent or loved one, you know something’s wrong. You feel it in your gut,” he said. “You feel it in your heart when someone is missing, when they didn’t respond and when they didn’t communicate when they usually do.”

This sounds pretty grim, doesn't it? Hope, hope, hope that there is an innocent answer, and they are both alive and well, but it doesn't seem likely.

I wonder if her cell phone data looks normal... whatever normal would be for her and isn't it weird that her purse was out in the park and not secured in her truck?

A piece of fiction written by Dawn. Interesting, and could be telling IMO.

"...In the background lurked abuse and trauma from my last relationship. My ex-boyfriend, the father of my son, had been abusive to me throughout our three-year relationship. The abuse became worse after I left—or perhaps because he didn’t couch the abuse in what passed for sweet interludes anymore, so I was left to see only the unrelenting darkness.

My ex likes text messages: his missives invade my phone when I’m not watching. When I check, seeing them is like being hit in the chest. I’ve asked him not to text me unless there’s an emergency related to our son, but he does anyway, over and over—about innocuous things, but always with the intent of proving something to me. I still have control over you.

But this was the pandemic and, in my little house, there were two kids, a kitten and a large one-year-old dog. A young house full of creatures who were messy and wild and happy and joyful. I had inherited a second five-year-old from my younger sister. She was in an abusive relationship that had pushed her from being a young mom who was struggling to a young mom who was struggling and homeless. She called to check on her daughter when she could. In between, she changed her phone number regularly. It is a symptom of abuse. I should know, I have five email addresses.

Whoa! I fear some serious foreshadowing here but I sincerely hope not.

Her writing gave me goosebumps.

Lump in my throat, weight on my chest, hoping beyond hope, that this good woman and innocent child are safe, just hidden, imo.

It's fiction about a car flashing lights behind the main character as she stops at the beach. The character in the story sees a vehicle similar to that of a former partner driving in the opposite direction, but there's no interaction with the person driving that vehicle. The character in the story spoke briefly with the person that flashed lights and it was of no consequence.

Her disappearance could be related to her work and lawsuits with the FSIN, where she has been CEO for roughly 9 years. There were election irregularities in previous years as well. It's also quite possible that her son fell into the water and she jumped in to rescue him. Kidnapping/murdering a member of the FSIN as she's going to visit the Pope is the opposite of trying to quietly get away with it.

"[Myrna O’Soup-Bushie] also complained about a lack of co-operation from the FSIN staff that she required to clear things up. The voting program used for the election was “simply voting” and it was set up by the FSIN. At the time when she wrote her report, she was still unable to access the electoral log.

Instead, the response from the FSIN was confrontational. The organization issued a press release calling O’Soup-Bushie’s report “defamatory and slanderous.”

It also stated that “legal proceedings” are underway and last week two separate civil suits were filed at Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon against O’Soup-Bushie. One listed the FSIN as the plaintiff and the other listed Dawn Dumont Walker as the plaintiff."

Saskatoon police say they are going through the cellphone records and banking history of a missing Indigenous woman to find out what happened to her and her son.

Police say Dawn Walker, who is 48, and her seven-year-old son, Vincent Jansen, have been missing for 11 days.

Police say she was last seen at a business in Saskatoon on July 22, with her truck and personal belongings later found at Chief Whitecap Park, near the South Saskatchewan River, just south of the city.

Sgt. Grant Obst says her cellphone has not been found, but investigators have her phone records.
