I noticed that House of Friendship location just yesterday. In criminology reading, I learned they will often use a location they are familiar with. Could be anywhere, but that one did cross my mind.

Do we know whose truck is in the driveway? It strikes me as odd that it wasn't moved during the fire. A panicky resident trying to rescue their vehicle.

You're right. I have no idea how fire dept proceeds with nearby vehicles. There was one in the back too. We all assumed the truck belonged to the neighbour at 29 Major St. I suspect they may not have wanted him to move it since it might be covered in evidence.

Yes that House of Friendship location near EW’s apartment and the fire station also caught my eye.

House of Friendship regularly hosts both undergraduate (BSW) and graduate (MSW) Wilfrid Laurier students for their field education requirements.

Thr 807 Guelph St location is the hub for Emergency Food Hampers, MSW students may also be placed in other House of Friendship programs such as ShelterCare, Addiction Treatment, or Family Outreach.

It would be prudent a search is done around that facility it seems to me. (I won't be doing it though, too scary). But there are tons of others to be checked as well, but the familiarity thing is notable. It is a 12 minute walk. Do you think they had any outdoor shopping carts? Next door to House of Friendship is Knights of Columbus. Google says: "The Kitchener Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal organization focused on charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. They support local organizations like the Food Bank, House of Friendship, and Make-A-Wish, alongside hosting events like trivia nights, toy drives, and recycling initiatives to serve the community"

Continued info for body moved by foot: Those victims dragged from the murder scene in the study I read, were either dragged to a neighbouring property or away from the murder location on the same property, such as a garden or back yard and were almost always, 91 %, along a fence line or pathway.

For a body moved via vehicle: Most bodies are found within 15 to 20 metres of where a vehicle can be safely pulled over or parked without drawing suspicion. The research indicates that victims were never disposed in the centre of large acreages or areas, always around the peripheries. Perp with a vehicle drove up to 15 km (1hr) overall in the study. "Within all three relationship categories, 84 % of disposed victims were located within 15 km of where they were killed." So this broadens the possibilities.

Thanks for sharing this study. It really reinforces the need for a focused search of the “high-risk” areas mentioned: wooded lots, railway tracks, outbuildings and along the river.
The stats are very sobering. So most likely a male perp.

Of course, we have no proof for this case in particular, but studies are helpful.

The data for Canada closely mirrors the 84%–90% figures mentioned in other studies. From 'Statistics Canada" Between 2012 and 2021, 87% of persons accused of homicide in Canada were male, while only 13% were female.

Arson Accused: Men are also the primary perpetrators of arson in Canada. Research indicates women are estimated to commit only about 15% of deliberately set fires.

This on top of the rise of hate motivated crimes in Kitchener Waterloo is very concerning.

It brings me back to the LGBTQ news of Oct 20 -27 in Kitchener.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, LE warned local LGBTQ event organizers of potential threats of violence. In response, a local LGBTQ organization moved their Oct 21 in-person talks online, and a local LGBTQ bar canceled its evening gathering to ensure safety.

Yet, amid these security measures, these same organizers seemed oblivious to a crisis within their own community: a member targeted, their apartment burned down, and their whereabouts unknown. Rather than leveraging their platforms to raise immediate awareness for EW, they demonstrated their own anger and frustration.

It’s disturbing to look back on this and see how the leaders of the community EW was part of didn’t speak out for him,

They organized a walk and pop up dance party Oct 27, 2025 to raise awareness of the threat and how it was handled.

It was in December 2025 that they finally announced that EW was missing after s great deal of criticism from a group of concerned residents and fellow students of WLU.

I have read the activist leaders are often targetted. If they didn't speak out at this crucial time, it may have been for their own safety to stay under the radar.

Not wanting to lean too far toward 'it was a male' theory, I did some reading due to the question of EW being trans and if a female may have been involved. (I don't have a specific resource other than Google.)

• Apparently, though the majority of assaults and arson are by males (90%), if a female committed targeted violence it was likely against someone they knew intimately (friends, partners, or roommates).
• When females commit arson, it is more likely to use fire as a way to "erase" an emotional conflict or a specific person.
• Males, on the other hand use arson more for hate crime, intimidation or fraud.

Why a Female Perpetrator is a Legitimate Theory

• Eli may have been significantly more likely to open his door at 12:00 AM to a female friend "in crisis" than to a male, especially if he had been feeling "followed" by men in the past.
• A female acquaintance might have felt a sense of "betrayal" that escalated into a confrontation. (Such as EW's notice he was about to move away.)
• A high percentage of his immediate peers would have been female in the Master of Social Work Circle at Wilfrid Laurier University as Social Work programs are statistically female-dominated.

Could a Female Move a Body?
A female could move a small body, but they would likely need a vehicle or an accomplice to remove it from the scene before the fire.
