I wanted to post about him because although is listed as missing on Montreal's missing persons website (they listed his last name as "new", clerical errors make me concerned about how often this is being reviewed), he is not in Canada's NAMUS equivalent database: The National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (NCMPUR)

Looking at the NCMPUR website, they have divisions for all provinces except Quebec which is frustrating. Not sure how I can get him entered there if there is no division to contact. And sadly I don't speak a lick of French.

I found record of his sister looking for him in 2012 and she posted this:
Am looking for my Lost brother who went to canada since 1991.
Names Gerald Muoka Nziu.
Please email me if you have any news
Thank you
I can no longer access the site this message was hosted on in 2012. Nor can I find an email to contact her.

All his relatives are in Kenya, and he appears to have been forgotten. Hopefully we can get eyes on his case and maybe get him entered into NCMPUR?

Any WS'ers familiar with working with Canadian Law Enforcement?

He might even be a John Doe either in Canada or even possibly the United States.

I have submitted a tip that he might be the John Doe found On September 28, 2002 in Lake Ontario.

Dear @Aurora90 My name is Meg, I'm Gerald's sister. Thank you for highlighting his missing case, I truly appreciate.
We came to Montreal [my sister and I] to bring DNA samples to RCMP sometime in 2021. They compared with samples and informed us that there were no matches to any unidentified persons.
We are very keen to find Gerald and any help is much appreciated.

Thank you for your reply! Nice to meet you, despite the unfortunate circumstances.

I have recently been in contact with the embassy here in Canada advocating for him. I also emailed the RCMP. I am so glad to hear that they collected DNA.

Please consider becoming a verified user so that you can speak freely about your brother’s case.

Websleuths is a great resource and a great way for folks to get the word out regarding your brother. I know it’s hard especially given the distance. Just know folks are super helpful around here.

We won’t let him be forgotten!

I also hope the RCMP helped you and your family look into the possibility that he may have ended up somehow in the states!

Have you ever spoken with the family he was staying with? Did law enforcement ever speak with the family?

I am bring this comment into this thread.

''In February, the office launched an online public database of unidentified bodies, containing photos and descriptions of personal items found with them: sweaters, jewelry, tattoos, scars, shoes, wallets — even fragments of tattoos or dental work.''

''Along with a multi-agency working group that revisits unsolved files, the new tool is meant to directly involve the public — something officials say is critical to solving cases that might otherwise remain buried.''

"One of the people watching the database closely is Suzanne Lejeune, whose sister, Louise, disappeared from LaSalle in 1990.

Louise had moved from Ontario to Quebec to be near her son, who was being taken care of by her mother in Châteauguay on Montreal’s South Shore.
Diagnosed with schizophrenia while pregnant, she was receiving disability support and living on limited means.''

''If Louise’s case were added to the coroner’s new site, Lejeune believes she might recognize something, like the sweater she always wore.
“It was a thick, grey wool sweater with a purple collar. I would always tease her about it being ugly, but she loved it,” she said. “It was the last thing she was seen wearing.”

Maybe we can look for Gerald?

I have been a bit busy with a 4 month program but I have not forgotten about him and there is a chance this case gets some traction. Looking forward for his sister to be verified. Lots of information I hope can be shared.

There have been a lot of changes and I hope more due diligence.

Bumping for an eventual update!
