Elaine Frieda Alook, 35, was reported missing on May 27, 2004. The mother of four was last seen in Fort McMurray 16 days earlier.

Wilbert Alook is co-ordinating a ground search of a forested area measuring a square kilometre. It sits beside two small lakes near the rural hamlet of Anzac, about 50 km southeast of Fort McMurray.
He believes the area may hold the answer to what happened in May 2004 and is spurred by a report that two individuals saw his sister there. He said he has reached out to RCMP investigators.
“I can’t assume anything. She might have run into some nasty people.”
From Oct. 12 to 15, volunteers will split into teams to conduct a grid search, using radios to communicate with a central base if anything of interest is found. Alook says teams will have metal detectors as well.
“I don’t know if we’ll find buttons … or teeth from dental work, I don’t know.”

Details of Disappearance
On May 11, 2004, Elaine, then 35, left her home in Anzac, where she worked at a restaurant, to see a doctor in Fort McMurray because she had dislocated her wrist. She was last seen at the Plaza II mall in Fort McMurray.
She was officially reported missing on May 27, 2004.
She was known to live in or frequent Anzac, Grande Prairie, Lac La Biche, and Edmonton.

Missing woman known to frequent Grande Prairie

A missing woman not seen for 14 years was known to frequent Grande Prairie. Wood Buffalo RCMP say they are still actively investigating the disappearance of Elaine Freida Alook.

49 year old Alook was reported missing on May 27, 2004. Police say she was known to live or frequent areas in Alberta, including Fort McMurray, Anzac, Grande Prairie, Lac La Biche, and Edmonton.

Alook is described as Indigenous, 5’3″ and 135 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. Her left arm was broken at the time of her disappearance, and she was last seen wearing blue jeans, a t-shirt, running shoes and a black jacket.

RCMP say they have exhausted all of their leads and are reaching out to the public to find anyone who may have seen, heard from, or have information about Alook. They and her family are worried about her, and ask for any tips to be made to the Wood Buffalo detachment or Crime Stoppers.
