''Wood Buffalo RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in locating 24-year-old Diyana Adil Mohamed, who was last seen on Jan. 25, 2021, in the Gregoire area of Fort McMurray. Diyana was reported missing on Jan. 27, 2021, and has not been seen or heard from since Jan. 25, 2021.

Diyana is from Fort McMurray, and it is out of character for her not to be in regular contact. The Wood Buffalo RCMP have been unable to locate Diyana, are concerned for her well-being and would like to speak to her.

Diyana Adil Mohamed is described as:

• Black hair
• Brown eyes
• 5' 1" tall
• 130 lbs''

Charges laid after missing woman deemed victim of homicide

FORT MCMURRAY (660 NEWS) – The case of a missing woman is now a homicide investigation.

Alberta RCMP has arrested and charged a male in the disappearance of Diyana Adil Mohamed. During this investigation, Wood Buffalo RCMP engaged their General Investigation Section, Forensic Identification Section, Alberta RCMP's Major Crimes South Unit and other specialized police units within the RCMP.

Alberta RCMP's Major Crimes South Unit was deployed to Fort McMurray and assumed carriage of this investigation the week Diyana Mohamed was reported missing. As a result of this investigation, Diyana Mohamed is believed to be a victim of homicide.

Jace Jordan Charles (18), of Fort McMurray, was arrested on Feb. 3, 2021 in Fort McMurray. Jace Charles is facing charges for second degree murder and indignity to a body, in relation to the death of Diyana Mohamed (24), who was reported missing on Jan. 27, 2021.

Jace Charles and Diyana Mohamed were known to each other.

Following a judicial hearing on Feb. 4, 2021, Jace Charles was held in custody to speak to bail. On Feb. 8, in Fort McMurray Provincial Court, Jace Charles was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on March 8, 2021.

Alberta RCMP are continuing efforts to locate Diyana Mohamed's remains and are requesting the public's assistance for any additional information, surveillance or dash camera footage of the accused or the victim's vehicle between Jan. 25, from 5:30 a.m. to Jan. 27, at 9 p.m.


Diyana Mohamed's vehicle is believed to have been used during the above noted time frame. Her vehicle is described as:

• 2011 BMW 323i series
• Grey, also viewed as Silver
• Alberta license plate #: CHL 5023

Identifiable damage to vehicle: Front grill missing and damage to rear driver's side tail light as noted in attached photographs.

This RCMP investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have knowledge of this incident, or who may have seen or heard anything in relation to the homicide of Diyana Mohamed, to contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP Detachment at 780-788-4040. ''

Investigators believe Mohamed is a victim of homicide and are searching for her remains. Jace Jordan Charles, 18, of Fort McMurray was arrested Feb. 3. He has been charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a body.

Police are asking people to come forward with any information or footage showing Charles’ or Mohamed’s vehicle between 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 25 and 9 p.m. on Jan. 27.

Mohamed’s vehicle is a grey but could also be described as silver. She drove a 2011 BMW 323i series with the license plate number CHL 5023. The vehicle’s front grill is missing and there is damage to the rear driver’s side tail light.

No new trial after murder charges stayed against Fort McMurray man

The Crown stayed charges against Jace Jordan Charles halfway through his trial in early 2023.

There will be no new murder trial for a Fort McMurray man after his charges were stayed mid-trial last year.

Jace Jordan Charles was arrested in February 2021 and charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a body following the death of Dyanna Adil Mohamed. A two-week trial began on Jan. 3, 2023.

However, the Crown chose to stay charges halfway through the trial. This means the Crown had one year to recommence charges and resume trial. That did not happen and the matter is now closed.
