Someone asked if there were any leads on the second name on the permit on FB but no answer was given yet. Obviously, we are not in on the whole story for good reason I suspect.

Police officers were concentrating their search efforts in Algonquin, because shortly after Kim went missing they were able to trace a signal from his cellphone to a tower in North Bay.

Kim's cellphone was used in the North Bay area at about 4:30 p.m. that day.

According to media reports, witnesses saw Kim purchasing a camping permit at Algonquin, a park he had visited in the past.

Andy Pattenden, corporate communications for York Regional Police, said the park has been checked and police are no longer in that area.

“If the vehicle is found then search efforts would likely resume,” he told The Nugget via email.

When asked if police believe foul play is suspect, Pattenden said “not at this time.

“We continue to appeal to the public for any information on his whereabouts.”

Police have received numerous tips, but no information on the whereabouts of Kim or his vehicle.

As harsh as this sounds, I'm a realist. I'm 100% suicide. I'm not willing to dance around the issue. They can't find his vehicle? That's because he drove so far out of the way, he may never be found. Lots of vehicles are never found because of this very reason.

I just don't believe suicide. Why would he try to hide the car. I don't think he would take his family through that trying to find his body. I think he got involved in something heavy.

I believe he ran away with someone else. I think this is the reason there has been radio silence from LE and the family for sometime now. I think LE and/or family have made contact with Kim and want to keep this a private matter. I could be totally wrong on this and maybe it could be a murder suicide involving a mistress.

It is not that cut and dry. Here in the GTA (general Toronto area) there a lot of people that going missing daily. The fact that Eugene got so much media attention as compared to others who have gone missing was probably due to his family having connections to media. The fact that it has gone quiet is because the media will not keep up that level of news on one missing person's case unless new developments arise. It is not his family keeping quiet. On the Facebook page "Help us find Eugene Kim", there are still photo updates of him and they are still thanking people for their concern and help and informing people that there are no new developments. If they knew where he was, they would probably take down the Facebook page and not engage people.

TORONTO -- Police in Ontario could soon get more tools to search for missing people, such as the ability to track cellphones and enter a home or building to search for them.

Those are steps police are currently limited in taking unless there is evidence a crime has been committed.

"The government of Ontario recognizes that the circumstances surrounding each missing person's absence are unique, but that sexism, racism, transphobia, homophobia, other forms of marginalization and the legacy of colonization are factors that may increase the risk of a person becoming a missing person," it reads.

The law would allow police to apply for judicial orders for access to records such as photos and videos, phone records and cellphone signals, as well as employment, health, travel and financial information.

Police could also ask for a warrant to enter a home or other building if there are reasonable grounds to believe the missing person may be there, or if entry is necessary to ensure their safety.

The judge would have to be satisfied that the need to find the missing person outweighs their privacy interests. If there is any information suggesting the missing person doesn't want to be found, including that they are attempting to leave an abusive relationship, the judge would have to take that into consideration.

Well...if there is any inkling of truth that he may have run off with someone else, I can see why she wouldn't give a damn. JMO

I doubt it. Then the police would have put out a news release saying he was located, and the family wants privacy.

There is a scam involving Chinese students who are studying in Canada, apparently told to go into hiding and the would-be kidnappers then contact the families in China demanding ransom for their " release ".
At the moment, there seems to be 3 recent cases in Toronto.
Could there be a Korean " adult " version of this scam?

I find it odd that Kim's car has not been located yet. It could have been driven into a body of water as part of a murder suicide or painted with new color to avoid detection. Maybe license plate has been replaced or obscured to avoid detection. I would think finding a car would be easier to find than a person.
