GUILTY Canada - Family of 5 targeted in hate-motivated, deadly hit & run, London, Ont., 6 June 2021 *Arrest*

Alleged hate killings suspect wore body armour. What do experts say that suggests? | Toronto Sun
"The suspect in an alleged anti-Muslim attack that killed four Londoners was wearing body armour when he was arrested soon after – suggesting premeditation and a willingness to battle with police, one expert says. Nathaniel Veltman, a 20-year-old part-time farm worker...''

“Obviously that points to a greater degree of premeditation as opposed to a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing,” said Phil Gurski, a former strategic analyst with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). “It also points to someone who at least initially prepared for confrontation with law enforcement.”

'It was chaos,' woman who stopped to help victims minutes after London terror attack says
''Miranda Campbell and her family were driving home Sunday night when they pulled up to a line of cars stopped at a green light.

Drivers were coming out of their vehicles, talking on their cellphones.

Maybe it's a car crash, she thought, but there weren't any damaged vehicles.

Then she saw the injured on the ground.

“You should go out there and help,” her husband told her.

Campbell, a nurse practitioner in London, Ont., was scared and confused.

“There were no ambulances, no police, just bystanders on their phones pacing,” she said.''

''Campbell got down, checked for a pulse, but couldn't find one. She didn't want to move the injured woman in case of a spinal injury.

She noticed the woman's traditional Muslim clothing was in tatters, leaving her exposed.

“I just covered her up, I wanted to give her dignity,” Campbell said.''

“There's children, there's children,” someone yelled.

She noticed a young boy on the ground.

“He was facing the whole thing: He saw his mom's body laying there, his grandma's body,” she said.

When she opened the car door, the full thrust of the scene hit her.''

“Their shoes were scattered all over the grass, all over the sidewalk,” Campbell said.

She looked closer at the shoes.

“All these tire tracks on them,” she said. “I saw the tire tracks that came up on the sidewalk, and up onto the grass, and then back out on the street again.”

“What the hell kind of world are we living in?” Campbell said.''

tire tracks on them ... omg

What we know about Nathaniel Veltman, the man charged in the London, Ont. attack
''TORONTO -- Nathaniel Veltman, the 20-year-old man charged with four counts of first-degree murder following an alleged vehicle attack in London, Ont., worked at an egg packing facility and, to date, had no known ties to hate groups.''

''Veltman worked as a part-time shipping employee Gray Ridge Egg Farms, an egg-packing facility in nearby Strathroy, Ont.In a statement on the company’s website, Gray Ridge Eggs Inc. CEO William H. Gray said management and staff at the facility “were shocked and saddened” to find out one of their employees had been accused in the murders.''

In a section entitled “Nathaniel’s struggles” from custody filings in 2017, London psychologist Dr. Richard Zayed described Veltman as “often awkward socially, lacked confidence and was preoccupied with what others thought.”

After his parents divorced, Veltman became “frighteningly angry” and became disrespectful to his mother, leading her to lock herself in her room to avoid him as he became aggressive, the documents say.

Veltman later apologized for his actions, but refused to discuss the issues and refused to discuss his mental health, according to Zayed.

Court documents say Veltman’s parents agreed to encourage him to continue therapy and agreed not to leave him unsupervised with his younger siblings.

Court documents portray London attack suspect as prone to anger, medicated for mental illness
''OTTAWA -- New details about the man accused of intentionally driving his truck into a family in London, Ont., killing four, are emerging from court documents in which his parents reportedly describe him as “peculiar and challenging.”

''One witness said Veltman was wearing a swastika on his shirt and was laughing when he was arrested.''

''Veltman and his twin sister are the eldest of the family’s six children, who now range in age from 10 to 20 years old.

Veltman’s father, Mark Veltman, works at the Lambton College of Applied Arts and Technology in Sarnia, Ont. His mother, Alysia Bisset, has worked as a personal trainer.''

''The child support Veltman’s father paid was an issue in his relationship with Veltman’s mother, the records show. Veltman blamed her for his father living in “a bad apartment” in Sarnia.

Although he attended a Strathroy high school, the report says Veltman was angry at his mother for homeschooling his siblings.''

''Veltman is due to appear in court in London on Thursday.''

Not sure what they did with him in court today (other than lay no additional charges) but he is back in court on Monday.

Chief Steve Williams was reluctant to disclose the evidence police had gathered, but said it was quickly apparent Veltman had targeted a Muslim family.

Veltman is facing four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

No additional charges were laid during Thursday’s brief court appearance, which saw Veltman connect virtually from the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre and the next date set for Monday, June 14.

Premeditated ...... and this family was targeted.

“Mr. Veltman have you retained counsel?” asked Justice of the Peace Robert Seneshen.
“I've only spoken to them,” Veltman said, adding that he was in discussions with a local law firm.
Police allege the attack was a planned and premeditated act that targeted Muslims.
Father of man accused in anti-Muslim attack in London, Ont. calls it 'senseless act'

What Williams did say is it didn't take long for police to come across information they believe supports what they said at Monday's news conference: This attack was motivated by hate and the family was targeted because of their Muslim faith.

"We had the information early on that supported the evidence that this was a hate-motivated incident, that it was intentional and that this family was targeted," he said. "We wanted to provide this information to the public. Now that the charges are laid, we have to be careful about what information we release.

Also, based on what police have gathered so far, he said, they believe he acted alone.

"He was somebody who is not known to us in any significant sense"

Williams said police can only legally release a mug shot when it's done for public safety reasons, such as if a person police believe is dangerous is on the loose. With the accused in the London case in custody, he said, there's no public safety reason to release a photo.

In one of my local crime/neighbourhood watch groups last night, someone posted a picture of the surviving son in his hospital bed waving at the camera. They said he was having surgery today. I about lost my mind. Yes let's exploit him for 'likes' or whatever and make him a recognizable target for other psychos. I don't know who took the picture, who released it or shared it on social media. I reported it to group admin and it was taken down. But it's too late - it's already out there. I don't know if the extended family approved the photo but earlier they had stated they did not even want pics of the rest of the family in the media. Some media outlets then took their family photos down. I noticed some still had a photo up but had obscured the boys face. I just don't think it's appropriate or safe for him.

I didn't go to the march yesterday, but I did attend the vigil on Tuesday evening. It was heartening to see so many turn out. I am wrapping my Muslim neighbours in a virtual, loving hug.

I didn't go to the vigil, the march, or the funeral. I'm too paranoid about Covid. But my thoughts were with everyone. I watched the vigil in real time. Glad you were able to go.

Federal Crown Sarah Shaikh said Monday prosecutors were going ahead with terrorism proceedings after receiving consent from the country's attorney general.

"Mr. Veltman, you are now charged with four counts of first-degree murder," Shaikh said in virtual court. "In addition to the allegation that these murders were planned and deliberate, the further allegation is that they also constitute terrorism offences."

Shaikh told court the first-degree murder charges were laid under a subset of section 231 of the Criminal Code, which reads:

"Irrespective of whether a murder is planned and deliberate on the part of a person, murder is first-degree murder when the death is caused by that person while committing or attempting to commit an indictable offence under this or any other Act of Parliament if the act or omission constituting the offence also constitutes a terrorist activity."
