Police have released two photos of Eli Wood, who went missing after a fire at a Kitchener home on Oct. 19, 2025. Police now say foul play is suspected in Wood's disapperance. (Waterloo Regional Police Service)

''Police have been unable to located Eli Wood, 25, who lived in the rear unit of the home on Major Street.
Fire crews were called to the home on Oct. 19 at 6 a.m. after calls the unit at the rear of the home was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished, but it caused significant damage to the property.

The fire "is being investigated as an arson," police said in a release on Tuesday.''

Thank you for starting this thread dotr. I started following this when it was a missing person's case. At first, I thought they had started the fire, but quickly learned that their beloved dog was lost in the fire and could not possibly be.

Indeed, the height and weight would give Eli a more childlike appearance, but some people just look that way, I have red hair and freckles, when I was mid twenties if I wasn't wearing makeup I looked like I was in junior high.

It isn’t confirmed as the poster is anonymous but someone posted on a FB thread saying that their child (Eli) doesn’t have any friends in Ontario; they were just there for school and so the parent does not believe they are hiding out with a friend or similar.

The wordage of the initial report said the fire broke out IN (Eli's) Unit. If you look at the video in the post above that @dotr found and posted, it shows the home itself from the front looks undamaged, the damage is in the back of the house in what looks like a small addition to the house, which is likely where Eli lived.

Still no leads one month after Eli Wood’s disappearance

Police continue to investigate the disappearance of Eli Wood, who has not been seen since a fire tore through their Kitchener home one month ago.

''On Wednesday, Wood’s mother posted to Facebook, “It’s been a month, and now’s the perfect time for us to come together and make our voices heard. Let’s rally together and share this post to help bring Eli home.”

In another post she wrote, “Please everyone make sure your post is shared to public, not just friends, that way it can reach everywhere. Four weeks since I heard from my baby… please everyone I need to find my geeky and I need your help. Please share, share, share.”

On local public Facebook groups, commenters showed their support for Wood’s family.

One read, “Someone knows something. I hope they are found safe. I hope they are ok and well in the time being. I cannot imagine being in the family’s position. Thoughts and prayers going out to them.”
